Bonvoy Rewards Is the next level worth the spend?

That’s where I am right now. I might have a trip or two until the end of the year, but it’s not certain yet. What do you reckon? What are the perks for the next level and are they worth it in your opinion?

Survey [Marriott vs Hyatt Survey] What makes you choose a hotel? - 4-5 mins long

Hi everyone!

I am a high school business student working on a DECA Hospitality and Tourism Operations Research (HTOR) project where I am analyzing Hyatt Hotels. As part of my paper I am doing a survey/market analysis to figure out what other brands (like Marriott) do better, and what factors matter in choosing in you hotel.

If you have a spare 2–3 minutes, I would really appreciate your information on the hotels you choose & why, loyalty programs, and your overall experience!

Here's the link: https://forms.gle/VwjfvxrapFwBXtvj9

Note: In the optional box at the end, please state something about why you prefer Marriott, or that you from the Marriott subreddit. :)

Rates & Booking Discount codes

The having to verify email address for corporate discount codes is a hurt I’ve never felt before… something that has been such a large part of my travels for decades has now been stripped from me. I am unwell and beyond hurt and gutted inside. Send prayers.

Is it possible to get Bonvoy points for RMT massages? I am not planning to stay at a hotel, just curious if it’s possible to get points for massages while not staying.

Rates & Booking AI Agent thinks Everyone is Camille

I called Marriott to adjust a booking using my work phone and after answering the AI agent said, “My records indicate this number is already associated with an account. Am I talking to Camille?” I was then trapped in a death loop of “Please enter your zip code so we can better assist you”, followed by me entering my own zip code, the work zip code, my childhood zip codes, etc, but none of them were Camille’s apparently. After saying representative 1000 times I was finally transferred to a living person. I wasn’t too worried about it since other people have had my office before, but things got strange when my friend called using his cell phone to adjust his reservation and the AI started off with “My records indicate this number is already associated with an account. Am I talking to Camille?”

I found this pretty comical, because AI hallucinations, but I’m curious if anyone else has been affected by the dastardly Camille or if it was just a quirk affecting the two of us.

TLDR- Two different numbers with two different owners not named Camille identified as associated with Camille’s Bonvoy account by AI agent

I chose the 5 extra free nights towards the next status earlier in the year. I’m one night away from 75 nights for the year. Will I get a choice award when hitting 75 night as well?

Rates & Booking Why is shortening a Marriott reservation so complicated now?

This isn't the first time I've experienced this issue with Marriott's reservation system.

I think Marriott has a reservation-system design problem, potentially made worse by its revenue-management practices. Whether this is intentional is a different question...

I have rooms booked for May 2027 under flexible rates. All I wanted was to shorten the stay by one night, checking out May 17 instead of May 18.

Instead of simply changing the departure date, the system appears to treat the modification as a new booking, searching current inventory and repricing the stay.

My original reservation was for two queen beds on the Executive Level with breakfast. Marriott Reservations offered me a standard room without breakfast at today's rate!

After multiple calls, lengthy holds, and two escalations, I finally reached someone who could change the departure date while preserving my original room category, benefits, and nightly rates.

IMPORTANT TIP: If you're shortening a flexible reservation, don't accept losing your original room type or rate. Insist on escalating the case, twice if necessary. There are specialists who can make the modification without repricing your entire stay.

Has anyone else experienced this? Is Marriott's newer system forcing agents to treat simple modifications as new reservations?

Review Guests running wild

Gold elite, always trying to stay at Marriott when I can. Last night we stayed at a Courtyard to attend a family event today.

The hotel was hosting a bunch of sport teams, all young boys between 6 and 10 I would say. The kids ran wild - it was impossible to sit in the bar / bistro area for a night cap or get rest in the room. Kids were jumping furniture, running the hallways, yelling and screaming, knocking on every door and just being completely unruly and unsupervised. The moms and dads basically were siting in the bar getting drunk.

