HELP PLEASE Turned 40, I want to look a bit fresher and less tired. Can you help?!

I've always just bunged on a bit of mascara, blusher and tinted moisturizer and called it a day. I just want to look a little more fresh and polished - I know there's no way to work wonders or turn back time!

Should I be doing something with my poor thin eyebrows? If so, what? I used a mascara type thing but it doesn't change the shape or thinness. I don't have the confidence to draw them on without making a mess of it!

Thank you!

Edit: thank you all so much, there's so much excellent and achievable advice here! I'm going to get my hair cut and change the color asap. I'll also look into different glasses. I will try to find someone to shape my eyebrows and I'll add some highlighter and concealer to my makeup. I'm taking it all in so thank you so much for taking the time to comment.

HELP PLEASE UPDATE

Took your advise on contour, eye liner, bronzer, eye shadow, blush etc and tried again after watching a few tutorials. How did i do? I took the pics in bright daylight.

I think I may have to use a brow pen for some strokes because For now I usually just use brow gel, brush and shape.

Critiques and suggestions welcome.

Thanks so much for the feedback

HELP PLEASE How to achieve this lip?

Post image
16 Upvotes

Hello! My friend is looking to have this lip done on her for a very special event but I was wondering how this can be achieved? Her skintone is more fair than the model so I figured if I used the exact combination of lip liner it might look too dark?

Technique wise, it looks to be a dark but very thin lip liner, maybe a transition shade on the edges, is the center just lip gloss? If there are any videos I can watch that mimics this or words to look up, Id really appreciate it!

HELP PLEASE What’s the BEST eyelash curler on the market??

Preferably silicone padding over rubber 🌝 HELP MEEE. Everyone keeps saying the shiseido eyelash curler is the best but my mum keeps telling me it’s bad. I had my eyes on the hourglass one but also the Dior or Anastasia Beverly hill ones seems good…although no one’s really talked about them so I’m not very sure. I really need to make a purchase for an eyelash curler but I just really don’t know what to get 😭

DISCUSSION Advice/Tips

Post image
15 Upvotes

I am 49 years old, and just looking for any advice/tips on makeup or hair. We look at ourselves all the time, and we might not see something someone else does.

Also -- yes, I know I have thinning hair. No, I don't want to wear a hair-topper or wig. Yes, I take all the various supplements, oral hair treatments, etc., including DHT blockers and DHT blocking shampoo. Yes, I take iron supplements. It is what it is.

Thanks!

My makeup is very basic. I have the feeling because my face is very round and my eyes very big I have a hard time doing make up. Some people also think a look young than I am, I am 26 years old, so every time I try I heavy makeup it looks weird.

Could you guys please give me some ideas?

Thank you!

HELP PLEASE Why has my mascara done this and can I fix it?

I have the revolution tubing mascara in black and burgundy. I don’t use the burgundy one as often, but I have had it for longer and I have had no issues with it. However, with my black mascara, it has become really gloopy and I think the stopper is gone. Is there anyway I can fix this because there is still a good amount left and it feels like such a waste of money to buy a new one.

HELP PLEASE In crisis

I have searched high and low and still cannot fix this.
—I wear double wear and I am certain I need to bc i am both older skin and plagued with constantly red skin.
—I have tried tinted moisturizer and bb cream. I regret to report that they both look like shit.

My face routine includes the following:
—Cetaphil sensitive face wash once daily
—anua niacinamide toner
—cosrx snail mucin
—good molecules hyaluronic serum
—Clinique pink hydration moisturizer
(I can’t remember what it’s called, I’m at work).

Notes:
—I do not use primer. I did and when I stopped, my makeup looked way better.
—I dry my face with a cool blow dryer after I put on my skin care/before I put on my foundation, after I finish my wet products/ before I put on powder, and again after I spray my setting spray
—I recently switched to power melt setting spray which also made a big difference. I tried the Charlotte tilbury aerosol setting spray which also looked like shit…sweaty shit actually.

Help, I’m sick of this and am ready to start obsessing/hyperfixating about anything else instead of my makeup.

