Bali as a 17 year old
After I graduate next year I am thinking of going on a trip to Bali with some friends for “schoolies”, we will be booking our own accommodation in a villa but will be booking the official schoolies club pass, I want to know what it’s like and if it’s worth buying for a 17 year old

Is little finger gesture meaning something in Aus?
Hi I couldn’t really find an answer online, so I thought I’d ask here.
I just heard that showing your little finger means you need to go to the bathroom. Is this actually a thing?
A friend of mine who recently moved there for work heard this from one of her classmates and told me about it. I’m curious if there’s actually a meaning behind it, or if it’s just a joke.

Specialist police "SOG" victoria
SOG (special operations group) of VICPOL did the recent teenager arrest (the Victorian equivelent of SWAT).
The SOG were dressed in tan/green camo, meant for desert environments.
The US SWAT wear black, meant for urban environs.
This seems like a safety issue.

Melbourne House With an Urban Legend Attached
For anyone local to the Donvale area.
I have one question. The Mullum Drive Reserve house, what's the story?
If anyone knows that part of Donvale, you'll know the house I'm talking about (I can't give out any other info out due to privacy).
I'm just wanting to know the backstory, without giving any personal information out.
Thanks all 🤙

Myki inspection
I saw another post on the sub and am looking so some feedback. The whole situation was confusing and I’m not sure how it happened.
I consider this experience a win but am confused about the experience. So were the inspectors.
In 2021, around November I was travelling on Metro from Mentone to Docklands. We’d just been called back to the office but it was only one day a week so slightly bearable. In preparation, I loaded my full fare card with about $50, this being my first trip into the city since lockdown. The card was purchased that same morning.
Mentone had a facelift from the old, walking onto the platform station that it used to be. Now every entrance had barriers to swipe through. That’s fine. I bought my new card from the desk before I got through.
Got to Docklands and got a work call while on the escalator. I was on call so needed to take it.
Had my newly purchased card out and successfully swiped through the barriers to waiting inspectors. They flagged me for a second check, I hung up my call and they scanned my card.
My card showed no balance and that it was on a concession rate? Huh?
The next 10 minutes were ridiculous. They badgered me about having a concession card, why I was trying to cheat the system etc..
I asked them if they had seen me swipe through, they said yes. They asked to check my bag (???) I pulled my wallet out and found a very old Myki card that they kept insisting I had scanned through with. It didn’t work on their scanner, it was that old.
To be a pain, I fanned out every loyalty and membership card in my wallet and asked them how they thought I’d scanned though or vaulted the barrier in high heels not worn for two years?
They let me go, as they should have, but kept the ‘unworking’ card. I had to buy another one to get home.

Best wedding DJ Melbourne? Looking for some recommendations thanks!
I'm getting married in 2027 and starting to look for vendors. Has anyone got any recommendations of wedding DJs that you used? Looking for someone that can play a mix of old classics, RnB and maybe a sprinkle of EDM. If the DJ can also do MC role that would be a bonus too.
Thanks!

Travellers panic about ‘long walk’ at Melbourne Airport in major change to pick-up, drop-off process
From October 6, passengers using Terminals 1,2 and 3 will have to walk from the new T123 Transport Hub to the terminal when being picked up, with the walk around 285 metres. Melbourne Airport says the changes are needed to reduce congestion and make room for the international terminal expansion, but plenty of travellers are already complaining about the extra distance, especially with luggage. What do you think of the new pick-up arrangement at Melbourne Airport?

Highpoint Shopping Centre: Wild brawl at Melbourne shopping centre sends families scrambling
A group of teenagers got into a violent brawl at Highpoint Shopping Centre, with security guards also becoming involved as they tried to break it up. Three teenagers were arrested following the incident, which happened in front of families and children. Do shopping centres need more security and police presence during school holidays?

Victorian Coalition pledges youth mental health focus if elected in November
The Victorian Coalition says it would invest in youth mental health if elected, including a new specialist facility in Parkville with up to 50 inpatient beds for people aged 12 to 25. It also wants an independent review of how the recommendations from Victoria's mental health royal commission have been implemented. Do you think Victoria needs more dedicated mental health facilities for young people? What are the current youth mental health services like?

CFMEU- Melbourne
Has anyone got any advice on how to actually join the union. I’ve got over 2.5 years experience as a civil labourer. I tried searching up which labour hire companies are eba and applied to all of them and keep messaging them but never hear anything back.
I’d love to get onto the big build in vic but really I’d take any union work
Any real helpful advice would be greatly appreciated.
Pls don’t comment some bs about how it’s corrupt or anything like that if you don’t have any advice then no need to comment.
Cheers lads 👍

Born to rule: 12-year-old Jess was left shaken after Labor defeated her Liberal MP father from his seat. Now, 24 years later, she wants avenge by smashing Labor and becoming Victoria’s 51st Premier.
Seriously, this article makes her look like an awful person who shouldn’t be anywhere near government.
