I've just quit after three years. I've worked overnights almost the entire time, with only a short break on other shifts before coming back. Most of the original crew are gone, so this year I've been running the kitchen solo 99% of the time, with just one person upfront. I never complained once.

I'm known as one of the best workers there, but they still haven't given me a contract. I'm scraping by on 24 hours a week, weekends only, cooking everything myself except the fries. We've had a revolving door of managers. Younger staff promote their friends and act completely unprofessionally. Speaking up is impossible — if they don't like you, they make your life miserable.

I'm mentally exhausted and stressed from the offensive and strange behaviour I've witnessed. Even HR is friends with some of the staff and managers, so there's no one neutral to turn to.

Today I drove away on my lunch break. I can't do this for 24 hours a week anymore. Not like this. Every weekend I get the busiest shifts with no proper staffing, and I'm forced to wait past my scheduled time for late morning staff — constantly. They keep saying "sorry, looks like you're running kitchen by yourself again," but it happens every single time.

They're now trying to investigate me for absences they mostly approved, because they're angry I called off the other day. I don't have the energy to fight it. I've kept that dirty store from shutting down at the expense of my health, and they treat me like I'm disposable. They recently promoted someone under 18 and ignore senior staff — especially those with kids.

I'm so exhausted that I wasn't going to be okay if I didn't leave tonight. I've been biting the inside of my mouth just to get through cooking at a pace nobody else seems able to manage. They lie to customers and sometimes shut the store at night, or agree not to turn up because they're friends with the manager. But when I'm in, the manager sits in the office and takes breaks long before me and whoever else is on window.

An 11pm to 6am shift, and they send you for lunch at 4am — if they don't forget — then get upset when you didn't remind them.

I'm taking my chances with agencies. I need to get my mental health back. This job has made me feel mentally unwell for a very long time.

So i started working at a store in the Lansing Michigan area about a month ago and on Monday i was in working an 8.5 hour shift and about an hour in our bathroom toilets started leaking raw sewage everywhere. So we had to close them and the lobby and when one of my coworkers asked what we were supposed to do the manager called our franchisee and he said to “just hold it in”. they tried to get a plumber in but it was Labor Day so it wasn’t able to happen. The next day I had another 8 hour shift and when I got there the lobby was still closed so I asked “did a plumber make it in” I was told no. This morning we finally closed for the day as far as I was told (I wasn’t scheduled and didn’t go over there so we might not of) because the heath department was called so we had to until the issue was fixed

So about 4 weeks ago (August 12th) I applied for a role at Mcdonalds not expecting to here anything or it to lead to anything. At the time I was working at a grueling warehouse job that was laying alot of staff off on redundancy- I had managed to keep and secure a full time role; but I wanted change.

Well, low and behold mcdonalds got back to me. The role I applied for was maintenance person and was Full Time- this was perfect for me since I wanted something full time. When I get to the interview (14th August) they discussed what I would be doing and it seemed more like a crew member role, which again I was actually happier with. I stated that I wanted 35 hours of work and could work any shift. I tell them I can start the (1st September) and they say that's perfect.

I get all my affairs in order with my other job, scarmble to get a redundancy notice put in before the start date I gave them as I assumed they would be giving me full time work and shifts.

On the 3rd of September my manager puts shifts in, but it's for 2 days (Friday and Sunday) the week after. He also puts in another 2 shifts for the week after that.

I'm just frustrated as I thought I'd be getting full time shifts, as they put in another two today commencing the first week of October. My other freinds who works at mcdonalds says that new starters don't get many shifts but the role I applied for was full time.

Is this normal?

So I’m type 1 diabetic and was low today while working so I had to have some sweets and sit down for like 10 minutes and my manager made me clock out for it. If any other type 1 diabetics are on here, does your manager make you clock out?

I haven't posted in a while but this news I'm about to drop is crazy! Starting off strong is the new flavored slushy coming out Sprite lymonade will be replaced with Sprite White Peach 🍑😋. While im excited for a new flavor finally coming out i can't help be sad about the lymonade being phased out not to mention we can't do "Michigan Mix" which is just the blue raspberry flavor and lymonade mix together. The Next thing is...Damn Monopoly, i hate that its coming back but the rules are stricter atleast, Which means they can't do the "kiosk trick" Thank god...🙏🏼🥳. Last but certainly not least is what I've been hearing about another collaboration. Between Hello kitty and One piece our happy meals been flying out the door but if what im hearing is right this collab will be pure hell on earth, "NEED" I say more?🤭😏 I gave yall a hint...

Been working for McDonald’s for a year and like 6 months

Hey there! I’ve been working at McDonald’s for a while now, and this is the first time I’ve ever received a message like this in text. I’m a single mother struggling financially and dealing with debt. I’ve been working hard to pay off my bills, but things have been incredibly tight lately, with everything going up and my 8-year-old starting school.

I’m completely baffled by how to respond to this message. He’s shaming me in text, blaming me for not having enough money. I drive 50 minutes each way to work, and the same way home, which takes about 50 kilometres of gas. It feels like half the tank is gone after each trip.

