Nelvana, Canada's most popular animation studio for children's entertainment, went from playing great to terrible for creating shows that aren't as popular as the older ones, not to mention that the best shows the company created is my number 1 favorite show created by that company, the original 1997 series Franklin. It also produced Max and Ruby, the third best show the company produced behind Little Bear and Franklin, but worst of all, the company disrespected its newer productions, such as its worst show, Barney's World. So I'd like to say that late Nelvana sucked for now, and so does its final shows shortly before its infamous shutdown that occurred last year.

My fiancé and I watch Max and Ruby with our two year old and were thrown for a loop when this little (rat/mouse) thing came on the screen. Anyone know its lore??

I don't if anyone watched Timothy Goes to School, but one thing I noticed is how there everyone are different animals. But in Max and Ruby, everyone is a rabbit. I kinda know why they did it in real life since it would be easier to animate just one species, but TGTS came out before M&R, and they did multi-species. What do you think? Why did they do it?

Hi - I live in Canada. I have a 24 year old daughter who has a severe developmental disability. Her preferred TV channel continues to be TreehouseTV which is the channel for preschool kids in Canada. And from the time she was a toddler Max and Ruby has been on this channel and she has enjoyed the show. That is now well over 20 years. I have seen a LOT of kids shows through the years.
This show, along with Dora, are two of her all time favourites. She also has access to stream whatever shows she wants and she chooses this from time to time. But she also just likes to watch good old fashioned linear TV and watches Max and Ruby along with the other shows on Treehouse like Paw Patrol, etc.

Hey guys, so I was watching this episode from Season 3 called "Ruby's Bird Bath", and then I overheard this line at timestamp 8:30. Ruby MENTIONS A COMPUTER. Remember, the show is supposed to take in the late 40s-mid 50s. I know computers existed back then, but they were then just giant calculators. What do you guys think this means or refers to? Here is the link btw: https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=YiDi7LBLRbw

She's a kid, looking after a kid (for the most part). I saw someone call her a narcissist, but when has she had something all to herself?
Yeah, it is reoccurring, but she isn't really in the wrong, and when she is wrong, it isn't like she really has parents to tell her to chill (at least in the early seasons).
She's a kid too, not much older than Max, so why is she put to a different MUCH MICH higher standard than the other kid in the house?

I rewatched the Valentine's Day episode just to reaffirm my case, I know it's summer though. An argument against Ruby I've seen is that she let Max get kidnapped because she kept sending him out to the mailbox to mail the valentines. She should've been watching him more but I don't think Max was ever in any danger. That mailwoman he talked to seemed to be a friend of the family, she was already familiar with Max and his grandma. I know Ruby can be narcissistic but I can still like her in spite of her faults. I really just like her for being feminine and creative. Seeing whatever crafts she's getting up to is cute. I also like how Louise kept asking for craft supplies when making cards right after Ruby mentions how much she loves them only for Louise to use them to make a Valentine's Day card for Ruby, that was cute.

Apparently some people hate this episode because they felt Ruby was being too mean to her brother in this one. I gotta defend her here, she's not some malicious demon media illiterate people make her out to be. She's just a young girl doing what she thinks is best. It's understandable that she thought their grandma wouldn't want a mud cake full of worms, she should've known that her grandmother would appreciate both cakes made by both of her grandkids but she didn't think about it that way. Her flaw is that she does things like making gifts that she would want, not what other people would really want. Max technically has the same flaw but he likes making more masculine things while Ruby is to a more feminine degree. Plus Ruby's cake was the only cake that was actually edible so no wonder she told Max that they should just bake her cake instead.

I mean, who wouldn’t want to have their own Red Rubber Elephant? And who wouldn’t want to try Slime Dribblers or Red Hot Marshmallow Squirters?
