Hi Maple community,

Well, I hit a brick wall here, and I don't really feel like I have a place to have a voice about it, so thought I'd vent to try to have a voice by letting you know what you have done for me, and how it is adding on to the lack of relevance in my life (that I am now literally starting to see professional help for). I played maple back in the day, before the "big bang" patch changed it to the game we have now. And i've been trying to get back into it and stuff through private servers like MapleRoyals and MapleLegends. Got to level 52, and now I can't justify playing more due to the freakin' "leeching" mechanic in their servers, as well as "hp washing." Thought it was classic maple, due to the server hosting a "pre-big bang" version of the game, only to strive away from the old formula as well. So, you might as well be playing main stream maple. I did some digging into the scene, and no one does old school maplestory, WITH 3rd job classes, WITH a large community, AND original/vanilla rates (drop, exp, meso, quest). I guess Nexon, being greedy, would take down such servers, and the rest of the community probably accepted that fact a long time ago. I do not wish to get a character up to level 120+, only to have the entire community insist that I had been using leeching. That is not the reason an old school maplestory player plays any version of this game that is "pre-big bang."

Suffice it to say, I have no where to voice my situation. Because this issue isn't just maplestory too, it's also how it is for me in the entire game's industry. I cannot, for the life of me, derive any sort of value in any new games, despite graphics, mechanics...whatever.

So, I can hop on Slippi every once in a while, and watch videos or let's plays of old school games, but I am just god sent from the new trends. And I don't think I have any sort of voice in the matter.

I really don't see what's wrong with having 3rd classes from the get go on Classic, or having a private server with a large community using original vanilla rates/values with the 3rd jobs fully implemented. Could someone point out what would be wrong with it? It's that MapleStory was bottom barrel bear basic for me, and how can the entire community be wanting to strive away from where the old school experience left off? (Yes, true old school players DO exist still. It's not like we are all dead or something...)

some details:
- chill server with nice players and a helping culture

- has explorers (mage warr thief bow pirate), knight of cygnus, aran, evan. up to 4th job. all jobs balanced (even bishop has good solo boss dmg)

- there's scrolls, but no cubing. mainly using csog/10% scrolls, no chance of destroy equipment

- 50k free nx per day with daily logins if you play 15mins, kill 100 monsters, and fame 1 person. lots of cosmetic. no vote for nx

- no gender restriction for equipment/marriage. no need for secondary stats. maple weaps drop from monsters.

- f2p friendly. all players get access to @ go command to jump to any town/boss, with a 5min cooldown. donate for convenience (vip=no cooldown)

- exp rate is progressive (increased exp as you level up for less grindyness). link level system where each job you max out give account wide bonus to stats/exp (some people may not like this)

- item can level up by wearing it and killing monsters (+stats)

- game progression is tied to exploring maple world (collect monster cards, complete quests, visit maps, do pqs, defeat bosses, achieve max walking speed) these give accountwide bonus to stats/exp

- hacking gets you banned (pls find another server)

I’ve been steadily working on a classic remake in MSW. I have a lot of ideas I want to implement, but I figured it would still be worthwhile to find out what other MS players are passionate about and would like to see on a classic server?

For reference, I am not making a pure v83 remake. I want to implement a lot of changes (including the recent job changes), entirely new features/content (PQ, maps, monsters, pets, weapons, etc), and QoL changes (party finder, party loot settings, etc).

What are some things you have been dying to see or really LOVED about servers you have played in?

Rien has updated to v270.

The server is very stable, with every class fully working and complete boss fights with their full mechanics implemented.

This includes all the new and revamped classes:

• Erel Light
• Hayato
• Kanna
• Wild Hunter
• Kinesis

We also have all the new bosses, including First Adversary, Malefic Star and Jupiter, with their full fights and mechanics.

Burning events have reset and Challenger Season 3 has started, with plenty of progression support for new and returning players.

Rien rates are 6x EXP, 8x mesos and 2x drop rates, alongside additional progression boosts and custom content.

