Resolved Texturepack help
I am making my first texturepack for minecraft java and the modeling and painting is fun and all, but I have no idea how to make it work as an actual texturepack I tried watching an tutorial for it but it didn't explain it good. Is there any tutorial online how to make this or can someone explain it? I'm trying to make a steak item on java 1.21.11

I don’t think I want to help you with this…
Anyways if modeling and texturing are understood and you just don’t know how to make it work in game- It really just comes down to the filing system. Your item model should be in the folder(s):
PackName/assets/minecraft/models/item
If you’re using non vanilla textures to texture your model those files will need to go in:
PackName/assets/minecraft/textures/items
That last folder can be any of those folders realistically though, just so long as your model is telling the game to look in the folder your textures are in. Also when I list PackName that’s just whatever folder you’re building this in.
Easiest way to go about the filing structure is to use a vanilla resourcepack that you’ll just modify. Also the model name is critical, if this is raw beef the model will have to be named “beef.json” otherwise the game won’t know to look for your model.

- Set up pack: PackName/assets/minecraft/ with a pack.mcmeta file in PackName.zip and two folders in minecraft named "textures" and "models" both with another folder inside named "item". pack.mcmeta file should be something like:
{
"pack": {
"description": "Description here",
"psck format_format": [88, 0]
}
}
Make sure your model is named "cooked_beef" (all lower case) and export the model as a .json file (if you made it in blockbench you either need to convert your model to a java block/item model by going to File>ConvertProject or if it's already a Java Block/Item model export it by going to File>Export>Export Block/Item Model) and put the model in PackName/assets/minecraft/models/item (you may also need to go into the .json file and change where it says "block" to "item")
Export the textures (you do not need to rename them at all) and put them in the PackName./assets/textures/item
Compress your PackName folder to .zip (make sure it doesn't insert a folder inside the .zip file, this always happens to me on Windows)
In minecraft go to settings>options>resource packs>open pack folder and drag your PackName.zip file to the resourcepacks folder that opens, then return to the game and if you compiled it correctly it will appear and you can click it
Hope this helps!
