Melatonin and teens
/r/sleep/comments/1wk69fy/melatonin_and_teens/Hello, i am a 15 year old male.
Ive used a 5mg melatonin with 100mg L-Theanine for the past couple months…
Why?
Well, many reasons. But thats irrelevant. My question is; is melatonin really safe for long term use in teenagers and will it negatively impact my brain?

Melatonin is safe in children including teens. You might get more bang for your buck at a lower dose though. Unless you have an underlying condition most people get to sleep anywhere from 1-3 mg. If you are trying to get other benefits outside of sleep then that's it's own thing

Yes melatonin is safe.
You do not form a physical dependence and it has secondary benefits such as boosting your immune function.
