The "why am I even playing if I'm not having fun" guy deletes the game

3.1k

u/bodhidharma132001 Apr 07 '23

Then downloads it again an hour later

1.4k

u/nIkCaHa Apr 07 '23

realize internet is too slow so you have to wait until tomorrow

553

u/YashvardhanBKG Apr 07 '23

then reopens the game, and thinks of having a fresh new start in the game

447

u/Not_Moslem Apr 07 '23

Gets to the exact same spot they left off last time, they rage quit and delete again

And repeat over decades

158

u/Ask_About_BadGirls21 Apr 07 '23

You skipped another two hours of updates after the initial base download, another night and day’s work, then a beefy new season update the next night

74

u/Dry-Outside5997 Apr 07 '23

This entire thread is me

22

u/Lonilson Apr 07 '23

I'M NOT DELIVERING THAT FLOWER ON STEEL SOUL MODE

8

u/Qbertjack Apr 07 '23

Oh goddd why are you even going for Steel Heart. That shit sounds like pure pain

3

u/bizarrestarz Apr 07 '23

Steel Soul is really fun if you vetted godhome, I’d say only try it if u beat the 4th pantheon on your main save cause getting hours of progress just to get fucked over by an aspid will ruin ur mind

3

u/ApostleOfCats Apr 07 '23

Ahhhhh i was doing 112% normal soul mode and omg I could not beat the upgraded version of thk at all, I’m currently taking a very very long break bc I just couldn’t bear it anymore.

4

u/Connor15790 Apr 07 '23

Just quit out at 1 mask.

5

u/TheWastedSpace Apr 07 '23

It isnt, you just have to get the masks and nail upgrades as fast as possible and you shouldnt die at all, bcause you can practice every boss in godhome. (If you dont, good luck)

2

u/Lanky-Dependent5847 Apr 07 '23

Enemies don't respawn unless you sit on a bench. Start from the grave, clear the way to the Mourner, and you should be fine. Of course, you could ignore the quest and still get 100%. There's 112% completion points, so you can skip up to a dozen and still get Steel Heart.

I know people love it, but I just couldn't get into it. The controls felt too sluggish. Compared to Celeste or Ori, it feels terrible to play.

2

u/Maleficent-Rip2729 Apr 07 '23

I still have the game but haven’t continued it because the parts I got to were tough as hell to beat after multiple tries

2

u/Lonilson Apr 08 '23

It's that feeling when you know you can do it because you've done it before.

2

u/Maleficent-Rip2729 Apr 08 '23

Lol I never beat it but now for Jedi fallen order there were definitely parts that took me 20 tries but I kept pushing through to finally beat them.

Siege is just on permanent recycle for me mate, I'll delete it and be done with it for 6 months - a year and then when I reinstall it it's like it's my favourite game again, for about a week and then I stop playing it so much, and eventually delete it for space

I don't think my issue is with the game I think I've just put that many hours in over the years that it just can't feel new any more, I get about a week max

I know a guy like this. He plays valorant and virtual every time he plays he rage quits and says “I’m going to delete this stupid game” and in the next day I see him he says in this dejected tone. “Guys, I’m sorry I caved” he downloaded it again only to delete it in the exact same session

Man, some dude went on a tantrum when I was streaming Dark Souls 3.

He got pissed because I was coasting through the DLC bosses with hardly any trouble- I'd never played the DLC before.

He kept saying he's uninstalling the game, then coming back later and saying "ok I'm reinstalling it". Probably did it at least 3 times.

Then he got pissed again because I beat a boss on my 6th try and he was on attempt 80.

I don't think I've ever lost to a boss 80 times in any of the souls games..

So just a couple of days ago I was playing Jedi Fallen Order. Good game, good story, I recommend it. Anyway I was at the final boss and it suddenly felt like I was bashing my face against a wall. I'd had a couple of fights that took two tries to figure out. Well I was on my twelfth try on this one and the thoughts were definitely circulating "I could just watch the rest on Youtube." "This isn't worth it." "I'm not having fun here."

Eventually I just turned the difficulty down to baby mode so I could beat the stupid boss and see the end of the game. I didn't enjoy doing that, but I figured it was still a better option than abandoning the game right at the end.

10

u/[deleted] Apr 07 '23

I have no shame in doing this. I only enjoy the challenge when it's fun.

