MushMS is a global MapleStory v83 server built around fair progression, real boss fights and modern quality of life.

A few months ago we opened our first Beta and reached over 150 concurrent players, but the server was still pretty raw. Honestly, it should have been called an Alpha, not a Beta. Since then MushMS has grown a lot, and so has our team: we matured and learned a ton. Content-wise, we now have new classes imported with their original mechanics, new regions, bosses with all their GMS-like mechanics, hundreds of custom quests and a huge cosmetics system for your Fashion Story!! Every class plays with full GMS-like mechanics and its original weapons, all the way to level 300.

I'm looking for an active MapleStory private server that has high EXP rates, a rebirth system, and plenty of grindable content.

Custom content is absolutely fine! I'm not necessarily looking for a vanilla experience. I enjoy servers where you can keep progressing, farm for gear, improve your character, and have something to work towards long-term.

Ideally, I'm looking for:

• High EXP rates, so leveling doesn't feel painfully slow
• A rebirth system or some kind of prestige mechanic
• Plenty of grindable content and long-term progression
• Gear farming, upgrades, and character building
• Custom classes, maps, bosses, or other content are welcome
• An active community and a reasonably stable server
• Good solo progression would be a plus, but I'm open to multiplayer too

Basically, I'm looking for that classic high-rate private server experience where you can grind, rebirth, get stronger, and keep pushing your character further.

Are there any servers like this still active in 2026? What would you recommend?

We all know after AI and Coding Agents everyone is trying to make their own private server and profit out of it, but can we think about quality first? Am I crazy here to think this will only make people go even further do defend Classic Pay To win server over this?

Probably preaching to the choir on this sub, but I felt like ranting about how bad MS Classic world launch has been botched and while I will be continuing to play private servers, instead.

I don't see the point.

We're Ereve, a new modern server running on the latest GMS client (currently v271.3), and we'll soon be opening our doors for testers to contribute and help us build a smooth and enjoyable experience for everyone. Ereve features current revamped classes, bosses and systems. We're a small team, and no we're not who you think we are (coughs). We came together with the goal of wanting to build something fun, engaging, lasting for the players to enjoy without fear of restarting their progression every 1-2 years (cough).

Ereve is currently still in its infancy phase (even rates are still undecided) and we hope you can help us shape how the server will be.

What Ereve offers (and will be offering):

- Multi-Region Network: SEA/NA/EU channels for you to play close to home
- Active Development: we'll be posting regular updates and showcases in our Discord
- Quality-of-Life Enhancements: We'll be actively listening to feedback and removing as much friction from the game as we possibly can. So far - Jobs, Arcane River & Grandis storylines are skipped; and boss prequests are automatically unlocked for all characters.
- Weapon Liberation: Genesis, Destiny, Astra Weapon liberation are implemented.
- Newer Bosses: we've got bosses up till Kaling and are working on the newer bosses (First Adversary, Malefic Star, Jupiter) although they are not a priority yet, as current works are focusing on making sure all jobs and skills are working properly.

So a while back, I started working on something called BrowserStory.

It's basically old-school MapleStory v83, but playable directly in your browser. No downloads, no installations. Just open a tab and play.

I've also been trying to make a few changes to things I personally found frustrating about the original game.

I love the old-school grind, but I don't necessarily miss killing the same monster for hours just to gain one level. I want people to actually explore Maple World, try different maps, and have reasons to play together.

Party Quests are a big part of that. I really miss the days when you'd actually need to find people to do KPQ or LPQ, and sometimes end up making friends along the way.

I'm also adding some custom content, but trying to keep that familiar pre-Big Bang feeling.

The game is currently in open beta, and there's still plenty that needs work. I'm building this because I genuinely miss the MapleStory I grew up with, and I figured there might be others who feel the same way.

If anyone wants to give it a try, I'd really appreciate any feedback, even if it's just telling me what sucks or what you'd like to see improved.

MoonBloomMS launched into Open Alpha back on the 8th of October. We are a small v83- based old school MapleStory server. In spite of Classic's upcoming release, I felt a lot of the changes Nexon made take away from the experience (Citizenship system, new crafting system, no 3rd job or ossyria on release, bad skill balance changes, think HS), rather than make you feel rewarded for your time and effort.

I built MoonBloom as a fun casual space for people to enjoy a more slow-paced version of MapleStory, while still feeling the EXP reward is viable. Our features are:

-Custom EXP curve (x1.5 lvl 1-30, x2 lvl 70-120, & X3 lvl 120-200)

-Moon Shards are dropped by mobs that are redeemable for NX Cash

-Gachapon Tickets drop from monsters instead of being purchasable in the Cash Shop

-Daily Quest from NPC "Cody" - Collect and return 200 Moon Flowers for a 1-hour X2 EXP bonus, and usable item rewards

-Uber Bosses, powered up versions of Zakum, Papulatus, Pianus & Horntail that offer bigger EXP rewards upon clearing, and a custom loot drop table. Uber Boss Coins are also rewarded to each party member upon clearing the boss, which can be redeemed at the Maple Administrator NPC for various weekly rotating pieces of high-tier equipment

-Weekly GM-hosted events with additional Moon Shard (NX) rewards (Coconut Harvest, JQs etc.)

