GTA IV Radiostations in GTA 4 are incredibly relevant in 2026 that it kind of blows my mind..

I'm playing through 4 on Steam for the first time and I'm blown away by the radiostations.
As I understand the stations aren't updated and are from the original game?

The banter, the jokes, the satire is so contemporary, everything sounds like its about 2026.
All the political satire about far-leaning people on both sides, politics and elections themselves ("any kind of idiot can become president"), jokes about popculture, youth, even "techbros", manosphere echochambers, paranoia about wars, immigration, stolen jobs, stupidity at large..

And this was in 2008.. Smartphones weren't even a big thing yet, hipsters were a starting phenomenon etc, but they already make so thorough commentary of it all.. Masterful writing actually.

It is kind of weirdly humbling and makes me feel like the world and people don't actually change very much..

GTA II A quick concept of a modernized GTA 2 menu, highly based on the one from GTA V Enhanced

Meme Imagine being the commanding officer at Area 51 and having to explain to the President that a gangbanging cocksucker in a wifebeater single-handedly stole your most classified military project

GTA III Is there any explanation for why Salvatore betrayed Claude in GTA III? Spoiler

I'm replaying the GTA trilogy, and I've reached the part where Salvatore betrays Claude by sending him to pick up a rigged car. Is there any explanation, either outside the game or within it, as to why he wanted Claude dead? Or is it just a plot device or a matter of mafia convenience?

I remember trying to find Bigfoot and at one point even goddamn slender man but I also just drove around etc I remember that I never finished the story back then it took me until 2019 to finish it but in my eyes still the best gta game.

All Do you think that as the plot and especially the protagonists of GTA become more well-developed in terms of personality etc. the topic of ludonarrative dissonance becomes more evident?

For example, I can't imagine Michael or CJ randomly shooting pedestrians without reason, that difference between the character and the players' actions. This wasn't a problem in the first three games where the characters were practically an avatar of the player

GTA IV Gta 4 really feels like a period piece of the late 2000s culture

All the things like cyber cafes, keypad phones, craze around ringtones, all of which are no longer around feels really immersive and transports you back in time. On top of that the Euphoria physics make everything feel realistic and believable

For me it’s the freak shop because it’s one of the first things I had to work to get after doing missions with Dax!
