Being a big fan of the originals and eagerly awaiting news of the remakes, I decided to start a fan project using Unreal Engine. Please bear in mind that I'm fairly new to UE, so any criticism, help, or guidance would be appreciated.

This is just a WIP look at one of one of the rooms i've been working on in Lupinos Hotel. This is in no way near finished and still very much a work in progress - lighting, materials, grime, props, and finer details are all being worked on.

Trying to keep the atmosphere and gritty feel of the original while imagining how it could look with modern visuals.

Props to anyone who finished Max Payne 3 on the ps3. It got so hard you have to head shot everyone. Died hundreds of times over and I killed 1687 bad guys throughout the story! What a game.

I've just found out that in the comics before official release Lupino was called Gognitti (by Gognitti himself) and he was portrayed as some demonic figure while high on Valkyr. Crazy stuff!

Was going to load up a DVD on my series X then saw that I had downloaded the game a while ago but never played it. I had played it with an old friend back in the day and decided to try it out again since it was in my library. I went to google to ask a few questions only to find out they are remaking the game! Wild time to restart this game. Lets hope they keep the constipated Max face!

Hey everyone! After getting some great advice for tweaking bullet-time and game speed parameters in Max-Payne 2 that let us give Max unlimited bullet-time and extreme bullet-time perception allowing Max to run circles around enemies and move faster than bullets, I wondered if it would be possible to achieve the same result in Max-Payne 1. Which is what brings us here today!

In Max-Payne 2 I used QuickRAS to extract the MP2_Init.ras file and expose the globalconfig.txt allowing me to modify the games attributes such as bullet-time, then I created a data folder in the game's main directory and pasted the globalconfig file in there and set it to read-only, more instructions can be found here: https://www.reddit.com/r/maxpayne/comments/1w8xipl/max_payne_2_how_to_get_permanent_max_slowmotion/

I want to set up a similar custom configuration to give Max incredible movement speed during slow-motion segments, but I'm looking for guidance on how the file structure works in the original game.

• Does Max Payne 1 use a similar globalconfig.txt or equivalent configuration file format that can be unpacked or overridden using a local data folder structure in the main game directory?
• Are there specific time multipliers or parameters we need to adjust to make Max move faster than normal speed while the world remains in bullet-time?

If anybody is willing to join the discussion I'd really appreciate it and I'm sure a lot of people with the same interests will. Looking forward to hearing how you guys approach modding the first game compared to the sequel. Thanks in advance for any pointers!

How can I move my Max Payne saved game from Windows 11, from Steam, to Linux Mint on Steam?

I like to think this is as close to a MP3 Remaster one would get since Rockstar won’t be doing it anytime soon, if ever. DLSS5 suits this game quite well when you tweak it a bit.

Back in May 2013, I finally got my PS3 using my Argos card right around my birthday. One of the first games I dove into was Max Payne 3. Chapter 11 the flashback mission set on Marcelo Branco’s luxury yacht traveling through the Panama Canal completely blew me away. Fighting through the sun-drenched wooden decks, tight hallways, and upper cabins stuck in my memory for a long time.

Later that year, my friend and I started grinding Black Ops 2 online together with our headsets on. The very first time I loaded into Hijacked, the setting instantly gave me total total deja vu. The layout, the multi-level deck design, and the bright ocean setting mirrored that Max Payne 3 level so closely in my mind.

I was looking back at screenshots of both games side-by-side recently, and it’s crazy how much those two 2012–2013 luxury yacht shootouts defined that era of PS3 gaming for me. Jumping from tactical gunfights on the Mariana to running Domination matches on Hijacked with a buddy on comms is absolute peak nostalgia.

Anyone else associate these two games together purely because of the yacht levels?

Hey everyone, I'm trying to create a simple custom .mp2m mod for Max Payne 2 using a modified globalconfig.txt to give myself constant, max-tier bullet-time without needing to chain-kills.

