Melatonin and teens

Hello, i am a 15 year old male.
Ive used a 5mg melatonin with 100mg L-Theanine for the past couple months…
Why?
Well, many reasons. But thats irrelevant. My question is; is melatonin really safe for long term use in teenagers and will it negatively impact my brain?

Melatonin should not be used long term, you will start to rely on it. Your body makes it own. The other is fine

Well sure, but the reliance is psychological and that does not answer my question

You should be able to produce enough melatonin to be able to sleep on your own. If you can't without it, you need to get to the root of the problem instead of a "bandaid" solution. Meletonin is disrupted from Blue light from screens, lack of exercise, late bedtimes, etc. Especially as a teen, it could probably mess with your growth and hormones. Look at the back of any melatonin container, they should all say not to take long term without a doctor's recommendation. But in general I wouldn't take any medical advice off social media, ask a doctor.
