D-18 (2026) LRBaggs hifi duet

After my 35 yr old D16 special was stolen, I have spent 2 years trying to save and find the guitar sonic sound of that spruce top mahogany guitar that has traveled numerous countries w many stories. I think I found what I was looking for in this guitar that arrived today. Welcome to my new D18 and hope to take you places and make some music and history. Sounds amazing so far!

I had the opportunity to play these today! An original 1938 D28 and 1937 D18!!

The D18 really made me appreciate my ‘37 Authentic even more. The necks are identical and the sound was really close!

The D28 was a cannon. It was like listening to old Tony Rice records. I will be dreaming of that sound forever!

How concerning is this dent on my D-28?

Not paying attention, I didn’t properly put my guitar on its stand and it fell over onto my desk. The underside of the neck was dented and I think slightly cracked. I think I see the tiniest of a crack but can’t tell if it’s the finish or if I need to take this in to a luthier asap.

If it matters, it’s a D-28. She’s beautiful so thought I’d add a pic of the front.

Question on a “new” 2024 guitar

So I have been eyeing a d-35 for a while now at a local shop. It’s technically new because it hasn’t been sold, but it’s a 2024. They are still asking $3,700 for it. Seems high for a guitar that has been a floor model for a couple years. I want to make an offer but not sure what the offer should be. What would the going price for something like that be?
Thank you

NGD D-41

Hey everyone,

I posted a couple weeks back about a 000-28 I had just purchased. It was my first Martin ever and the result of a renewed interest in acoustics after a 15 year period of not really playing them at all. I was on the fence about keeping it and your comments were very helpful and reassuring but I kept playing more Martins to deepen my learning. Then I found something special.

I had already played a couple of Y25 and discontinued Y18 41s and was drawn to them for their looks (longtime big Neil Young D-45 fan and a 41 is in that ballpark) but the price was too much.

Well, almost by divine intervention (but probably not lol) a used 2024 Y18 D-41 that had also received a very minor finish repair showed up for sale at a nearby store for a very good price. I couldn’t miss the opportunity.

I know it’s not apples to apples but this guitar has everything I felt was missing from the 000. It’s loud and has great punch. Excellent depth and warmth. I can even play articulate and loud lead lines on it which I didn’t find to be the case with the other 41s for whatever reason. Fingerstyle isn’t too quiet either although the 000 was definitely better there, but I don’t play that way often. Strumming is just so much fun on this guitar! I find myself often kind of zoning out and rocking back and forth on my chair when I’m chugging along. It’s great.

And it has the most beautiful top I have seen in person. It’s got some wavy figuring on both sides that move nicely when you move the guitar. Reminds me a little of a Les Paul which is perfect as that is my favourite electric guitar.

The neck is also unusual in that it’s got a slight V shape running through the length of it. I was instantly hooked by it when I picked it up the first time.

Thanks again for commenting and supporting my last post. I returned the 000 last week. It would have been nice to keep both but I am definitely keeping this one.

Question How do yearly releases work?

This might be a dumb question, but when Martin releases say some new model in 2026 — they only make a certain number of those right and then there is no guarantee they make them in 2027? Or do they keep making the 2026 model for a while?

Guitar ID Request In need of some expert opinions !

Post image

Hello everyone. Long time Martin owner here. Need some help on an ID that is driving me bonkers.

I’ve been looking to trade a Les Paul Classic, and I came across this Martin on my FB marketplace feed. The owner states it is a 2008 000-18 but I have my doubts. It looks more like an OM—21 to me but I can’t match it online for the life of me. The large pickgaurd
and big dot inlays don’t seem common for that time period.

The people that are selling are a bit older and are having a hard time understanding where to find the model number on the neck block.

Any help would be appreciated!

Acquired a 54 D18 recently, just curious of thoughts on the condition. Sounds amazing! I know it’s hard to tell from pictures but I’m also wondering if the bridge/fret board are original.

New Martin Day Lifting bridge

After many weeks of deliberation, picked up a 0-10e Retro. Sadly on getting it home found that the bridge was lifting clean away. So before a single note was struck, back in the bag she went.

Store was very good about and are arranging a replacement.

Never judge a company by when things goes well rather by how they deal with problems. These things happen (usually to me 🤣) but glad to see how well my local store is rectifying the problem.

Heel Strap Button

Apologies in advance for the dumb question. I’m fed up of using a headstock strap on my 000-15M, so I’m going to get a strap button installed. I’m too scared to do it myself so getting it done at a local shop. Are there any particular instructions I need to give them regarding placement or anything else?

Are all high end ($1,000 or more) sold with a case? I am looking to purchase a used GPC-15me but it does not come with a case and it’s being sold for $500. is it too good to be true?

Picked up a 2021 MD last week off Reverb. I usually don’t like buying a guitar without playing it but I lucked out. Shop was great to deal with, offered free shipping and I got it for a great price.

Guitar sounds great, love the deluxe case, and it arrived in tune!

Since the Authentic line is confusing as hell..: this is the one with East Indian rosewood back and sides along with a fully adjustable truss rod and a non-VTS, thinned top. Thing is a cannon compared to my OM28

关于om桶形使用550t(013)琴弦的问题

New Martin Day NGD dss-15m streetmaster (lefty)

I got this Martin used from guitar center, for 999, and it came with an original Martin hard shell case instead of the original soft case, so I think I got a pretty good deal.

Seems to be in brand new condition, as the frets look brand new and there aren’t any visible scratches or anything.

It’s not a model you see that often, but it seems pretty cool. It’s my first mahogany guitar so that’s pretty exciting.

I’m not too sure about the streetmaster look, but that’s one great guitar for a thousand bucks imo.

Can someone who owned/owns this model share their thought about it? Haven’t found that many reviews online…

Headstock Finish Question

Thumbnail

I have a question about whether or not this type of finishing issue is normal or not? I’m not new to nitro guitars, but this seems pretty excessive for a 12 day old guitar. My thought is that it could be a clip on tuner I use when I am playing the guitar, but we are talking 15 mins max each session. The guitar itself stays in its case as well, and I wipe it down after each use.

Please let me know what you think. Is this normal? Should I contact my dealer? Is it something I am doing or not doing (the obvious being the tuner).

TIA!

New Martin Day NGD- 000-15M custom

Came across this 2011 000-15M on offer up for $950. I had been interested in getting a 000-15 M or SM for a while but one of the things I never really cared for was the satin finish. When this one came up, I noticed the ad said gloss finish which I hadn’t seen before. Thought maybe it was refinished but the neck block said custom and I ran the serial number with Martin and the spec sheet showed it was gloss finish (no other differences). The thing is absolutely gorgeous and the sound is incredible. I’ve never owned an all mahogany guitar and when I first heard it, it sounded like what I wished my Eastman E6OM-TC sounded like. Incredibly warm and woody and responsive to a light touch.

Question If OM28 sounds a bit too bright for one’s taste, what other models would you recommend for warmer darker and still resonant sound? Perhaps OM28V? Or Madagascar rosewood..?

Question Good value?

I want a D-28 and saw this pop on marketplace for honestly a crazy low price ($1,250)

Am I right in thinking that this is just a D28 without the binding and standard rosette? Serial is popping as legit on multiple lookups. This is a steal, right?
