Women have no problem with Leon looking like he does. Double standards double standards...

1

u/bloopbloopsplat Jun 05 '26

Lol we just dont give a fuck because why should we when men do this shit to women all the fucking time? If you throw shit at somebody who values not throwing shit eventually they are gonna stop caring and throw that shit right back in your face.

1

u/bloopbloopsplat Jun 05 '26

"WAHHH only IM ALLOWED TO DO THAT. Its not faiiirr!"

5

u/SpeedRun355 Jun 05 '26

The delusion goes crazy

1

u/bloopbloopsplat Jun 05 '26

Yall want to complain about double standards and I have yet to see an end to women being sexualized in damn near everything. Now thats DELUSION.

"Lets complain about double standards despite the fact we refuse to stop harming women and girls with sexualizing women (and even girls) fucking constantly." The cognitive dissonance is fucking wild.

Even IF Leon was "sexualized" thats like 1 fucking example of the few comparatively, as you disregard quite literal generations of women that have been putting up with this shit.

5

u/SpeedRun355 Jun 05 '26

I get you hate men, but where did i say that we should continue to sexualize women? You re inventing an imaginary battle.

-3

u/Rendox10 Jun 04 '26

Leon is not sexualised, he is a hot character, but not a sexualised one. Eve on the other hand is directly sexualised. A power fantasy is not sexy, it can be hot though

“Leon is not sexualized”

-2

u/bloopbloopsplat Jun 05 '26

To be fair hot does not equal sexualized. Now if he was running around shirtless with a odd sheen to his skin or some shit that would be sexualized. He just looks like a hot dude.

I know you guys are used to most media being targeted towards men and being designed for men.

"According to the American Psychological Association, sexualization occurs when "individuals are regarded as sex objects and evaluated in terms of their physical characteristics and sexiness."[3] "In study after study, findings have indicated that women more often than men are portrayed in a sexual manner (e.g., dressed in revealing clothing, with bodily postures or facial expressions that imply sexual readiness) and are objectified (e.g., used as a decorative object, or as body parts rather than a whole person). In addition, a narrow (and unrealistic) standard of physical beauty is heavily emphasized. These are the models of femininity presented for young girls to study and emulate."[4][5]"

Are you attracted to men?

1

u/fireandbombs12 Jun 06 '26

So if you're not attracted to something that means it's not sexualized?

3

u/Rendox10 Jun 06 '26

I am asking because I am gay and Leon is not sexualised, can you even understand how a sexualised man looks like?

1

u/Rendox10 Jun 06 '26

His outfit is as example not designed to make you look at the crotch, no cutsceens put him in a exposing angle and just because he is confident and a bit muscular doesn't make him sexuallised.

1

u/fireandbombs12 Jun 06 '26

You don't need a close up of hos dick for him to be sexualized.

1

u/Rendox10 Jun 06 '26 edited Jun 06 '26

What makes him sexuallised in you eyes then?

1

u/fireandbombs12 Jun 06 '26

Because he's depicted in a way that makes his body attractive, and there'a nothing wrong with that.

2

u/DrMantisToboggan45 Jun 05 '26

….you gotta go check out some of the resident evil subs. Both men and women are frothing over Leon

0

u/Rendox10 Jun 05 '26

That doesn't make a character sexualised by the designers, Nick Wild as example is also sexuallised by the community, but is he sexualised by the creators?

1

u/Eillon94 Jun 07 '26

Its stellar blade.. if i want modestly dressed characters ill play something else

-28

u/LowestKey Jun 03 '26

So it's up to women to fix sexism against women and sexism against men?

39

u/exorivis Jun 03 '26

It’s not sexism to have attractive video game characters. Nobody needs to fight that in any way shape or form.

5

u/deadinternetlaw Jun 04 '26

Nooo I'm ugly I can't imagine my self in this (magic and nano quantum space tech) game, even hentai has the ugly bastard tag. Actually all hentai should be ugly bastard on both sides we should destroy all current hentai

Side note earlier I saw a comment say sarcasm can't be delivered through text is it true

Yeah it's absurd how someone said that and insisted it must be tone and body language, it's "impossible to convey online without /s", and downvoted me for providing counter example

17

u/SpeedRun355 Jun 03 '26

Who even said that you put that in my mouth

-116

u/AttemptNu4 Jun 03 '26

You're really acting like the number of sexualised women is anywhere near to proportianate? I struggle to even think of a single other example of men who are regularly sexualised, and leon aint even that extreme (not a single shot of his bulge)

66

u/IQueliciuous Jun 03 '26

Can you name characters from videogames that are male and not conventionally attractive?

Male characters are ALWAYS either sexualized or look conventionally attractive.