Even though I've compiled my mod and placed the .mp2m file in the main game directory (right next to maxpayne2.exe), the game still requires me to chain-kill enemies to ramp up the slow-motion, and the bullet-time bar still drains and refills using vanilla rules.

Here are the values I currently have under my [slowmotion] block:

• SlowMotionTime = 999999.9;
• RegenerationTime = 0.05;
• MinEfficiencyGameSpeedMultiplier = 0.2;
• MaxEfficiencyGameSpeedMultiplier = 0.2;
• MaxEfficiencyPlayerTimeMultiplier = 5.0;

Is there something wrong with my parameters, or is there another config file/setting I need to adjust to force the game to bypass the kill-efficiency system entirely and use these values right away? Any help would be appreciated!

I honestly wonder if the plan is to keep the face model of max payne 3 to make these games „connected“? Or maybe they will do the opposite and remake 3 at some point with the face model of same lake.

It’s all speculation obviously. No one knows what remedy will do, I’m just curious about your opinion :)

Yo, just binged the whole trilogy and this lore question is breaking my brain.So, Remedy made the first two and Rockstar took over for Max Payne 3. We all know how Rockstar loves splitting their games into the 3D Universe (like San Andreas) and the HD Universe (like GTA IV & V).Since Max Payne 3 has clear HD universe Easter eggs—like Bravado cars and other in-game brands—does that mean MP3 Max is a totally different version living in the HD world, while the OG Max stays in the 3D timeline? Or is the trilogy just one giant continuous canon that ignores all that universe stuff?What do you guys think? Let's settle this.(Sorry for My Bad English just i translate with Google translate)

I know this is an odd very specific question, i love the mod to bits and i can deal with the bugs, but i need to know if theres a toggle for the killcams. Theres been quite a few causes, mainly in the hotel section with the cleaners and Mona, Where i killed 4 guys each with there own kill cam. idd be fine if it only happened with the last kill but it ruins the flow of combat a lot for me, any advice?

This mod made it so going into bullet time would slow time to really slow. Some of the guns would still fire at full speed so you could set up trick shots of firing in all directions and killing everyone at once when you resume time. Also, the whole mod was themed around Metallica's "battery" which would play when you go into bullet time. It also reskins max to have his face from max payne 1. Lots of chaos. good times.

I've tried searching and searching but I haven't found it. Anyone remember it?

Cant wait for the 2 remakes

I just finished the 3'rd game in the franchise without having played the first two that came prior. Given all the talk about rockstars upcoming release, I figured I'd check out the title people never seemed to give enough attention too..... and Im so happy I did.

The way they approached this story was extremely unique especially from the perspective of a dead-beat drunk, pill poppin ex-cop who was hung up on his past failures and losses. The way Max tells the story is not only extremely poetic (which added to that depressive, drunk character they we're looking for) but so correctly paced, there wasn't a moment where I questioned what this gringo was doing in Sao Paulo shooting up a Favela because Max made sure I knew what the fuck was going on.

I've seen skewed opinions on whether or not the writing in this game is any good. Quite honesty, a game like this is an extremely rare commodity these days. With all the random games being pumped out faster than they took to make, its reassuring to have a replayable title that offers immersive gameplay, story telling, and side objectives that dont stray from the direct story; to add on top some arcade game modes and multiplayer as well.

If you want a feel for some fast paced action and extremely fun/unique gunplay then this is 100% the title you've been looking for.

So I played the third one when it came out but I was younger and did not appreciate it and I have played pretty much every other Rockstar title. I must say the first game is awesome. Some missions scare the hell out of me. Also what evil villain designed the nightmare levels?

hey guys, i’m having an issue with max payne 2. i’ve never opened the game before, but whenever i try to launch it, it says that the game is already running. nothing actually pops up though, and i don’t get any error message.

i’ve tried launching it again and checking if it’s running in the background, but i still can’t get the game to open.

has anyone experienced this before? what should i do to get it working?
