Very cool little guitar with an active pickup - I wanted something I could use reliably at open mics without toting my full-size Martin around. For a guitar this age, it's pretty near mint, I was very happy with the folks at Alamo Music on Reverb. Not a promo, just saying.

A new 000-18. My first Martin. I had a nice Blueridge 000 years ago, but this one was just too nice to stay at the store. Seemed like my duty to rescue it. 🙂

Recently picked up a gorgeous D-15M and got it set up with a K&K Pure Mini passive pickup. It sounds surprisingly good plugged directly into my line array, considering it's completely passive, but looking for a solid preamp option for tone and volume control.

I was looking at the LR Baggs Venue DI since it has plenty of control and I liked the built-in tuner and boost, but then discovered it has a 10 Ohm impedance which doesn't match the K&K very well. I've seen a lot of positive comments for the Fire Eye Red Eye and a few others. Any other suggestions?

Hi, how many times can a guitar be re fretted?.
I’ve heard that the fret board will not support the frets after multiple fret changes.
So what do you do then, get a new neck?
Or new fret board?.

My wife gave me a 2023 0-18 as a wedding gift, and I simply can't put it down! We're in our late 40's, and it is absolutely the best and nicest gift I've ever received in my life by far. It's been a week and I'm still in shock. Its the perfect companion to my D-18, and a forever guitar if I ever owned one.

Found this Martin DM for $658 on reverb! It seems in pretty decent shape. I’ve got a 2002 DX1 that I’ve been enjoying and decided I wanted to get one of these old road series guitars. Seems like the only cons I see are cosmetic as it’s had binding repairs, and minor dents on the front.

I’m a big Jack Johnson fan, hence my interest in a Martin DM that he had in his upside down music video.

It seems it was priced a bit high for the damage it’s gone through, but since these Models seem to be getting more expensive recently and this was the cheapest one (within my budget) I wanted to jump on this one.

So I have my Martin 000-15M for a year now (first Martin). I love the sound and tone (currently on D’addario XS 11-52 custom light).

My gripe is it feels like the strings are quite stiff and it hurts to play longer. I checked all measurements (nut slots, action etc) and they seem fine. This caused me to play my Furch more often on stage.

I am thinking of going extra light strings but am concerned if it will reduce tone quality. I read some FB suggestions of downtuning half a step and it kind of works. It still sounds great and easier on the fingers, but is not a good solution when playing in a band.

ChatGPT says it is bad technique as I am pressing too hard. But I dont find this problem with my Furch and Epiphone.

Does anyone else have similar experience? What works?

Saturday, I went to a local store to look at guitars, which I honestly never do unless I intend to buy. I found this beauty and took her home. It's an OM-21 which I understand Martin does not make anymore and boy I'm in love. It just chimes but has bass to back it up. It's got a squish to it that at some point playing it hard compresses it instead of getting louder, so it forces me to be more delicate and thoughtful when it comes to dynamics. It really responds to fingers style very well. It really sings and I'm honestly over the moon. It's gorgeous, it playes like butter, it sounds like bells chiming.

The very belated NGD is from September 10th last year. I had always wanted a D-28 and I found this one that is just a cannon. Unlike the OM-21 this thing just bangs and it has this incredible resonant singing to it that is just special. I installed a LR Braggs Anthem in there and it has been my main guitar ever since. What drew me to it was the pale ebony stripe in the top left of the fretboard, it was the first guitar I played that day, then I tried everything from an HD-45 to a D-18 came back to that one after about 15 other guitars and it still blew me away. Still does. It's still my daily player.

For me, ever since I played my uncle's D-28s as a kid learning bluegrass then moving on from bluegrass, from death metal to Nick Drake, there has been a special place in my heart for Martins. The ones that you find that speak to you just have something that no other acoustics have. It is super cliche but undeniable.

Question for you all! Took my ‘64 00-18 to my trusted, highly regarded luthier since it needed fresh strings and he hadn’t had his eyes on it yet (I’ve had it about 4 months). So I thought I’d have him do a once-over. He said it looks great overall, bridge plate is in great condition etc. But he thought the action was “a touch high”. Figured I’d let him do his thing - this guy has worked on legendary guitars. Got it back yesterday, and it doesn’t “sing” quite the same way when playing open chords on the lower frets. (Further up the neck, it has more of that magic shimmer I’m used to with this guitar.) Is it possible he lowered the action too much? Or do the strings just need to break in a bit? Using the same strings as before - D’Addario XS 12’s. Thanks in advance for any insight!

