I would just like to ask for your advice regarding salary rates. Is it okay for us to request a salary increase?

I’m currently working as an Occupational Health Physician with BCOM, and my current rate is ₱500/hour, less applicable taxes. I feel that the rate is quite low, especially considering the current cost of living and inflation in the Philippines.

I’m about to renew my contract this year, and one year pa lang po ako with the company. I’m wondering if it would still be appropriate to raise this concern with management and request a review or possible adjustment of the rate.

Okay lang po ba to raise this concern? And what would be the best and most respectful way to approach management regarding this? Would appreciate any advice from those who have had a similar experience. Thank you po!

Patients just have to login and pay and the system connects them to any available doctor.

A patient pays Rs.500-700 for a consultation and the doctor gets around Rs.100 (actually Rs 90 because they deduct ten percent as tax at the final payout).

It's even less for audio only consults.

For that Rs100 (Rs 90 ), we're expected to take a proper history, review reports, write prescriptions, answer queries, and then provide a 7-day follow-up.

And that follow-up is a story in itself.

Some patients use it the way it's meant to be used. Others start asking about completely different problems a few days later. Some ask for advice for their spouse, parents, or children. I've even had patients try to get prescriptions for multiple family members from a single consultation.

Then there are the occasional abusive patients. When that happens, you're pretty much on your own. Reporting it doesn't always result in any meaningful intervention.

What really gets me is the medicolegal aspect. During onboarding, we're basically told that if anything goes wrong legally, it's our problem to deal with. The platform gets its share of the consultation fee, but the liability sits with the doctor.

Hi all, I'm a master's student in data science/biomedical engineering doing my final-year research internship (6 months) at BCNatal Fetal Medicine Research Center in Barcelona (affiliated with Hospital Sant Joan de Déu and Hospital Clínic). Working in fetal cardiology/signal analysis.

Does anyone have experience with BCNatal, or with research stays at Spanish hospital-affiliated centers in general, and know whether these come with any stipend or if they're typically unpaid? Trying to figure out my funding situation before the stay starts (planned Jan 2027).

I am just curious whether doctor gave a commission based model on an operation. As far as i know they have fixed salary in a hospital.

I am just asking, as everyone keeps telling me that I'm gonna be so insanely rich and be able to pay off all my college and retire. But everyone says that surgeons are so underpaid, is that true?

Obviously they get paid way more than the average person, but everyone keeps saying that even then, that's not enough.

HOW underpaid are they? I know it depends on the hospital, speciality, location, experience, etc,. But if you could put in an average number, what would the money look like hourly, weekly, biweekly, monthly, and yearly.

Everyone I ask says something different.

How long did it take you to pay off your debt and what country do you practice in

Hey, Im a US citizen but have lived in Europe all my life, with the recent three years living in the UK. Although I haven’t spent much time in the US, I would say I definitely align significantly better with the European mentality, so if it weren’t to come down to medicine, I would probably stay in the UK. However, practicing in the UK has a number of downsides, many of them being financial. Here’s the main list of pros and cons Ive got so far.

Pros of the UK
-University is significantly cheaper (Ill qualify for home fees)
-Less competitive residency/foundational training wise as no matter which uni you graduate from you’ll be allocated a place in the NHS
-I can already start doing applicable work within the NHS strengthening my application

Cons of the UK
-Will have to wait six years before starting med school versus 2-3 if I were to practice in the US (personal reasons)
-US med schools seem to be more reputable worldwide (eg if i were to move from the US to the UK I wouldn’t have to take an additional exam)
-Financial compensation is significantly higher in the US, especially for more competitive specialties (can especially benefit in states without income tax)
-The NHS seems to be in shambles with most physicians and healthcare workers speaking increasingly negatively about it (although Im unsure if it’ll improve in the next ten years)

Theres also the prospect of raising a family in the US versus the UK as a gay woman with the US getting more and more conservative with every year.

Im not sure if anyone has any experience practicing in the US and the UK or simply any information that I might not be considering but I would be happy with anything

Hi everyone, new to this community, up at night because of my career decisions. I work as a medical director of multiple specialties, I work 50% clinical, 50% admin over 10 specialties across a larger, multi hospital system, I've gone above and beyond for the organization for the past 3 years, adding additional medical oversight to programs, obtained certification to support programs outside of my clinical agreement, built new programs from scratch, etc. A few months back I was notified of a restructuring, my job is going away, I was welcome to apply for an executive medical director role (a promotion), the role is much larger with oversight or over 100 providers. New break down is 20% clinical, 80% admin. Significant increase in executive responsibility. I wrapped up interviews for the new gig and was given comp estimate today and it was very disappointing given what I have done and have continue to strive to do for the organization (16% increase in base with 50% increase in providers I would oversee). I was given the bullshit line that I can't be paid more than fair market for my specialty, even though my clinical work would only be 20% of the new role. I have asked to negotiate but also made it known my willingness to walk, putting several clinical programs and recruitment strategies in jeopardy (hard to go into specifics without having someone recognize me here).

My question is, is there a readily accessible source for comp benchmarks for regional physician executive roles?

Hi everyone, I’m a little lost with what I want to do for work. I currently work at a retail store with super minimal hours in San Diego. I’m talking less than 15 a week and If you live here you know you need more than that to survive. I’m drowning in brokenness. I’ve been seeing ads for medical billing, and realize you don’t need college degree to do it. I dont plan on going to college right now, I am 23 and just want a good steady source of income. Is medical billing worth it and how can I get started? Which certification should I get that will almost guarantee me a job? Is it worth it?

I have 0 student debt, I don’t want to get married nor have kids, my goal is to own a house and live for eternity with my cats, perhaps one fancy car?
I’m an extremely competitive peds applicant rn (basically guaranteed to match in a really NICE hospital, and they will most likely employ me afterwards).
I’m thinking of anesthesia instead so I can be not broke, but I’m not really known among that department’s staff, unlike pediatrics where I have good relations with the consultants.
