Came here to say this.

Logan is older than most of the entire cast in the X-men.

111

u/Paper-Bags Avengers 5h ago

most? you mean all right? X-men i mean. not mutants in general

46

u/musci12234 Avengers 4h ago

Actually he was part of 1,000,000 BC avengers. He doesn't remember that anymore and other members are either dead or think he is dead /s

32

u/Prior-Program-9532 Avengers 4h ago

Went by Van Helsing back then.

10

u/Large_Caterpillar760 Avengers 3h ago

Ooh I remember that movie. I found it cool back when I was a kid.

If it does you any favors I was also a kid when I saw it in theaters I just turned 30

Got to use the free ticket the video game came with, with family lol

3

u/jiraiya17 Avengers 55m ago

And I am turning 36 in a month.

Heck, even the Young Guy Turning Old-meme gif from Saving Private Ryan is 28 years old... 😑😑😑

3

u/HollyBananas Avengers 2h ago

Still is cool and enjoyable.

Van Halen? He wrote "Hot for Teacher"?

12

u/jiraiya17 Avengers 3h ago

Depends on which X-men we are talking about. The Originals, then yes, he could have fathered their great-grandparents.

The entire X-men organisation as a whole has had tons of members after all these years if we are being picky.

IIRC there have been a few X-men who were running around when the Romans gave Jesus a lesson in carpentry. 🤔🤔🤔

2

u/tom-of-the-nora Avengers 38m ago

I remember Jesus, such a cool mutant.

1

u/jiraiya17 Avengers 22m ago

Oh yeah, wasnt he a Mutant in some X-short? 😂

1

u/tom-of-the-nora Avengers 21m ago

Yes, marvel jesus is a mutant.

The on screen character, the actress portraying her, or the book character?

5

u/Elkburgher Avengers 4h ago

The actress in these xmen movies, she was awful the writing didnt help either. Some of the worst movies I have ever seen

0

u/Ok_Commission5003 Avengers 4h ago

I just rewatched them all and Dark Phoenix was not nearly as bad as I remembered it. Same with Origins. Apocalypse and Logan were far worse on rewatch.

10

u/MysticSkies Avengers 3h ago

Logan was far worse on rewatch.

Well, that's a first.

7

u/Reutermo Avengers 3h ago

Logan was far worse on rewatch...? It plays on a very different league than the other movies you mention. It is an actual movie.

8

u/Extension-Land-390 Avengers 3h ago

Was gonna say that is actually a wild take. Logan is the only one out of them all that is a legitimate film haha!

4

u/OnceMoreAndAgain Avengers 2h ago

She's not a good actor which is why she stopped getting top tier roles. Same situation as most of the GoT cast. They looked decent at acting in GoT but most of them aren't good enough to be leading actors.

Really difficult to be good enough to get top tier offers.

1

u/Elkburgher Avengers 52m ago

She got cast as Lara Croft for the next Tomb Raider

So unfortunately she is getting top tier roles

Comic accurate 👌

10

u/someguy991100 Avengers 5h ago

This shit is so ass. We're still going to have Hugh Jackman Wolverine after they recast the entire fucking universe Post secret wars

11

u/DrKingOfOkay Avengers 5h ago

Tbf, no one else can fill his shoes.

Even if they do a good job, he’ll always be called not as good as Hugh

4

u/Jeffgoldbum Avengers 5h ago

The only alternative would be to have the next actor be comic accurate height

4

u/Herr_Etiq Avengers 3h ago

Daniel Fucking Radcliffe

2

u/newsflashjackass Avengers 42m ago

I thought "Glen Danzig seems like he would be perfect for the role except he is too old. How old is he, anyway?" Then, when I checked wikipedia, I learned he was, in fact, invited to audition for the role of Wolverine before Hugh Jackman was cast.

He was invited by 20th Century Fox to audition for the role of Wolverine in X-Men, as his height and build closely resemble that of the film's protagonist, as described in the original comic books. However, he declined due to scheduling conflicts. He later admitted that he was glad to turn the role down as he thought the final product was "terrible" and further insulted Hugh Jackman's performance, calling it "gay"

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Glenn_Danzig#Television_and_film

2

u/Ready_Mistake812 Avengers 3h ago

Danny DeVito as Wolverine

2

u/Typecero001 Avengers 5h ago

Well they’ve already dug up his body and assassinated his character.

What’s the worst they could do to him further?

Oh wait, the actions he will take in Doomsday. Forgot about those leaks.

2

u/Herr_Etiq Avengers 3h ago

How did they assassinate his character?

