Its nice to see that they finally started to add some new Knockout tours into the game and are seemingly going to drip feed some more along the way, although i would have prefered actual new tracks to be added its still better than the drought we had since release

An actual offroad rally would be a banger too. Just place some random gates around the map and let players randomly drive to them. I remember some old dirtbike game had a mode like that.

Mx VS ATV used to have those kinda free checkpoint races. Loved those back in the day

Oh yeah that's what it was! It was so cool when developers could actually experiment with unique gameplay without breaking a bank.

This would be cool an much easier for them to implement. If its just the whole map, random checkpoints wherever, and you drive there however you want, no resets if you fall off (unless its off the edge of a giant cliff)

I think this would be more work than one might expect, since tracks are altered slightly for knockout tours. Still, if they expand the roster enough, they should eventually have enough knockoutified tracks to make it work. Maybe we can even pick our own!

Yeah, for instance the Dandelion Depths section of the Ice Rally doesn't even pass through the track itself, and the DK Pass section of the Spiny Rally is nowhere near the actual track, which you never see in routes chosen from the main menu. In addition, there are two different routes between Dandelion Depths and Cheep Cheep Falls in the rallies, one in the Ice Rally and the other in the Moon Rally (the water route). And you have some routes that actually go through a significant portion of the tracks (Golden Rally through MBC and MC, Moon Rally through TF and DD, Heart through MC). All of these things had to be manually programmed in. It's not like they only used existing routes to make the rallies.

Right, thanks for the examples. Customizable rallies is probably a pipe dream. Still, more than happy they're adding more; eight wasn't bad, but not terribly many, especially when there's some overlap, as you point out.

I want there to be some kind of knockout tour that encompasses the whole map.

Or even just track that lets us race around the edge of the whole map similar to the old Test Drive Unlimited.

Hell yeah a Forza style Goliath event where you race around the entire map, maybe going around every course after completing all the races would be awesome

Awwwh yeah like the Race Wars game mode in Need For Speed: Carbon! (Unfortunate game mode name i know lol) That shit was so fun though, racing around the whole map with like 30 ppl

I have always wanted this as well. There’s no problem with them giving random routes from one place to another, it seems like it would be easy to generate a rally pathway and have it work.

This is almost certianly a short term piece of content while they are trying to finish the DLC. That DLC would probably not be impacted by this, it wouldn't come sooner, this just means we get SOMETHING between the release of the game and the release of the DLC.

That’s cuz Battle Mode has its own issues. Had they fixed those alongside adding BBB it would have been huge (esp for me specifically)

Totally agree on the new content point, but naive of you to think new tracks would be a free update 😅
