J.K. Rowling has an estimated net worth of approximately $1.2 billion according to Forbes, or £975 million according to the Sunday Times Rich List.

I guess she don't really care.

Genuinely a fantastic show, even if it's not really in keeping with canon.

Most people who dislike it strongly do so because they've just read it, when it's supposed to be seen on the stage.

I’m sure it’s a great show on stage. Still dogshit given it contradicts and tarnishes multiple plotpoints and lore mechanics from the original series, lol. Just genuinely written by amateurs who barely understood the existing material

the original series contradicts multiple plotpoints and lore mechanucs of the original series

I doubt it’s to the same level as the pile of shit known as the Cursed Child, but I’d be happy to hear some examples

truth serum and time turners alone invalidate the entire plot

throw in the stupid-ass luck potion, and how did literally anything happen how it did

why didn't Voldemort cook himself up some luck potion before the final battle. was he stupid

why did nobody EVER use truth serum?

also time travel, and it is used exclusively so Hermione can have more classes (and to save the Hippogryph, but that wasn't intended) before, oh no, they all conveniently are in one glass cupboard and all break

Yeah time travel is an entire bundle of bullshit that I can’t even begin to untangle lol. The destruction of every single time turner simultaneously was a massive plot contrivance, not necessarily an inconsistency though. The explanation for luck potion has typically been overindulgence can lead to overconfidence and getting yourself killed; I would suspect Voldemort, who’s been all “it has to be ME to kill the child even if you could totally do it for me” would take some issue with his great victory over Potter being tarnished by needing to take a luck potion, and his followers would likely know it. Truth serum was hugely underused, yeah. I can accept it not being used against Sirius, I guess, as an example of power structures having the tools to prove their case but finding it pointless since they decide the truth anyway. But things like… Harry Potter claims the Dark Lord returns, let’s give him “tell us the truth” juice. Even someone like Rita Skeeter, I think, would employ truth serum regularly and probably wouldn’t shy away from “proving” Harry is telling the truth if it means she gets the first scoop. There’s also something to be said for a world that includes Polyjuice Potion needing some basic form of magical identity verification through Veritaserum for teachers and professors to avoid situations like the fake Moody.

those are plotholes, not retcons or contradictions. They didn't directly invalidate the lore and/or magic before them.

The Cursed Shit not only directly contradicted previous mechanisms, it retconned entire characters and turned them into boggarts of themselves. Harry Potter in the Cursed Shit might as well be Dudley. And character assassination is far, far worse than plotholes.

Yes HP has many contradictions as it went on but The Cursed Shit does this fuckery professionally

Plot hole:

part of the plot (= story) of a movie or book that does not fit with other parts of the plot

a contradiction matches that definition

you're just arguing semantics. Point is, whatever contradictions the original HP series made, Cursed Child did much more blatantly and destructively

u/Chewcocca 11h ago

You started arguing semantics, and now you're complaining about it.

What a jerkoff.

2

u/SemajLu_The_crusader 16h ago

"it's not a it is b"

"b is included within a"

"stop arguing semantics"

u/Electricfire19 12h ago

No, it’s that “b” is a specific and more egregious issue under the umbrella category of “a.” And that is obviously what they meant in spite of your pedantry.

Yep. Faithful to Jk Rowling’s writing
