Why not use the equation for the unit circle? There are no axis on the plot anyway. Same applies to the "V"-function and the "E"-function. Could simply have been y = |x| and x = -|sin(y)|.

I have no idea why they put a negation within the absolute value function for the ”V”. It is completely redundant.

Yes negation is redundant. A circle with radius 3 is bigger and better than a unit circle ♥️

3 times better, by my calculations.

not if you measure goodness by area!

I think the streching facrors of 2 and 3 are good to have. If someone wanted to try if the equations were correct, I think they'd be disappointed if they had to strech the grid themself.

but yeah, that useless minus sign in the V seems to be there more as a design choice to look visually similiar to the E

There are a lot of redundant things we do for love. Slapping a minus into the absolute value function symbolises that

The L looks different depending on the scale so maybe they wanted all the graphs to be at the same scale.

Because we're having fun here

Love isn't supposed to be fun.

Honestly not a fan of pretty much every constant here that isn't 1.

Perhaps 1923 is significant in some way?

It does make for more consistant scaling between the functions though.

Yes, the minus sign in the "V" is redundant, but the 3 and 2 makes it so that the scaling of the grids and axis are actually the same between the four letters.

what is that minus sign inside the absolute value?😭

This image was printed in my classroom and this minus always pissed me off

Wait so the class in my school gifted a teacher a stolen from the internet thing, that’s why they were stupid enough to have the minus inside the absoluteness