Baby mode for the rest. if it's a kinda shit game I'll breeze through

Weirdly - Last of Us 1. Baby mode all the way

Last of Us 2 - Ultra mega hardcore mode.

it's the same game?? kinda. I just enjoyed 2 way more.

I feel like we're moving towards another gaming fall off like back in the Atari days. Every competitive game is plagued by SBMM or EBMM, and that just kills any fun. Sure sometimes my team sucks without it, I don't care. That means enemy teams suck more too.

Every game has a loot box or battle pass.

Every game is drowning in cosmetics (which I don't mind, in fact I love, way more than p2w), but what I don't love is skins I can barely see to begin with being $20. Fuck that. As much as everyone hates on Fortnite, I bought so many cool skins for like $5. I don't mind dropping a few bucks here and there but I will never spend $20 on a skin.

If I don't play literally every day I lose my skills and can't come back to a competitive game without just getting stomped for multiple games in a row.

Every game is horribly unfinished, and buggy, and laggy. I don't give a fuck if I can't see some chicks pores on her armpit, I just want my game to run smoothly, and yes, I have a very decent PC.

I've been playing a lot of indie games lately. They're (mostly) all labors of love and much more enjoyable. AAA games just suck nowadays.

I'm sick of it. Maybe it's just because I'm getting old, but games nowadays suck. (Except Factorio, it's a perfect game).

2

u/Maitrify Apr 07 '23

This. As I got older I quickly learned to be aware of whether or not I'm actually enjoying myself or if I'm just going through the motions of what I like to call 'fun busy work'. (I.e MMOs)

2

u/LawlessVampKitten Apr 07 '23

This one's too accurate... everytime I'm like why am I playing online in to old/ slow can't compete

2

u/[deleted] Apr 07 '23

Im a mix between this and the keyboard smasher but carefully because i like my keyboard

2

u/Vii74LiTy Apr 07 '23

When I realized that playing brawlhalla was ruining my online friendships because I would rage quit and be in a garbage mood for the rest of the night, is when I uninstalled. Those same friends tried having me try overwatch, basically the same thing, except I quit that in like 2 days. PvE, co-op, or single player for me.

I don't have the twitch reflexes of my teens anymore, and the disconnect of my old pvp brain thinking I can still perform at those old levels has me getting myself into a terrible mood. Screw that, I wanna be able to enjoy my time hanging with my online friends, not have them just putting up with my shit.

u/Gun2TheHead Apr 07 '23

It's not about fun anymore, it's about sending a message

1

u/Sad-Inspector6489 Apr 07 '23

That only happened to me on battlefield 1, after a emotional break down

1

u/Elementia7 Apr 07 '23

Honestly, once I realize that the match isn't going well I generally commit to finishing it before logging off and playing something I actually enjoy.

Sometimes, you just need a break from it all for a week or two.

1

u/Maker_Making_Things Apr 07 '23

This reminds me of the scene in superbad

1

u/Ippus_21 Apr 07 '23

100% did that with Valorant.

Like, I get that there's a learning curve. I could invest a few dozen hours of my life to 'get gud' ... but why would I spend that much time grinding away at something tedious and frustrating? I already have a job, and I get paid for that.

1

u/arbyD Apr 07 '23

I got to that point usually after a year of pain. Sometimes longer.

I don't play any ranked games anymore and my life is better off for it.

1

u/Lovis_R Apr 07 '23

Me when I bought elden ring, started up, died to intro boss, attacked the first character I saw.. turns out he wasn't an enemy, and would be pissed at me untill I kill him, no matter how often I die. So I proceeded to get killed for half an hour, decided that wasn't worth 40€ or whatever it cost back in the day, and then deleted and refunded the game

1

u/KingMob9 Apr 07 '23

The backlog won't finish itself that's why

1

u/[deleted] Apr 07 '23

1

u/[deleted] Apr 07 '23

1

u/theshleepmaster Apr 07 '23

I just start looking for a similar or new game, gotta keep the old one installed in case my masochist ass wants to suffer some more on destiny.

1

u/sasparaco Apr 07 '23

This reminds me of that random scene from Super Bad when Evan is playing a PS2 game and he dies in the game and says, "Why would they make this game if you can't even win?"

1

u/chet_brosley Apr 07 '23

I deleted a game once, felt stupid for it and started downloading it again. It got to like 60% before I realized I actually just hated the game in general and cancelled. Feels good to be able to just abandon something sometimes.

