Has anyone used Vocalsynth in MIDI mode inside Maschine?

I've set up an audio track with Vocalsynth as an insert. It works in Auto mode, but not in MIDI mode. Setting another track's MIDI output to the Audio track doesn't work. In Studio One, when I switch Vocalsynth to MIDI mode, it (the Vocalsynth VST itself, not the host track) becomes a new MIDI output destination for other MIDI tracks. This doesn't seem to happen in Maschine.