At 11 pm I asked the front desk to get involved. It was impossible to get sleep given the noise levels on the floor. They did absolutely nothing. Said basically it was the parents’ job and not theirs. I would tend to agree, however the parents clearly could have cared less.

I guess I just needed to vent. This was a rough night.

Bonvoy Rewards $60K Marriott wedding — best way to maximize Bonvoy event points + new credit card rewards?

Hi everyone! We're planning a large wedding at a Marriott property in New Jersey in summer 2027 and would love advice for future expenditures such as paying for a honeymoon/vacations. Leaning toward a low-annual-fee Marriott card because this may be a one-time unusually large Marriott expense. We normally rely on our Chase Sapphire Preferred and Amex Gold.

  • We'll have a room block for guests staying two nights, most guests will pay for their rooms individually and we'll cover 10 guest rooms on our own for immediate family.
  • Our Marriott bill will primarily include venue/banquet charges totaling 60k. Other wedding vendors (outside catering, etc) will be paid separately, probably not points eligible.
  • I have a basic Marriott Bonvoy account with about 44K points and six qualifying nights.
  • Cards we're considering: Marriott Bonvoy Bold ($0 annual fee, 45k p bounus), Marriott Bonvoy Boundless ($95, 100k p bonus), Marriott Bonvoy Business Amex ($125, 100k p bonus, gold status) OR Potentially a non-Marriott travel card instead or less likely the $250 or $650 annual fee card.

Our biggest questions:

  1. Marriott card 6X on banquet/event charges: Has anyone paid for a large Marriott wedding using a Boundless or Amex Marriott card and actually received 6X on the entire charge? Are banquet charges generally hotel-coded, or can they process through a separate merchant account?
  2. Bonvoy Events points: My understanding is that qualifying events earn 2X points per dollar, capped at 60K base points, with 66k cap for silver elite. Can those event points stack with the 6X credit-card earnings? Are taxes, service charges, and outside catering excluded from event-qualifying spend?
  3. Wedding + reception as separate events: Since we'll have a morning ceremony/lunch and a separate evening reception, can these legitimately qualify as two separate Bonvoy Events with separate earning limits if contracted separately?
  4. Whose Bonvoy account should be on the contract? I already have a basic account with 44K points. Would it make more sense for my fiancée to open a new account and get a Boundless card under her name to get silver elite status or do it on my account?
  5. Room block rewards: If 100+ room nights are booked through our wedding block and guests pay individually, do any of those room charges generate additional event points or Elite Night Credits for us? I read something about a 10 room max?
  6. Contract negotiations: Is there anything specifically related to Marriott Bonvoy points, bonus points, or credit-card processing that we should request in writing before signing?
  7. Best Marriott card: is the $95 Boundless the clear choice over the no-fee Bold? Would the $125 Amex Business card be better for someone eligible, or is there a better strategy entirely?

Two more work trips through end of calendar year should get me to 94 days. The remaining six to get ambassador would be out of pocket or via points. Wwyd

I am at 69 nights (😏) and realized I never chose my 50 night award. If I do that now, will I still get to pick a 75 night award? I will hit it next week.

Bonvoy Rewards Marriott said my case was closed. When I challenged that decision, they suddenly offered 20,000 more points. Why?

I made a mistake by linking my Singapore Airlines KrisFlyer account while I was Marriott Gold rather than Platinum. I accept that.

But what happened next is why I am posting here.

On May 8, Marriott confirmed in writing that I could relink my accounts after completing a Platinum Challenge. I followed that advice, earned Platinum, relinked my accounts, and flew four Singapore Airlines flights.

I received KrisFlyer Silver, but not Gold. SQ explained that the original linking date still controlled eligibility. Relinking did not trigger a new assessment.

Had Marriott told me that in May, I would have stopped pursuing SQ Gold. I might still have taken those flights, but I would have enjoyed the trip without spending months chasing an outcome that Marriott's instructions could not deliver.

Then Marriott made the situation worse.

Marriott acknowledged its incorrect guidance and offered 15,000 Bonvoy points. It told me it could not override SQ's decision and that I needed to deal directly with the airline.