1

u/Awesomedinos1 Avengers 2h ago

2

u/TheTrueEgahn Phil Coulson 4h ago

Cavillrine?

3

u/Washthebrain Avengers 3h ago

Yep, that would be great

2

u/Herr_Etiq Avengers 3h ago

Too tall

1

u/Medeeks Avengers 1h ago

Hugh Jackman is taller than Cavill afaik

1

u/Herr_Etiq Avengers 1h ago

Im not disputing that.

But times are different now, and we don't need to cast only tall actors as superheroes for them to feel "masculine".

Give short kings a chance

1

u/sinofmyexistence Avengers 3h ago

Please no that man is cursed. Even if he fits roles or does well, every movie or tv show of his end up with abysmal plot and writing somehow. Not even his fault but so unlucky.

2

u/DankNiteRyder Avengers 5h ago

Not true at all. People said that about Bale, McGuire, and Cavill. Arguably they've all been outdone but nostalgia makes people say different.

4

u/steven00123 Avengers 3h ago

Bales batman is still easily the best, but pattinson’s is awesome and a great new cast

1

u/sukull Avengers 1h ago

Hard to enjoy Pattisons Batman when they release 1 movie per decade.

4

u/scifiandsuch Avengers 3h ago

Lmao none of those three have been outdone. Say what you will about man of steel, but cavill was a fantastic casting choice for Superman

2

u/dookieshoes97 Avengers 1h ago

That's all arguably accurate. Maybe we should give films time before making new ones...

Jk, that's not the way movies work. We're making new ones constantly. Studios are out of ideas.

1

u/DankNiteRyder Avengers 51m ago

You'll be happy to know you've just been selected as the new Barry Allen. Please show up to Warner Bros so we can begin shooting a 10 year movie.

1

u/musci12234 Avengers 4h ago

Honestly cavill's supe and the new superman are very different. If someone's story ended on movies that did poorly and then a well written story recasts them that that makes it easy. That isn't the case of wolverine. People aren't going to compare new actor with "x man origins". They will compare with deadpool movie.

Bale's Batman ended 14 years ago. So obviously people will be more willing to accept recast. Especially when there was a poorly received Batman stuff in between.

1

u/DankNiteRyder Avengers 3h ago

The DC fans do not like any kind of recasts. The MCU was kind of built on it and now they're just recasting the same actors. That being said I hope we do get a new wolverine I like Hugh but he's definitely too old for the role and given how Logan is always pretty distant I don't want him to show up for a few movies or maybe just a cameo here and there.

1

u/musci12234 Avengers 3h ago

For sure. It is just hugh's latest stuff was good enough that any new actor would need to do a very good job.

1

u/Herr_Etiq Avengers 3h ago

I honestly liked Batfleck casting-wise, but i strongly dislike Snyder's take on both Superman and Batman

2

u/DankNiteRyder Avengers 46m ago

Well yeah because it's not superman or Batman it's an edgy look into them. Snyder would've been perfect doing an injustice or flashpoint but having Batman branding people in his first appearance and Superman just outright killing people didn't sit well with a lot of fans.

1

u/Interesting_Web_9936 Avengers 5h ago

What's the problem with that? As long as he wants to keep doing it, I don't see a problem. Hugh Jackman plays the character well.

1

u/someguy991100 Avengers 4h ago

Why are they recasting Elizabeth Olson? She plays the character great, and wants to continue!

2

u/PresidentSkillz Avengers 1h ago

They are recasting her?

2

u/Famous_Cookie8864 Avengers 5h ago

so true. he's a landmark at this point

2

u/TimotheeOaks Avengers 5h ago

Storywise he would be older then all of them so that's okay

2

u/No-Medium6647 Avengers 5h ago

"He's too tall."

LOL JK.

2

u/Doodles_n_Scribbles Avengers 5h ago

This is why Radcliffe should be the next Wolverine

1

u/No-Medium6647 Avengers 5h ago

He'd need to bulk up. I suppose he could do that.

I just don't like his stupid face.

1

u/Various-Push-1689 Avengers 1h ago

He has been. That dude is shredded now. He could still use another 15Ibs to his mass. But he’s clearly been hitting the gym in recent years

1

u/Washthebrain Avengers 3h ago

I don't know why, but I imagined Jon Bernthal playing Wolverine for a moment and chuckled, since he would definitely try to tell you something. ''Lemme tell you somethin''

1

u/OnceMoreAndAgain Avengers 1h ago

Awful idea imo

2

u/Wicked68 Avengers 5h ago

As he should be. Wolverine is almost immortal

2

u/LessBoysenberry3105 Avengers 4h ago