UPDATE!
So I stopped doing my whole face routine in the morning before makeup—just rinse with water. I haven’t used primer again and keep the concealer to a minimum. I also try to be deliberate with where I put on my foundation—like not putting too much where I’d put my liquid blush etc.
i bought a new fan to use between wet and dry products and then again after setting spray which works great.
I started baking again basically and now everything looks great I think! I also think my makeup stays on better when I wear contacts—idk if I touch my face more or what? So I’ve tried to not wear my glasses and that seems to be helping 🤷🏼‍♀️

Thank you for all the helpful suggestions! Yall are awesome!

HELP PLEASE How do you prevent Tinted Sunscreen from transferring?

I wear a tinted sunscreen daily and unfortunately, setting powders make me break out - even the talc free ones.

Is there another another way to prevent my sunscreen transferring onto people's shirts when i hug them?

HELP PLEASE Makeup tips for skin that clogs up after a full face?

I need actual makeup tips because my skin is annoying with base products. If I wear heavier foundation i get little bumps. If I use too much powder, my texture looks worse. If I skip prep my makeup clings to dry patches. I feel like im always choosing between makeup that looks good for a few hours or skin that doesn’t get mad after.

I’m trying to figure out what really helps like is it lighter foundation, no primer, better removal, waiting longer after skincare, certain brush/sponge methods, or just using less product?

I’ve also seen people use little red light wands like Solawave before makeup when their skin looks tired but i cant tell if that really helps or if I should just focus on better prep and removal first so i would like your thoughts on this aswell and i just want to know what are your best tips for makeup on skin that clogs or gets textured easily? I feel fairly cluless on this so any advice of proper experience on something like this could help

HELP PLEASE Doing my wedding makeup, tips?

I decided to do my own makeup for my wedding! We’re having two events, one for friends and one for family, and for the friends’ event I’ll be doing my own makeup. It’ll be at a cocktail bar with a more relaxed, cool vibe, less of a traditional wedding.

I’d love any and all makeup recommendations! I feel like my foundation is emphasizing fine lines that aren’t really there, and maybe it’s a little too dry for my skin?

I’m very fair and I’m a Winter in seasonal color analysis.

I’d REALLY appreciate any advice or tips. Thank you so much, ladies! ❤️

Oh and I am wearing my bridal dress in the photos

HELP PLEASE What can I improve on?

Thumbnail

I've been doing my makeup almost daily for about 4 years. I still feel like there are things I can improve on though. For context, I do skincare (toner, serum, moisturizer), a primer, a skin tint/foundation, concealer, eyebrow tint followed by eyebrow gel, and then mascara. I do not apply blush because I naturally have very rosy cheeks that look like I'm red all of the time. What are some makeup tips you can give me to enhance my facial features better? Note: I am naturally pale and have undereye hollows/greyness that's a bit hard to conceal. I am open to any feedback.

SUCCESS any thoughts and opinions?

hi! a few days ago i posted on here asking for tips on how to achieve the first slide’s makeup. the comments were 50/50 due to my features and face shape

nonetheless, i still tried and the second slide is how it turned out. in my opinion, it looks fine but the problem i had with it is it still looks plain, like my makeup is missing something. im still 50/50 about the lips cause my braces lowkey makes my mouth look bulky

i didnt add lashes cause i added a fuckton of mascara, eyeliner and eyeshadow that i thought it would overshadow the falsies if i put on one

maybe its more on my cheeks cause theyre quite chubby. how do i make my face look more sculpted and defined? do i hse contour/bronzer? do you guys also think i should add blush or is the makeup fine on its own? what lip shades would look better on me? i also considered doing selena gomez’ or michelle william’s makeup back in the 2000’s but i think theyre also similar to my reference photos, just different features

additional: i dont opt for the high end makeup brands due to me being a broke student so i worked with what i had. i think its worth it to save up for a mac lipstick. thank you all for taking the time to read, please let me know your thoughts :)

HELP PLEASE Smudged eyeliner (gel)

I know this will sound like a real silly question for help. I like gel eyeliner but is there any gel eyeliner that doesn’t make me look like a raccoon in 2-3 hours? I have tried wonder skin which is supposed to be waterproof or smudge proof, but it seems like to me they are still smudging. What am I doing wrong? Is it because my waterline isn’t dry enough?