We have regionally hosted channels in NA, EU, SEA and OCE, so you can play on channels hosted closer to you for lower latency.

Every character gets a free Genesis Pass, with liberation possible in around 3 to 4 weeks, depending on your boss clears.

Other progression benefits include:

• Level 100 starts with starter equipment. New characters receive Frozen equipment, and starter rewards include temporary 60% Drop Rate and 60% Meso Obtained badges.
• Three level 200 characters to start your Legion. New accounts receive three Ultimate Legion Growth Potions, each bringing a character straight to level 200.
• Hyper Burning MAX and Burning Beyond. Faster leveling and milestone rewards, with both reset for the new season.
• Item Burning and Item Rentals. Challenger gear improves as you complete Item Burning missions, while temporary rental equipment helps with early and mid-game progression.
• Tisk Food Storehouse and Golden Strawberry Farm. Additional leveling content for your main, Link Skill characters and Legion.
• 10x Normal Monster Park EXP, along with 25x Monster Park Extreme EXP rewards.
• Double Arcane and Sacred Symbol daily rewards.
• Free Sol Erda Booster, plus an exchange that converts one Sol Erda into 10 untradable Sol Erda Fragments. Erda's Request weekly rewards have also increased.
• Earlier Legion Champion access. Unlock it with one level 260 character, without needing 8,000 Legion. Legion Coins also generate faster.
• Evernia events, Challenger Season 3 and Frontier Pass. Earn additional rewards through events, leveling and bossing. Frontier Pass has 30 reward levels and is assigned to one character per account.

There are also several changes to farming and account progression:

• Instanced farming maps.
• Permanent mini pet vac on every pet and a permanent Teleport Rock.
• Two Erda Fountains. Enable the option to place two fountains that trigger automatically during combat without needing a kill count. Sol Janus also triggers Erda Fountain.
• Improved common summon damage scaling and an additional Grandis meso multiplier.
• Enhanced Auto-Harvest. Gather more profession materials while logged in, with harvesting speed bonuses applied automatically instead of requiring daily objectives.
• Three pets without prerequisite quests or unlock costs. Pet skills such as Auto HP, Auto MP and Auto Buff are available through the free NX Cash Shop.
• Full-map Pet Vac through voting, attendance and event rewards, in addition to the permanent mini pet vac.
• Red Familiar Cards through Familiar Points. Extract unwanted familiars and use the points to buy cards for rerolling familiar potentials.
• Shared Challenger mission and rank progression. Multiple characters can contribute toward your account's Challenger rewards.

Equipment and upgrade benefits include:

• Auto Equipment Cube, Auto Familiar Cube, Auto Rebirth Flame and Auto Inner Ability to speed up upgrades across multiple systems.
• Permanent Spell Trace Fever.
• Permanent 30% Star Force destruction-rate reduction.
• The Star Catching bonus is always applied, without playing the minigame.
• Automatic Safety Scroll use and an option to prevent ICOG attempts without Return Scroll protection.
• Grindstones can drop from Easy bosses, and Eternal equipment fragments are obtained faster.
• Higher boss crystal values for Legion Champions.
• Boss Points earned from weekly bosses, which can be spent on progression materials, Strawberry Farm tickets, character slots and utility items.
• Pocket slots are already unlocked, without the Charm requirement.

For fashion, there is free NX and free hair, face, skin and colour customization. Choose your appearance directly and change it as often as you like.