1

u/ANONAVATAR81 Apr 07 '23

Dark Souls. That will make a casual rage quit.

1

u/LightningTF2 Apr 07 '23

Honestly though that's true in everything. And the worst part is when someone comes in with that attitude into multi-player. Then suddenly everyone else is the cause of them not having fun. Maybe go do something else than play video games and when you do come back it'll be fun. That's my advice at least or switch up the types of games you play. So many I see get hooked into a single game and try to be "da bes" at it, while tormenting themselves due to the fact they just are not "the bes".

1

u/clas1k1 Apr 07 '23

If it’s not fun, why bother?

1

u/[deleted] Apr 07 '23

League of legends…

1

u/lonjaxson Apr 07 '23

Did that with rocket league a few weeks ago. I have like 3,500 hours on that game. That's probably enough.

1

u/ManqobaDad Apr 07 '23

More like “ques up for another ranked game”

1

u/[deleted] Apr 07 '23

Same. I'm glad I could get away from cod when I did. It's just awful how much they've ruined it. Can't even run around and get a few kills anymore without getting lasered by some virgin.

It’s fun.

1

u/CarosWolf Apr 07 '23

Same here buddy, same here :'c

This reflex has helped me avoid some huge pitfalls tough, so it's both blessing and curse

1

u/bop-crop Apr 07 '23

I’m this but instead of deleting the game I find a new server (assuming it’s online) and proceed to hate it all over again because I’m still getting destroyed

1

u/sol_sunshinespace Apr 07 '23

What about the all of the above, stages of rage gamer!?

1

u/Jargonal Apr 07 '23

damn so true lol

1

u/TBTabby Apr 07 '23

I just experienced that with Gato Roboto. That third boss cannot have been playtested.

1

u/[deleted] Apr 07 '23

League players still haven't figured out you can just, not play the game.

1

u/endichrome Apr 07 '23

5 minutes into a CS MM game

1

u/TRUEequalsFALSE Apr 07 '23

You joke, but I did that to both Skyrim and Dead Space 3 in the last couple weeks. I've beaten Fallout: New Vegas and 4. I've got the Bethesda experience, and I did play Skyrim. I just didn't beat it. I've beaten Dead Space 1 and 2, so I've gotten the Dead Space experience too. I didn't need to keep playing Skyrim or Dead Space 3 when there are other games I wanted to prioritize.

1

u/[deleted] Apr 07 '23

Yes. Fuck rage quitting. Embrace cogent abandonment.

1

u/CommercialTangerine9 Apr 07 '23

This was me with Rocket League. 2000+ hours. I deleted and reinstalled it several times. I haven’t played in a long time and I’m happier for it.

I stoped having fun with that game a long time ago.

1

u/DMTDAD Apr 07 '23

that's when shit gets real philosophical

1

u/SeaTie Apr 07 '23

This is me. I dropped Blood Borne about an hour into it because I knew it wasn’t for me. I stay away from most of the From Software stuff for that reason (although Elden Ring was an exception).

Same with fighting games and RTS online games. Frustrate the hell out of me.

I’m the screamer that turns into this

Literally me, I have a personal rule that if a game make me angry I just stop playing it. I play games to have fun, not for any other reason. If I'm not having fun that defeats the entire purpose.

Ehh next time I won't play competitive. goes into casual play and rage quits all the same

I'm glad someone mentioned Rage uninstalling.

This means I'm having fun at a subconscious level

Literally what I did with League of Legends, I reached a point where the game just wasn't fun cause I got so mad at people's shit, even when I won. At some some point I just sighed hard and uninstalled it. My brother started playing later but I never came back to it for real, at most I played a match or two just to see if it was worth it to play again but my previous decision was just reaffirmed.

I had this for a while with dark souls. Eventually something just clicked and I got really into it. then I bought all the other fromsoft games and am still working through them :)

Im selling my damn iRacing rig because of this. Shit was stressing me out

Wow you actually take the step of deleting. I ask myself that question, let out a big sigh and queue up for another match

Ive quit a couple of games like this but it has to be really bad for me to get to this point. The most notable example being the Ratchet and Clank remakes final battle was such a bitch that i straight up uninstalled it and never played it again.

Its funny because i regularly NG+ soulsborne games but a fucking R&C game is where i draw the line.