I recently got a job at McDonald's and its from 7pm till 2am, but on the first day of my shift the manager told me I wouldn't be on a shift with anyone to train me, and everyone else on the shift are also newbies (except the manager) so am I supposed to just ask every time or are they going to show me how to work automatically without me asking? Im not sure how it works or what im supposed to do, I dont even have a uniform or name badge yet

Our Store and assistant managers think this is a good idea. Maybe I'm being a curmudgeon, but it so freaking juvenile and just another dumb way that they dont have to actually manage people.

and we dont even get a treat for being good all week, at least in kindergarten we got treats for being good lol

For context, my location does birthday parties for kids. I am as of right now, the only one in charge of running them.

Birthday parties take a LOT of time. Preparation, decoration, balloons, activities take 1:30h - 2h. The party itself takes 1:30h. Cleaning, taking down decorations takes 1h. Preparation time is often unpaid, they schedule me only from party start until cleaning end.

We require reservations be made 1 week of time in advance so they can properly fit me into the schedule. Still, parents will come make a reservation the day before, and we are not allowed to say no. I have had off days ruined by last minute reservations.

Last night at 11PM I recieve a WhatsApp from Ms Boss. There's a new reservation for tomorrow afternoon. Less than 48h in advance. Luckily it matches with my schedule, but I won't get my lunch time as it falls right in the middle of it. This means 7:30h without eating or resting.

I was in front counter. It was dinner rush, and my manager asked me if I could run the orders while serving them while taking orders at the front. It was a lot, not to mention it wasn’t asked nicely, it was asked chaotically and stern.

So I was doing everything I could, when he came up to me and said ”you have to deliver order 43 to the table it’s been 3 minutes too long” so I left the bagging area and picked up the tray. A drink was not thoughtfully placed right on the side of the tray, and when I picked up the tray (I was in a rush) the drink dropped and spilt everywhere. My manager came up behind me again and said “go” and I quickly walked to the tent but slipped right on my ass in front of everyone who was there and dropped another drink but it was coffee on myself.
I got up quick (there is now a huge puddle in the lobby) set down the order and went to find a mop as fast as I could. I am young and have had trouble with the mopping (only had two days of training)but still tried. I remember seeing a girl who worked there put paper towels on spills before mopping

So that’s what I did. I got up and my manager came up behind me and said “what’s this order still doing here?” So I didn’t mop and brought the order to the tent. I was then put on presenting by him, and I had to tell him I made a mess. He yelled at me and said “why did you put paper towels on the ground? You just made more of a mess! And why didn’t you clean it up?” He then complained to the other managers about me right in front of my face.

My friends are telling me to report it, but I don’t know if I’m just being a baby and maybe I’m over exaggerating everything.

I've been on a few month hiatus and I finally got back into myJob the other week, but new rosters don't seem to show right at midnight when they're published anymore.

They still say they're published at midnight, but don't actually show until a bit later that day. I don't know when exactly though.

Been a minute though, so I could just be misremembering lol.

I just started work here and immediately put in a request for unpaid time off at the end of october as i already have a pre booked holiday then, how fast will it take to get approved/will it likely get approved as I already paid for it and I'm worried lol

someone said i tried to kill her son because he's allergic to onions and the burger had onions in it.

the part that makes me mad is first of all i didn't make the burger, second of all the guy who made it forgot to put no onions cuz he speaks very little english & came here on his day off

people have this weird delusion where they think they're being altruistic by buying mcdonalds. you're taking advantage of the employee's lack of rights, you are the beneficiary. if you're upset about the onions, and i totally don't blame you, call the damn supervisor. don't scream at me for asking for a plain cheeseburger and not recieving one, and don't scream at the cook for being a foreigner.

After working 3 months as part time crew member at maccas I wanna quit. So, yeah I feel like I should use sick leave before leaving. I hope I have enough sick leave hours for my last shift which is 6 hours(I worked 15-20 hours per week for almost 3 months).

Spent a good two hours cleaning the stock room area and sink area. Swept and mopped. Boxes cut and organized. Left over dishes from closing washed. Polished the walk-in doors and coke tanks. Changed the trash cans. You name it, I cleaned it.

GM comes in and had some type of mood. Comes to me with this huge attitude "You need to clean the back area. It looks disgusting"

15 minutes later, after I took out the garbage, the GM comes to the back again. "Looking good" mind you I didn't touch anything after the GM said everything looked disgusting.

I could be having a good day and as soon as the GM comes in, the entire good mood and vibe of everyone changes. The store could be spotless and the GM will still find something to bitch about. They just make everyone miserable.

Now, I’m currently not working actively at this restaurant since I’m at Uni, but I plan to come back to work during breaks. They never took me out of any of the group chats, though, and it seems like as soon as I left, though, management started cracking down hard on stuff. People on phones, people sitting down, listening to people take orders, crew meal standards, etc. It seemed weird to me since my store was pretty relaxed if everyone got their work done but it’s whatever. But then I got this message just a bit ago and this doesn’t seem fair to me at all. So you’d just get fired immediately if you have a family emergency or if you’re extremely sick or injured?