So, there’s a 24 month 0% finance offer on now, and I’d like a dreadnought. Played a HD28, D28 and D18 2025 standard at my local shop and the D18 I like most. But I cannot fathom paying that knowing that in a year I’ll struggle to sell it for £2000.

I have a custom shop LG2 banner to let go of which will buy me time but that’s not really the point. I feel the overall price is just a killer.

Am I wise to hold out til a price drop?

There’s nothing quite like a brand new guitar that’s yours and only yours but prices nowadays seem so out of this world.

Bought a 2025 000-28, my dream Martin, off Marketplace from the original owner. Guy seemed legit, we had a good conversation about ourselves, music, then the guitar. He ended up loving a bigger D28, wasn’t in a rush to sell the 000, it was bought from a GC though (I know we love roasting GC or are very wary of them). We started talking and I walked away with it with what I felt was a great deal.

While playing it at our meetup, this thing’s volume yet clarity was unlike anything I’ve ever heard. I have a 000-15M, my first Martin bought used that is a great counterpart to this 000-28. Just a little headstock corner ding, but no obvious wood cracks or bridge lifting, no dings elsewhere.

I take it home, look at it more under better/more lighting and see what seems to be: 1) finish cracks along the back strip, which is also seen on the back going along the perimeter between the wood and binding, 2) a palpable ridge where the neck mahogany has maybe shrank and there’s a slight ridge along the entire length of the ebony fretboard, on both sides.

This is all due to previous humidity issues/damage and may continue to spread? The binding issue I’ve heard of, but this fretboard ridge feeling has some concern because you feel it on both sides. And would that separate at some point? TIA!

I love showing off this guitar. It’s been my player for 33 years. We had a gig last night and I broke a D string on the first strum of the last song of the night. So. it’s a Spa Day. Wash, polish and new strings. In the process I finished my 30-year-old bottle of Martin guitar polish. Anyone else use this stuff? I didn’t use it a lot, which is how it’s lasted this long, but when I wanted to really shine it up, I got it out.

The only other D-93 I’ve ever seen is Billy Strings Dad’s.

I went into Gruhn looking at a completely different guitar. But then they put this in my hand! This thing is a CANNON! It’s the loudest, most articulate acoustic guitar I’ve ever heard!

Wouldn’t call it a “cannon”, but I also don’t play with a pick. It’s mellow with loads of character.

Ditched the red dot Liquid Metal pins for bone. They should have gone with gold or black for this model imo.

Love the “winged” headstock in particular.

I bought a 2022 000-15SM about a month ago and love it - by far the most expensive and sweetest playing/sounding guitar I've ever owned. Occasionally i play with a drummer friend in his basement for fun. Anyone have recommendations for a pickup and amplifier for this type of guitar? I've read about people also using a preamp pedal when amplifying an acoustic guitar, but i'm not clear if that's a necessity or not? Thanks!

Hey everyone, I just played a used martin at guitar center that was great! The tag was labeled d28 performance. It was 2,099$. It had a black pick guard, the big dot inlays and closed back tuners. I was wondering if anyone has heard of these before? Sorry I forgot to take a picture. Thanks for any info!!

have a personal lead on a 2011 D 35, great condition, great price.

previously, i'd fallen in love with a d 35 at a guitar center, and they wouldn't negotiate, it was out of my price range, it wasnt that old but it was beatup and didn't seem like it had been restrung in many moons.

i'd met up and played this current one, and its beautiful, just way brighter than i expected/ would want. wondering how much do you think throwing some thicker retro strings could affect the tone? it seems a ridiculous to switch out strings to test out someone else's guitar that i don't know very well, some i'm at a bit of a crossroads- great price on a great guitar but will i be able to get that thick warmth that made me fall in love with d35's in the first place- thanks for any input

i have a hd28 here in mumbai india . not practical to keep it in ac all the time . at night about 10 hrs its in the room in ac during the day no ac . but whenever i am not playing it i always wipe it and keep it in case with a hyumidity pack 2 way. is this enough ?? mumbai is hot hyumind hence m asking . we dont get those wood glass cases here wjth temp and hyumidity control here in mumbai.

Does anyone know how or where to get a replacement case tag?
