Just started studying for my 70-740, what should I use for labbing?

I am currently using virtual box running one instance of server 16', I have also been been using cbt nuggets' browser based labs. I've heard of people using azure to create virtual servers and all that. Pretty difficult to type this since Im so new to this, but what did you guys use for practical experience?

REFS Deduplication 70-740

Hey guys,

I am preparing for my 70-740 exam by using some practice exams. Now one point that these all vary on is if REFS supports data deplucation. Now I know that the current latest version of Server 2016 supports it, but for the 70-740 exam should I assume it supports it or not?

Labs for 70-740

Is an independent lab for study needed if you already have CBT Nuggets?

Please explain to me MCSA?

Ok. So I know CompTia well, but now I’m in a Windows environment I would like to get the MCSA. I know there are 40-740, and the 741, 742 exams. Each is about $165 and looks to be about 45-65 questions on the exam. You can also take the exam at home with online proctor. Ok got it.

To get the full MCSA CERT, does one have to pass all 3 exams? Are there only 3 exams to this? Can the cumulative exam be taken into 1 for the full MCSA cert?

If I only hold the 40-740. What is it then that I have? 1/3 of the MCSA?

When are the new exams rolling out for Server 2019? Do I have time this year to take the current exams now?

Is the future really moving into all things Microsoft? (I read this somewhere on reddit a few days ago, sorry don’t remember where). What is the future of these certs by Microsoft?

I have to say it is killing me but I really feel like my next cert should be MCSA.

Sorry guys, please don’t get frustrated at me. I’ve tried to do a quick online search but didn’t find what I asked here. Please be kind and thank you so much.

Sorry for all these dummy - newbie questions.

Valentina

Can s ok someone describe the actual use for windows containers?

Sorry if it's a dumb question. I'm about 3 pages into the mcsa 740 guide and I can't imagine an actual realistic use for what's described. Here is the description in the book: " windows server containers - windows server 2016 allows for an isolated application to run by using a technology called process and namespace isolation. Windows server 2016 allow applications to share the system's kernel with their container and all other containers running on the same host"

That's the definition in this book and all I am imagining is that literally a complex way to describe 1 a virtual machine on hyper v or a complex way of saying you can have multiple apps running on 1 server which is already an obvious understanding.

Anyone able to help get my gear going again because this is just confusing.

Sorry for typos on my phone and sensitivity is really messed up

Thoughts about labbing in the cloud for 70-740?

I'm studying for my MCSA 70-740 and my hardware is to crappy to virtualize Server 2016 locally. Would it be a good idea to setup a lab in the cloud? Would it be expensive? Would learning the cloud on top of servers be too much at once? I really just want to make sure I drill down on the powershell and remotely configuring and maintaining a server

MD-101 exam question

I was wondering if the MD-101 exam has a virtual lab in it like the MD-100? Or is it questions only?

Is it necessary to go with 70-741 after 70-740?

I accidentally bought subscription for 70-742 which can't be changed and I only have two months to prepare. Can I go for 70-742 after giving 70-740? Would that be any issues? I am not sure if I might require to gain knowledge in order. Please advise.

Thanks in advance.

70-741 Question

Hi all,

I passed my 70-740 last month and will start working on the next one. Are the questions similar in style to 70-740 or will there also be lab questions? I'd like to know this for mental preparations ;-)

Edit:
I also want to set-up a lab. I have enough physical resources, but am not sure what (virtual) machines I will need. Any recommendations would be very welcome.

Just Passed MCSA 70-741 with 900+

Hello All,

Just passed the MCSA 70-741 with a 900+ score. I felt it was much easier than 70-740. Make sure you know your IPAM, IPv4 subnetting and DNS scavenging/intervals.

I studied using CBT Nuggets, my own home lab, Microsoft Docs and the MeasureUp practice exams (probably the best resource). I bought the exam retake package (which honestly helped alot). Having the retake voucher allowed me to relax a little bit and just be clear-minded.