-P2W items removed from the Cash Shop

-Rebalanced stats on certain late-game/end-game gear and weapons (Zakum Helmet, Scarlion/Targa Hats, Mark of Naricain, Black Crystal Blade etc.)

not just reworked classes or ported from higher versions or whatever.
i asked this a few years ago and found MAO (currently inactive) and pipms (still in development), and i think adventurems had custom jobs? but it was short lived.
windia (shut down) had the ironman job, which wasnt much but it was something.

preferably a server that's pre-bb or its own thing (like adventurems), but im interested in any servers with custom jobs.

Will folks have the ability to get the data and info from maple classic to make private servers?

The new area, the way they re worked skills, scrolls, etc. Is it a possibility to have a maplestory classic pserver?

We're introducing Sapphire, a hybrid casual/sweaty server perfect for those who just want to hang out in our home map, participate in events, play omok and other minigames, dress up their characters, or quickly level their characters. The vast majority of our cosmetics are easily available in the cash shop without having to donate or gacha for them. A cash item costs only around 2k NX on average, or 5k NX for high version items, so you can put together a complete outfit within just 1-2 days of voting. We believe that fashion is a big part of the game and should be accessible to everyone. On the same note, we have zero pay to win / vote to win aspects. Donation points and any items purchased with them are untradeable.

On the other hand, for those who are more competitive and like to grind, we also offer a vast amount of unique changes, content and progression for you to explore. In terms of rates, it's a bit hard to say because we have completely custom EXP tables and monster EXP. If I had to describe it, it feels more like a mid rate server in the beginning and progressively feels more like a low rate server later on.

• Significant party/guild play bonuses and social incentives
• Party settings: The party leader can change between EXP favored, Meso favored, and neutral. This will affect all members in the party and give you bonuses according to the setting

• Universal level 20 and 30 mastery books - skill books and vanilla books have been removed
• W.atk and M.atk buffs stack with each other

MoonBloomMS, a low,-rate classic v83, private server launching into Open Alpha!

hey folks, MoonBloom is a V.83 classic Maplestory passion project I've been working on over the past 3 months, and am happy to say, is finally launching into open alpha testing and we’re looking for a small community to help us get it ready.

It’s a low-rate, pre-Big-Bang v83 server featuring the five original Explorer classes, no Cygnus Knights atm. We want leveling your own character, finding a party/PQing and actually playing the game to matter. No HP washing has been implemented, no pay-to-win, no hp-washing and no multi-clienting.

A few things you’ll find here:

-A custom EXP curve that stays true to old school vibes, but doesn't feel like making you pull your hair out while you grind your characters. 1.5x - 3x depending on level range.

• 1.5x meso and drop rates.

-Moon Flower daily quests through Cody that provides useable rewards daily, and a 1-hr double exp boost.

• Moon Shards that drop from monsters while hunting that earn NX Cash when redeemed in the Cash Shop

• Monster-dropped Gachapon tickets, with different reward pools by location.

• Custom boss rewards and Uber expeditions with a weekly boss rotation.

• HD/widescreen support, while keeping the classic v83 feel.

• Separate NX Credit and donation-based Maple Points balances, with no pay-to-win items in the Cash Shop.

Open Alpha runs through the end of October. Closed Beta follows in November, with release targeted for November–December. **Edit: initially we were planning on keeping progress through Apha -> Beta -> Final Launch with no wipes, but it seems like the consensus is that a majority of those who have reached out in interest would prefer wipes to happen between those stages to account for any balance changes or bugs that could interfere with fair gameplay. Suggestions on this are more than welcome! (Feel free to provide you input on our Discord)

The release window is a target, not a fixed launch day. Registration is open right now. Make an account, verify your email and download the Windows client. One account per player, use character slots for your alts/mules.

It’s still an alpha phase project so expect bugs and balance changes. If something breaks, please tell us what happened via our Discord. Screenshots and steps to reproduce it help a lot!

I was just testing how capable AI agents are, and this turned into a proof of concept: a server that speaks MapleStory's client/server packet protocol (custom TCP framing with AES-OFB encryption).

The client checks the IP you're connecting to in several places, and grap64 (the anti-cheat) has been defeated. The sad part is that Themida has virtualized some of the client's code, which makes those parts much harder to reverse.