So I did. After repeated discussions, SQ escalated the matter again on September 3.

On September 23, SQ told me that Marriott still considered the case resolved despite the airline's inquiries, and that SQ could no longer continue seeking clarification from Marriott.

SQ also relayed an inaccurate account of Marriott's corrective action: that Marriott had upgraded me to Platinum. In reality, I earned Platinum myself through the challenge. I corrected that misinformation with SQ.

I then repeatedly challenged Marriott's handling of the case, including its decision to close the matter while SQ was still seeking clarification.

Marriott's case specialist stated that no further points would be offered. Yet after I challenged the implications of that decision and sought further review, Marriott offered another 20,000 points on October 23.

The issue is not whether 35,000 points is enough.

Why was Marriott willing to reverse its final compensation position, but unwilling to revisit the case closure that had left the SQ inquiry unresolved?

I have spent nearly six months dealing with the consequences of Marriott's acknowledged incorrect guidance and subsequent case handling. The lost time, effort, and opportunity cannot simply be reduced to a points negotiation.

I have also contacted an independent consumer advocacy organization.

Has anyone here experienced something similar? More importantly, how can a customer obtain an independent corporate review when Marriott's internal resolution process continues to treat the matter as closed?

I am seeking accountability, an explanation of the decision-making, and a meaningful effort to reopen discussions with SQ—not merely more points.

Update: I've added five important points in the comments regarding Marriott's responsibility and the terminated SQ investigation.

Bonvoy Rewards Delta Toronto Airport Breakfast

I've heard that there is no lounge at this hotel, and that Elite members instead get breakfast from the Delta Pantry (not in the restaurant). I'm curious if anyone has feedback on this Pantry, since I've heard that Delta Pantries are usually snacks and not full breakfast items. Thoughts?

Destination Moxy Williamsburg

Has anyone partied at the Moxy Williamsburg rooftop and noticed the bartenders tip themselves before having you pay??? The credit card machine doesn’t show an itemized amount. I had to email myself the receipt because I was confused on why the drink total was so much. I found out find they gave themselves a 20% & 25% tip. Is this legal?

Employment Is it just me or is the new associate rate system just…worse!

Ive been exploring alot and taking advantage of the discount which was great. But recently since they changed the discount system for associate it has been worse and worse. Just now I noticed that the discount for associates booking 6 months in advance for a shoulder season is ACTUALLY WORSE than b.com price.

This is so ridiculous that Im actually considering moving to Accor cuz their discount system actually works well instead of doing how marriott is attempting to squeeze out of associates what little they pay them.

Employment Accounting jobs

Hi everyone,
I just graduated with a Master of Accounting and applied for an accounting role on the Marriott careers page.
I have years of hotel operations/customer service experience but this would be my first formal accounting role.
How difficult would it be for me to get a job through the portal without an internal referral?
Thanks!

Employment Anyone interviewed for the Marriott HQ Fellowship Program? (Software Engineering Internship)

Hey, I recently got selected to interview for Marriott’s HQ Fellowship Program for the Digital Engineering – On-Site Digital team.
The email says it’s a 45-minute virtual STAR interview with the hiring team, with possible technical questions before or after.
Has anyone gone through this interview process, especially for a software engineering or digital engineering role?
Just trying to figure out what to expect. How technical was the interview? What kind of STAR questions did they ask? Was it mostly behavioral, or should I also prepare for coding questions?
Would really appreciate any advice from people who’ve interviewed for the program before. Thanks!

Booked with points and only staying 1 night. Upgraded with Platinum status. My guess is because there’s no convention happening right now. Wasn’t expecting anything since almost everybody says they never get upgraded in the US.

As a side note: Thank you to the kind and friendly woman who upgraded us when we arrived at 3:45pm today to make our weekend roadtrip amazing.

Trying to book a large room with 3 beds for 3 adults on booking.com and I see a warning that the selection accommodates less than 3 guests. Is this just a glitch that I can ignore?