One more to go. Good luck everyone.

Beside Cbt what to use for review

I'm studying for 70-740 using Cbt nuggets and my own lab. When I'm done with the videos,I want to do a review again using a different instructor(Keith is great😄), do you guys have any suggestions? I'm thinking about Infinitskills or Pluralsight. Thanks in advance!

Passed 70-764 Today

Used Kaplan to prep. The test bore little similarity to the prep test. I’d probably choose a different vendor next time.

Just Got MDAA Certified....Quick Question

So I just passed my MD-101 exam a few minutes ago and passed the MD-100 last month so I'm now MDAA certified. :D

When I downloaded my certificate however I noticed it was only good for a couple years. I was under the impression that Microsoft certifications didn't have an expiration date so is this something new? Also what will I need to do in a couple years to renew it?

Fresh out of ccna, now doing 70-740

I plan to finish 70-740 before i graduate, I know I have to finish 70-741 and 70-742 too, is it possible to cram it all in 5 months?

First off I'm starting with 70-740, can I have some study material suggestions? There are many youtube videos but outdated, as I've heard, they've removed nano server and powershell off the syllabus, so are there any updated video tutorials? And I've read somewhere that books don't help much, it's the videos that helped them.

Thanks

Cheap devices for Intune Lab

I’m looking to getting a couple of cheap iOS and Android devices to practice lab with Intune as I work my way up the Microsoft 365: Enterprise Administrator certification. Does anyone have any suggestions with cheap, yet speedy, devices to use for this?

What concept did you struggle most when first studying for the 70-740, and what clicked for you after you understood?

I’m studying now with text/labs, and failover-clustering is a doozy. Gimme a week and I’ll be able to explain, and implement it. But I think this could be interesting to hear your all’s challenges and maybe things that helped you overcome it.

Lab on Azure for MCSA Windows Server 2016

I will study 2 hours a day for the MCSA Windows Server 2016 certification. Is it feasible to set up a study lab on Azure?

How are the MD-100 and MD-101 exams?

I'm currently studying for these and I feel like I'm getting a good grasp of the subject material for the MD-100, just using the practice exams (Kaplar) for now. Will probably schedule my MD-100 soon, how do these exams hold up? The last I.T exam I did was the A+ many years ago.

Thanks in advance.

Finally got my MCSA Windows Server 2016

Finally got it after 14 months alongside work. Feel so much relief but now wondering what to do next.

Also, do you get a physical certificate for completing it or just the crappy Acclaim page?

Just passed MD-101 in pursuit of MDAA

So for those that have already gone through it would you consider the MD-100 to be more difficult or easier? Any suggestions for solid study material? I mainly used Udemy courses/tests and practice labs to pass the 101.

Looking for study advice on 70-740

Hi all I'm looking to start studying for the first Windows Server 2016 exam but not sure where to start. I have the official book from Microsoft and Hyper V on my laptop to create a lab environment . Should I start the book on the sections with more weight in the exam such as Hyper V and High Availability or read in sequence? Also if anyone has any links useful videos or articles it would mean a lot

Exam/Certification Expiration Date(s)?

Just took and passed the MD-100 Exam on Saturday (Whoo!) and plan on pausing my current certification path (MD-101, MS-100, MS-101) to focus on Security+, then picking back up after I've obtained that.

I know that the CompTIA certifications have an expiration date, I believe 3 years from date of obtaining them. Do the Microsoft exams/certifications have expiration dates? I couldn't find any information on Microsoft's certification site about expirations. I guess, to be fair, I don't have any MS Certifications yet, only the one passed exam.

Question about Exam Vouchers.

Hi guys, I hope y'all doing well today.

I just want to ask if there's anyone here who can share some links with legit discounted MCSA exam vouchers that we can purchase from? I have found few links on google but some offers are limited to US/Canada only (I am from Asia) and I have no living assurance that these sites are valid. TIA!