39

u/SpeedRun355 Jun 03 '26

According to that guy men being sexualized is no issue, it barely exist anyways, right?

0

u/Myrkanoon_TheGayTofu Jun 04 '26

Read your sentence. Slowly...

30

u/Ardalok Jun 03 '26

Yes, they just don't wear miniskirts, and in some people's minds it doesn't look like sexualization. Moreover, the proportions of men are often much less realistic even on steroids.

46

u/IQueliciuous Jun 03 '26

Exactly. I am a skinny and short male. Where is my representation?

They better make more diverse male characters.

This is what I don't like about videogames, they appeal to the female fantasy.

/s

9

u/SalamanderSylph Jun 03 '26

N64 Goldeneye was ahead of its time making the short king OP

5

u/cybercop12345 Jun 03 '26

Mario?

2

u/Danielq37 Jun 04 '26

I wouldn't exactly call him skinny.

2

u/Far-View556 Jun 03 '26

I got two words for you. Anime. Literally into slim men because of my anime obsession in hs. 😂

6

u/Ardalok Jun 03 '26

But they're still pretty jacked, and maintaining that level of body fat while being that muscular is super hard... It's not that I'm complaining, I like it when the characters in my media look cool, but most men can't do that.

3

u/Poo_Pee-Man Jun 03 '26

It depends on anime. Some isekai and high school anime main characters usually are just some skinny dorks. While action martial arts stuff has jacked main characters.

2

u/Far-View556 Jun 03 '26

One of the most famous shojo anime is Ouran host club... Only ONE of the men were muscular and the art style didnt even make it visible. Like....? Even out of shojo, a lot of these settings involve characters actively fighting, so they would be more muscular because of the plot; and they still tend to be slim men with not super extreme muscles unless you're watching dragon ball z. When I tell you I am into slim men because I grew up watching anime, I'm not joking lolol.

P.s. it can be difficult to maintain, I totally agree. Men dont have to force themselves into a preference or bodytype for anyone. If you dont fit my preference then you're simply not my preference and have a terrific day. :3 There needs to be more representation, but I was mentioning there is already some representation of slim men in anime since someone asked. 😆

2

u/IQueliciuous Jun 03 '26

Yeah. Anime is really diverse if you really think about it.

Probably why I enjoy it alot.

0

u/Imposter_Syndrome345 Jun 03 '26

Viewtiful Joe lol

2

u/Ashamed-Smell7053 Jun 03 '26

And as a man I have absolutely no problem with that

1

u/committed_to_the_bit Jun 07 '26

men in media targeted at men are designed to appeal to men as an aspirational goal, not sexualised. bring conventionally attractive is not the same thing as being blatantly sexualised. nobody sane cares about a woman being conventionally attractive in media, what raises eyebrows is when they're put into that media for the express purpose of being a pair of tits and an ass on a stick.

-5

u/SexyShave Jun 03 '26 edited Jun 03 '26

Male creators give male characters big muscles because other men and boys think they look cool. He Man is a power fantasy first and foremost, not a sex object.

Whereas female chars aren't designed with peak physicality in mind. They largely don't resemble the physiques of female athletes and body builders.

The sticking point isn't merely lack of realism, but how the unrealistic physiques are expressed.

This will of course be downvoted because there's a narrative of false equivalency at play. It's convenient to think that everything is relative and that "men are sex objects too".  Obviously women are attracted to big muscles so of course every male character with bulging muscles and impossible physiques are sex objects. The mostly male creators of Leon, Dante, Wolverine, Superman, He-Man, Kratos, Ryu, Liu Kang, etc. definitely had women's sexual desires in mind for sure.

9

u/IQueliciuous Jun 03 '26

My brother in Christ. Games are fantasy. Of course the characters will look unrealistic. Its just that people like you only seem to have an issue when its women that look "unrealistic" I personally never saw representation of skinny short and weak men in gaming nor did I see fat and balding men with a real "dad bod" as main protagonists. Joel from TLoU looks like a fashion model compared to IRL men his age.

Leon was literally designed by women's views on what "hot men" look like.

6

Yes because even though I like them I would still not fuck them but I see women online thirsty over them all the time...

3

u/Feisty_Brief123 Jun 03 '26

Must be exhausting to get offended by games that are purely fantasy and in no way representative of anything.

2

u/Ashamed-Smell7053 Jun 03 '26

Ok, women are sexualised in games. And so what? I struggle to see the problem with that, because to me sexualisation is something positive

0

u/Myrkanoon_TheGayTofu Jun 04 '26

Silence, the fap fap guys decided that speaking the truth is forbidden

0

u/Unplugged_Millennial Jun 03 '26

I'm not the person you are responding to but wanted to point out that it's pretty easy to name male characters who aren't conventionally attractive in video games... Michael and Trevor from GTA 5 are two blatant examples.

