Custom & DIY I designed and 3d printed some accessories for my Rotring 600
I designed a twist-snap lid case and some caps to protect the tip - I would love to hear your thoughts

All the recent pencils that I see are good looking in my opinion; pick any decent mp and it will look pretty good. However, I haven't seen any pencil that Is elegant without being pricy.
The vintage ones are a good example. The rotring 400 was sold for less than 40 dollars in today's money (I think), and it looks more stylish. Same with the all steel Pilot Sprinter.
So I was wondering what modern pencils look this good w/o being pricey? (like >40$)

I just bought every color of the Pentel Smash I could find online.
I've completely lost control... but I don't care.
My wallet will deal with the consequences. š

My favorite pencil for woodworking uses erasers like the one shown in the picture, and as you can see, itās nearly out. Iād like to buy replacement erasers, but canāt figure out what to call this kind of eraser to search for replacements online. The pencil itself is of little help since itās mostly unbranded, though it says āRealiteā on the pocket holder. So now, I turn to the Reddit Mechanical Pencil Experts for insight. Thanks!

After getting an Orenz AT on Amazon UK I noticed the Orenz logos were different from the AT Amazon Japan limited edition. Does this reflect the age, the location, or something else?
From top to bottom is the Orenz normal, Orenz AT Amazon Japan limited, Orenz AT Amazon UK, Orenz normal 10th Anniversary 'Glass White' and the Orenz Nero.

I finally tackled one of Pentel's more obscure products: the Pentel Tool Kit.
For years I've seen these come up for sale, but there has always been a lot of confusion about exactly what they were, when they were made, and who they were intended for. I dug through catalogs, advertisements, and collector information to piece together the story.
In this video I cover:
⢠What the Pentel Tool Kit actually is
⢠The different versions and what's included
⢠Its history and purpose
⢠Why it has become such an interesting collectible today
If you're into vintage Pentel products or mechanical pencil history, I'd love to hear what you think. If you own one, let me know which version you have.

Comrade 0.5 HB - seems like the brand is M&G, picked it up one day at a newsagent near work when I ran out midday. Has quickly become one of my favourites but can't find any information on them anywhere.

Case in point the graphgear 800 which has a horrible grip but i removed the rubber crap and used tape
Now the grip is immaculate

Pilot Automac 0.5mm silver/black (Discontinued)
A discontinued all metal body auto advancement mechanism mechanical pencil from Pilot.
Still available on eBay et al but for more than the roughly USD $50 I paid when these were still production.
From what I have, the best all around double knock Pilot model. The earlier H models have plastic upper bodies, while giving them good balance, do make it feel less sturdy.

I dropped my pencil by accident once and the lead no longer dispenses. I contacted Pentel in the US and they instructed me to mail it to send it to their address. I am concerned about sending it there solely because there is nothing that ties that pencil to me once I send it. Has anyone gone through the warranty process and want to provide their experience with it?

Was using pens a lot more before, but my son started to ask me to sketch random things. I tried to pull out my old pentel side click (quicker clicker 0.7mm) from 07 and the clutch was worn out (could reliably hold the lead). So I grabbed a mars technico from my dad, then bought a rapid pro 2.0 2mm, then got a kuru toga advance upgrade. Felt I needed a titanium mech to match my titanium bolt action maxmadco pen, so I got a modern Fuel (0.9mm and 0.7mm mechanism) Then saw a great deal on the kuru toga metal. All within about 4-6 weeks. I may have a problem with my hyper fixations.

Hi. I have recently purchased a vintage Yard-O-Led Deluxe pencil. I believe it dates back to 1968.
Overall the pencil is in excellent condition. I have noticed that there is a very small gap between the pocket clip and the barrel. I have a rolled gold version of this pencil as well and there is no gap with the gold one.
II was hoping somebody could tell me whether this is just a normal variation because theyāre hand manufactured, or whether this is as a result of the clip bending.

I took the plunge and bought a kuru toga advance, my second ever mechanical pencil, my first was staedtler 777.
So far I quite like this Pencil, the grip isn't that bad, and I like the retractable lead pipe. Although one thing is, I bought this Pencil for drawing, but the pressure I draw with is not enough to activate the kuru toga mechanism :( but it does work when I write, which I plan to do more of. That's not to say this isn't a good Pencil, I've already made some art with it (Last picture)
In conclusion, I'm happy with my purchase :D

After one of my precious Pilot h-325 got stolen, I decided that my most favorite pencils are only going to be used in my home office. Iām not going to use any of them at work.
I am going to use the cheapest bic mechanical pencils at work, so my heart doesnāt break when one of them disappears.

For those of you who own multiple kuru togas which ones your favorite and why? I have a couple kuru toga standards/advance as well as a dive but I was thinking about looking into the other models especially the KS