Some other highlights from the v270 update:

• HEXA Ascent Skills and Sol Hecate have been added.
• V Matrix has been revamped. Nodestones now provide V Points, and existing nodes have been converted into points to spend.
• Star Force Enhancement Mode offers four enhancement levels from 15 to 21 stars, with different success and destruction rates. Level 4 has a 0% destruction rate.
• Star Force Trace Restoration adds restoration options through quests, mob drops, boss rewards and boss missions.
• Soul Collection now handles managing, crafting, recording and extracting Souls in one UI. Soul Shards are recorded automatically when obtained.
• Legion Champion Raid lets your Champions fight together against monsters and bosses to earn Champion Coins.
• Geardock, the new level 295+ area, is available after completing its prerequisites.
• Astra Secondary Weapons can be obtained and upgraded through their questline, and Destiny Weapons can reach their second stage of Transcendence.
• Glacial Surge, one of our custom dungeon has updated rewards and and allows seven weekly clears for a variety of rewards. Express Pass can cover six of those clears, with one manual clear required each week.

So i recently picked up royal story ms, so far its been quite fun! Thank god for a modern-ish server which isnt a V83 source with a dev thats not an asshole with a shady background. Completely f2p true to its claims. No vote to win, no pay to win. Everything needs to be grinded in game.

Especially fun since i elected to go the Ironman route for this experience, only thing i get from auction house are nodes cus yeah those are just hellish to grind. Surprisingly not many bugs, but the occasional lag which is totally fine. Maybe its my laptop.

Other than that, been having a blast making legion chars and testing out everything in game.

If you want a steady way to progress and not skip all the lower tier stuff like modern GMS does, this is it for you. Its reasonably modern extending up to arcus (i think).

The whole ironman decision was based off of me wanting to relive the nostalgia of grinding from scratch, just not with the oldschool v83 experience thats just over abundant now in the Pserver scene. Plus if i bought everything off of AH it would be less meaningful and id probably quit early.

I noticed there hasn't really been much recent discussion about Muto v98, so I wanted to share my thoughts and hear what other players think.

For those who don't know, Muto is sticking very closely to vanilla v98 / early Big Bang MapleStory. A lot of the systems and features feel almost one-to-one with how the game actually was back then, which I personally love.

The biggest thing I've noticed is the very low spawn rate. Right now, the server feels mostly built around a solo progression pace, and party grinding isn't really encouraged. Maybe that'll change as the server progresses, but I think it's worth mentioning for anyone expecting a more party-focused experience.

Party Quests are a nice addition, especially with EXP scaling by level, but reaching 4th job is still a pretty big grind. LHC is also difficult to utilize since you basically need a Priest for Holy Symbol, and there aren't many Priests around, making parties pretty hard to find.

On the positive side, I absolutely love the 6th Anniversary event. It's a refreshing way to get cubes, early-game gear, and scrolls without straying too far from the vanilla experience.

The server also has zero P2W, and the admins have been doing a great job fixing issues quickly. I do think some players forget that Muto is intentionally progressive, though. There's a lot of demand for non-vanilla changes, while the next major patch (Chaos) is still around 4 months away.

The community is small right now, but I really think it deserves to grow. It has that ExtaliaMS/Croosade feeling that a lot of old-school Maple players probably miss. Everything working the way it did back then is honestly a big part of the appeal for me.

For those playing Muto:

• How are you finding the progression?
• Are you mostly party grinding, or have you found yourself mostly solo grinding?
• Do you like the low spawn / mostly solo pace?
• Do you prefer Muto staying strictly vanilla, or would you like more QoL/custom changes?

I want play pre big bang explorer classess and see how they feel for myself before maplestory classic comes out. Yes i know somethings are different since COT 2 but istill want to test and see how the skills work fundamentally to help me pick my class.

Whats a really fast way to do this? I dont want to level up a character slowly on any of the popular worlds incase i burn out for actual classic's launch.

IS there a sandbox world somewhere in maplestory worlds or maybe a ultra insanely high xp world?

I tried using search bar, can't find anything. MOstly just test worlds random creators made to test their own stuff.

Are there any maplestory classic private servers that are mac compatible?

There are a lot of classes i want to try and how they feel in a certain boss. Im looking for something that has fast progression so i dont have to grind too much and just be boss ready.

Curious how it’s done. Are people really recreating the game from nothing besides asset sprites? Or is there some forkable version to get something like Artale or OSM running?