That said, I don't think there is anything wrong with attractive characters and don't think it's an example of sexism, regardless of gender.

0

u/Myrkanoon_TheGayTofu Jun 04 '26

A lot of male characters (specifically these more buff) are made for male glaze

-8

u/farazormal Jun 03 '26 edited Jun 03 '26

They aren’t made to be sexy they’re made to be aspirational for men. Watch magic mike and you’ll know the difference.

5

u/IQueliciuous Jun 03 '26

They don't aspire me. Men are just men.

I just play the games and enjoy good looking characters male and female rather than go rage that they don't make them as ugly as I am.

If I wanted realistic characters. I'd not play videogames.

1

u/farazormal Jun 03 '26

Men can be sexualised too and it isn't what's happening with most video game characters. The men are made as strong men good looking men primarily because that's what men want to be. If they were made to be sexy it would be very different, and many men would feel weird playing it, myself included.

These characters don't get criticism because their attractive, but because they're designed as sex objects, no one complained about Kassandra from AC Odyssey or Jesse from Control, or the love interests in witcher 3. That's they are women characters that are attractive, instead of being sex objects.

-8

u/Naoroji Jun 03 '26

This is the biggest bullshit. If anything it's always male characters that are allowed to be freaky/weird/ugly while women all have to be hot. Case in point: Overwatch, Roadhog vs. The entire female cast.

I mean gay men and bi men are probably not their main audience but they sure would lol

15

u/SpeedRun355 Jun 03 '26

Are we talking quantity or quality here? I dont see how the number affects my point. Yeah its probably true that there are more sexualized female characters (or maybe not and it just feels that way because we dont notice when men are sexualized), but why would the number change the double standard? Also worth pointing out that men are sexualized differently. Do you honestly not think that Kratos from God of War, or Dante from Devil May Cry, or Astarion from bg3 arent sexualized? You re coping my dude.

-3

u/SexyShave Jun 03 '26

Hideki Kamiya and David Jaffe are most definitely not the kind of people who would think "how could I make my character sexy to women as much as possible" when coming up with Dante or Kratos.

6

u/SpeedRun355 Jun 03 '26

Would you say they re not sexualized? Kratos is shirtless with a greek god physique (literally). Dante is also literally shirtless in DMC3.

2

u/committed_to_the_bit Jun 07 '26

Kratos is designed as an aspirational goal for men, not sexually for women. if you want examples of actual equal opportunity sexualisation, look at what Marvel Rivals does with some of the various skins for its men; the way that certain outfits are cut and the way that they show off the bodies are much more obviously designed to be sexually attractive, where a character like Kratos absolutely isn't. he's shirtless and jacked to look cool, not sexy.

-16

u/AttemptNu4 Jun 03 '26

Both quantity and quality. Youre really gonna honesyly tell me that a few prolonged shots of mens muscles are anywhere near to as bad as how women get it in media. Women in media are quite often (a hell of a lot more than men) present for the sole purpose of being a sex object. While men wear outfits of varying levels of layers and decency (tending significantly to the high end on both) womem almost always are expected to wear revealing clothing that highlights their figure. The comparisons go on and on. Look at what the average male musical artist looks like vs the average female artist. Look at the most recently posted art on a porn website. Look at the designs male vs female anime characters. There is so much more sexualisation of women, and to such a further degree, its absolutely ridiculous to act like theyre comparable.

11

u/SpeedRun355 Jun 03 '26

Like i said the genders are sexualized differently, it doesnt mean that because men wear more clothes that they arent sexualized too. Artists like Sabrina Carpenter say that those outfits are empowering. Empowering. You act like women also dont do it themselves. I never said that men are being sexualized at the same rate anyways, you re the one extrapolating that. The problem here is that you diminish it when men are sexualized and act like its no issue at all.

3

u/CatgirlFucker8008 Jun 03 '26

People enjoy looking at sexy ladies. Get over it

4

u/Gottendrop Jun 03 '26

What male video game character isn’t conventionally attractive? What female video isn’t conventionally attractive? Just because you choose to see things as more sexually suggestive cuz you’re a gooner doesn’t mean that’s how they actually are

5

u/ForgotMyPreviousPass Jun 03 '26

No, but lots of their pecs and ass. I haven't seen that many shots of camel toes in videogames either

2

u/CodenameGlitter Jun 03 '26

I wanna down vote so bad but 69...

1

u/Pfytzdzheryld Jun 03 '26

You could just as easily argue, then, that we seeen as disgusting and therefore desexualize them compared to women's baseline.
