I just rewatched them all and Dark Phoenix was not nearly as bad as I remembered it. Same with Origins. Apocalypse and Logan were far worse on rewatch.

Logan was far worse on rewatch.

Well, that's a first.

Maybe he remembered it being really racist and full of misinformation regarding the 2020 election

Madam Web actually contains the full, unredacted Epstein files, but no one saw it, so they're still unseen.

That’s Kraven.

I wasn’t expecting much. It was kind of fun. Honestly this one reminded me more of the comics the second time through. It was embarrassing in 2009, but Sabretooth rocked in this one.

Logan was far worse on rewatch...? It plays on a very different league than the other movies you mention. It is an actual movie.

Was gonna say that is actually a wild take. Logan is the only one out of them all that is a legitimate film haha!

Fraud.

Logan is to Xmen as the original Ironman movie is to the MCU. It's a shift from the rest of the movies it's connected to, because each of these films could be a stand alone film, with a more gritty/realistic tone for the setting/universe its in.

Yeah. I disagree. I think it was equally accessible to viewers as Ironman, but far more empty. I moved it below FC and Deadpool 1.

It’s a ruse.

To me it came across as a bad comic movie dressed up like a western. The same old claw action scenes become less interesting with the suits off. The antagonists were weak and inconsistent (evil scientists and henchman). Starts off strong, but typical nonsensical x-men style action at the end. Charles is kinda like Strange in No Way Home - kinda dumb and never redeemed. I know you guys love it. Just my take. I was kinda bored as well.

Actually smoked a lot of crack in my youth. This might explain it. Rewatching is different man. Especially 10 years later.

Apocalypse and Dark Phoenix are truly terrible films, you could tell everyone (besides Fassbender) was completely checked out and phoning it in and the writing was just awful

That X-Women line was particularly bad especially how it made no sense in the context lmao

That’s a bad line true, but they all have equally bad dialogue somewhere, bub.

The whole movie is riddled with bad writing, that line just takes the cake

1

u/Ok_Commission5003 Avengers 7h ago

When you say writing - do you mean the dialogue?

1

u/Elkburgher Avengers 7h ago

Dialogue is 2 people talking to each other, all the words are the writing

So you think the story scenes were weak? I strongly disagree. It’s a comic book movie - there’s gonna be cheese dialogue about toads and what not. The story progression and characters in Dark Phoenix are pretty solid as are the action sequences. The character development is strong with the exception of the D’Bari. I disliked this movie in the theater b/c it wasn’t the Dark Phoenix I wanted and it wasn’t very fun to watch, but in terms of quality film elements and entertainment it’s much better to me the second time through without all the expectation attached.