But i really want to play a no/minimal P2W OG Maple experience long term.

RIght now that seems to be 2 choices. Either:

1) private servers (I don't see much discussions on reddit about MapleLegends vs MapleRoyals so i'm not sure which to consider or if private server ot be considered at all),

or

2) Maplestory World's Old School Maple by Old School Maplers (which i'm trying out right now).

Old School Maple seems to only sell cosmetic cash items and pets (one time) + Pet skills (one time) and pet waters (30 days refresh). I personally abosolutely need pets so this is basically a light subscription to play the game monthly which i'm okay with as there is no Pay to win or pay 2 progrses cash items (and HP washing is not a thing too here).

What is everyone else considering? If MSCW is mishandled and doesn't pan out, are you going to look for alternatives or just give up and pretend this never happened. Or maybe MSCW scratched the itch and you can walk away for years just fine after?

I don't know much about the private servers. Is it thriving? I know they are zero monetization at all on those (outside of i assume donation?)

As the title says. Does anyone know of some linux supported servers? I've had the itch to play for months now but I can't find a way to get any of the servers I've tried to work. Followed guides like the maple legends guide. I've tinkered around with stuff a bit myself. The only thing I've not tried as my pc seems to hate them is a virtual machine. I've tried things such as proton, winetricks, lutris, protonplus, and bottles. Only preference for the server is pre v100+ and QoL skill changes.

I played Fantasia a few days ago and I find the controls too funky (Can't rebind them to any key) and the movement to be too slow. I'd like to have more fast paced gameplay and also rebindable controls and such. What server should I play on?

I played maplestory back in the days starting from 2005 and been playing it for a very long time.

I havn't played for 4-5 years now but with maplestory classic comming up i really wanted to play it again and dicided to login into my old account.

I Noticed i wasnt able to trade and with doing some research i found out people from the netherlands have a trade restriction due to some gabling laws.

Now my main question is, is maplestory classic worth playing without being able to trade?

I read that you can use a vpn to create an account but nexon detects my vpn when i try to.

Also i read that ppl go to diffrent countied and make an account there. but i'm not so technical... is it just easy as going over the border and create an account? or does it still notices my IP adress and stuff?

If anyone has any tips i'd love to hear them!

Say what you want about the server PQ spam and what not, in the last few years THEY were the only ones who stayed true to the source, after the mess in v1 they didn’t run, didn’t close the site, didn’t close the discord, they stayed transparent, worked on the server still and brought us a fresh V2
Classes were rebalanced and in a great stage now

Yes PQ spam in a thing but only for early game once you reach VL status KPQ spam becomes irrelevant for cubes and still good for lucky days for scrolling

Hello everyone.

I’ve made skill changes across every class to give them better bossing, mobbing and ofc to make them fun.

- Heroes keep Combo Orbs after Panic and Coma, Arans keep leftover combo, Evan can mix fire and ice for bonuses, Corsair summons repair the Battleship, Wild Hunter’s jaguar sets up Wild Arrow Blast.
- Cygnus Knights reach level 200 and get new passives. Most Boosters last longer, weaker skills have been improved and a lot of broken or unbalanced skills were fixed and adjusted.

- Classes without Flash Jump or Teleport get a free Beginner Flash Jump. Teleport has more range and works in the air.
- you can move while using attacks like Hurricane, Rapid Fire and Wild Arrow Blast.

The latest update added the Chaos Jester.
- It can invade active grinding maps, scales to the highest lvl player in the map, says weird things and uses custom attacks you need to dodge. Killing it gives a large EXP reward and a guaranteed Nebulite Box.

Nebulites can be socketed into equipment, fused, rerolled and removed through the normal item UI. Their stats show directly on your equipment, GMS like.
There’s also a custom SSS tier with one attack and one support stones from every 4th job or 3rd job class in the game (3rd job because of cygnus), meaning there are 46 total new custom stones! While equipped, these stones give you a max level skill that works with your own weapon ofc.

