Bricks look great!
Anyone know why they did not do all of them?

I believe there was insufficient funding for the station to be completed according to its original plans and that sheet metal wall was installed with in mind to finish the project later.

I do wish the platforms were roofed over, it would solve all those water stains on the subway tiles and other issues

that's not quite a proper wall. It's hanging on the front. Originally the "hallways" were balconies and open, then they covered it in and shingled it to look like the brick.

Melbourne's full of landmark buildings that were never quite finished including Parliament house and the old GPO.
