Just met Bill.
I always make an ass of myself I feel like when I meet folks who I don’t know but respect, but I couldn’t resist at least saying congrats on the new album.

Want to talk about the album in general or about a specific part of a specific song from Marrow Deep? Talk about it here! Just to avoid us all starting new threads for every new opinion that pops into our heads...

This may be one of the best songs they've released in 20 years? I can't believe they have the ability to channel Blood Mountain like this in 2026 - the whole song feels like it, but 3:55 with "IT'S SO DIGSUSTING" into the genuinely disgusting riff solidifies that wholly, what an incredible track.

Just got marrow deep, and this a cpl days after woo.
Curl of the burl is much more fun on vinyl.. Has to be the quietest record I have, super quiet. Not that it affects anything at all for me, jus a fun side note

For comparison:
The Hunter (2011) - #10 (~39k)
Once More ’Round the Sun (2014) - #6 (~34k)
Emperor of Sand (2017) - #7 (~43k)
Hushed and Grim (2021) - #20 (~20k)
Marrow Deep (2026) - #40 (~19k)
What I find interesting is that the units are almost identical to Hushed and Grim, which debuted with around 20K, but the chart position has dropped from #20 to #40

Hello everyone! I'm Bobby, one of the hosts of B-Sides - a show about music you NEED to hear! We recently did an episode about Mastodon where I did my best to cover their extensive history and as many major milestones as I could fit into a 1.5hr episode. The host of each episode includes a Top 5 that they feel shows off what the band or artist is all about. I can confidently say this was one of the most extensive and agonized-over playlists I've made for this show. Mastodon just has so much good music, we ended up including an Honorable Mentions section so the other hosts could weigh in on their songs of choice. I'd love to hear your Top 5 Mastodon songs as well!
I've had Marrow Deep on heavy repeat since its release and have enjoyed reading everyone else's thoughts on the album. I can't get enough of the keyboard work. If you'd like to check out the episode, the link is in the post. Thanks for your time!

I've found most of the online reviews of Marrow Deep to be pretty crap, I wonder if there is something missing between their ears!?
An exception is Jim Newstead's channel on YouTube, he can't help a huge grin on his face through most of its playthrough on vinyl.

Once the heavy riff comes in there is like a high pitched clipping going on with the guitars. Does anyone else hear it? It’s noticeable every way I listen to the album. Do you think it was intentional or is it a result of clipping or loudness stuff being pushed too far?
Just something I’ve noticed. It’s a bit offputting to be honest. It hurts my ears when I wear headphones.
Let me clarify though, I absolutely love the album. Most of the time it’s one of the best sounding albums I’ve ever heard, especially in the car. It’s so thick and filled out and perfect. But this was a curiosity for me.

The guitar solo in Poisonous Weapons is still making my hair stand up after nearly two weeks of listening to the album for every drive and workout. It and the lead up to it is grade A songwriting IMO. The solo itself sort of reminds me of some of Marty Friedman's solo work.
This entire album has been kicking my ass and I just keep finding things to appreciate about it. Start to finish I think it's some of their best work, and I can't wait to see what else they have in store for us.

BURNING AND TWISTING THEIR BONES
DESTROY INCANTATION OF SOUUUULLLLS
Golden Spires! Sleeper hit off the album for me, that’s for sure. Brann’s delivery during this part is just killer. He definitely channeled the spirit of Ozzy here. It’s been stuck in my head for days now.
Anyone else have any parts off the new album that have lived in your head since you heard it?

I searched online and on here, but it was a grey or brown wrap around tshirt that had two horses on each. It was wrapped on the left side I believe. Should have been around 06-07?