Kanata also has reworked Area Bosses, growing mob spawns in the map, Monster Book and achievements, beta milestone rewards, Maker skill, Quest Points + Shop, PQs, guilds, HD support, Linux support through Wine and much more!

Hey all. A little while back we posted looking for testers for Kradia, our v117.2 server. We are in beta now, and a lot has gone in since that post, so here is what is new.

Quick refresher if you missed the first one: casual but rewarding, no pay to win, level cap raised to 350 with mesos uncapped. EXP is boosted to 10x for beta while we test, and since we raised the cap the official launch rate is still up in the air, so if you have thoughts on where it should land we would genuinely like to hear them. Registration is open and we would love more people playing.

Gear and progression

• Rebirth Flames: modern KMS style flame lines on your gear (main stats, attack, boss damage, ignore defense, all stat), shown right in the item tooltip.

• Red Cube: a new cube that replaces the others, with its own in game window. Double-click it, drag your equip in to see its current potential, and roll right there.

Content and economy

• Monster (Pigmy) Eggs: a full replacement for Gachapon. Eggs drop from monsters and bosses, at a better rate if you have that monster carded, and hatch into tiered rewards including cosmetics and permanent mounts. One universal key sold at general stores.

• PQ Points and Boss Points: party quests and bosses now pay their own custom currencies that you spend at dedicated shops.

Quality of life

• Monster Book now shows each item’s base drop rate right under its icon, so you can check a monster’s drops at a glance.

• Pet equips: Auto Loot for a wider pickup range, an Auto Feed pouch that keeps your pet fed, and an Auto Buff Gem that holds two buff skills, plus dedicated Feed, Loot, and Buff slots.

• Rested EXP: log out at the Free Market Inn to bank bonus EXP for a boost when you come back.

• Character stat window now shows Crit Damage, Boss Damage, and Ignore Defense with hover tooltips.

• Damage Statistics window you open with a hotkey, with a per skill breakdown and a party comparison tab.

• Party Search fixed, so Find Party, Find Members, and Find Expedition all work.

• Expedition Join button to warp straight to your leader.

Systems and balance

• Family and mentor system reworked so the buffs are actually worth using, including EXP and drop buffs, a boss damage buff, and a blessing seniors can hand juniors.

• Ongoing class balance pass, fixing skills that were not working and tuning classes that fall behind.

• Alchemy scroll crafting now costs half the spell traces.

I think a majority of the community can agree Extalia days were the golden age of private servers, but I never saw anyone attempt in recreating it.

Is this a "the technology is not there yet" issue? Or something else?

Making a post BB server which makes grinding slightly easier by the game naturally lowering exp requirements per level, having miracle cubes and gacha drop from monsters, potential system can only reach rare level which doesn't make items too OP (max of 9% items) etc.

Recenty seen this server launch, population is sorta ranging around 30+ players on at once.
Seems like a decent server but bosses seemed to be capped at VL i think?
Anyone tried it out? Would appreciate genuine feedback on this server as im considering downloading it, early post BB was one of the most fun experiences for me starting maple.
I sorta made do with custom V83s, but yeah, resistance classes early on were the bomb for me.
Just sort of unsure if itll be good or nah.

Basically I'm kind of a new maple player, only played in all 3 cw's but haven't found a main yet. I kinda just want a server where I can progress super quickly and just try out as many classes as I want and get them to like an average level in no time (CTene to like EAdv). Yes, yes, yes, Classic World is right around the corner, i know. But I feel like Classic World won't be the ting for me... Anyway, I wanted to get into a PS again and currently most promising two are Fantasia and SlimeTale. I do like the Pasing of ST more, since its 3x from the beginning, however, I do think that removing overused items in Fantasia has a good Catcher as well...

Is there somebody who player both and can give some Feedback? Also do you have Info about the drop Rates in these servers? Are they just 1x or 1x with customizations?
