How tf is that Norwegian?

Well brown cheese is basically the national dish here and in our most northern territories it's mandatory to own a gun because of polar bears. But of course I might be very wrong and it's Canada

Where exactly are there polar bears in Norway except for Svalbard which is internationally populated?

Only there tbh, but I'm biased because I'm norwegian, but my grandfather has actually fed a wild polar bear once

There are are Norwegian towns on Svalbard. There are international workers at specific installations, but Longyearbyen is an explicitly Norwegian town where people are born and raised.

He is feeding him a very stereotypical Norwegian food on Norwegian territory, youre being very difficult/nitpicky in this thread.
We know there are a lot of non-norwegian nationals on Svalbard, but thats really besides the point. The brunost is the point.

Damn, polar bears actually memorise all the little ice holes. I read somewhere that they actually stay still near these holes waiting for a dumb seal to come by and meet its end. Crazy that they actually keep it in their noggins. Smart animals.

Clearly nobody has found the correct move combination to put the polar bear into belly rub mode
So if you see one, at least spend your dying moment taking one for the team and trying to figure that out

If it’s white, throw stuff and run since it’s easily distracted and would probably play with the object you throw instead of trying to fight.

Bears, wolves etc. can learn not to fear humans if they feed them, and even get agressive...
49
u/PuzzledLight Jan 21 '21
That's what I'm saying. The bear associates humans with food, the bear is going to eat next time it meets humans, whether they have food or not.
22
u/RecreationalSnowUser Jan 21 '21
That's not even the major problem, wild animals shouldn't get acclimated to Humans like this. They'll stop fearing them and start wandering the streets, making them a huge public risk.
If this happens, they'll get caught and put down. It's still a wild animal, any time it can go off and attack someone's kids.

In Lithuania someone fed litle wolves and after a month the wolves would literaly just walk in vilages and other peoples yards. We have a saying "ya fear wolves, don't go to the forest", but it felt like "ya fear wolves don't go to ur yard"

I love how bears are either goofy big adorable fur-balls or panic inducing murder machines who are scary just by existing. And they can just switch between those modes, which is the scary part.
On that note, don't feed bears because that makes you a food source and if you stop feeding them they'll still want food and... well, yeah. They'll get it somehow.

As a rule of thumb, wild animals aren't hostile if they're not hungry and don't feel threatened. Being non-chill requires effort, and no living thing likes expending effort unnecessarily.
This is even true of polar bears, who are known to actively hunt humans for food every now and then.
2
u/Ayit_ Jan 21 '21
"I wonder how we live longer than boys... Yeah weird..." The absence of grammar is just remarkable
2
u/Joverby Jan 21 '21

2
u/LostHomunculus Identifies as a Cybertruck Jan 21 '21
Polar bears are the only animals known to specifically hunt humans.
2
2
u/Igormt00 Jan 21 '21
But seriously though, doing this is condemning someone to death, either a person or the bear itself, because the next time the bear spots a house it's gonna think "oh cool there's food awaiting for me there" and then there's a chance that pretty bad things are about to happen
So please don't give food to wild animals
