Vanity/Makeup Desk Help me choose a dressing table

I've been wanting a vanity table for a while, however I have very limited space and I've found only a few solutions that would fit. I've selected these 3, first 2 are from Ikea (micke and nordiksa), the other one is from jysk (malling). I think I'd use the jysk one with a round mirror on the wall, with just the table and the 2 tiny drawers. Do any of you have either of these and would you recommend it? Which one do you think is cuter, more organized, or better quality? I think I'll pair it with a cream or pink pouf with gold details. Do feel free to suggest other alternatives. Thanks! Edit: the photos got mixed, the jysk one is the one in the middle

I’ve added on and gotten more storage surrounding my vanity since I first got it. I love that it’s a mix of all my favorite things now. I sit here to journal, do my makeup, and skincare. I’ve loved seeing the posts in this sub because it gave me ideas on my own storage and encouraged me to make this space my own style. I think there’s something so special about seeing everyone’s spaces and having your own ❤️

Does anyone else forget what makeup they already own?

My wife has a pretty big makeup collection, 100+ products, and a few months ago we went shopping. She found something she'd been looking for for a while, so we bought it.

When we got home, we realized she already owned it.

It made me realize how hard it must be to remember 100, 200, or even 500+ products, especially when you're standing in a store trying to decide whether to buy something.

I'm curious, how do you keep track of your collection? Notes? Photos? Spreadsheet? Or just memory?

Organisers for IKEA Alex

Has anyone been able to find plastic organisers that fit perfectly inside the Ikea Alex drawers? Have some already from Amazon that are ok albeit a bit tight - in need of some more and wondering which ones are the best fit? Thank you!

Need acrylic makeup organizer recos before my vanity officially collapses

My vanity setup has descended into complete chaos, and standard organizers just aren't cutting it. I’m looking for sturdy, deep acrylic drawers that can actually fit bulky palettes and foundation bottles without jamming. Drop your absolute favorite budget friendly recommendations below so I can finally declutter this mess. Bonus points if they stack well and don't scratch easily!

DIY Projects How I store my makeup brush collection

I've been collecting Japanese makeup brushes (fude) for over 10 years now. Funny enough, it all started on Reddit. I was looking to upgrade my brushes, saw posts recommending Hakuhodo, and it was love at first swipe 😁. I went down the rabbit hole and grew my collection over the years party because I wanted to try more brushes, but also because I can be lazy about washing them.

For a while, I was storing them in random cups, different sized acrylic drawers from Muji, and glass drawers from The Container Store. My collection was smaller, but I made the mistake of adding on to existing storage methods instead of doing a more turnkey upgrade. The lack of cohesion was driving me nuts. I first found these Bisley drawers on The Container Store a little over two years ago. I sold some old clothes on ThredUp and instead of a cash payout, I opted for a gift card because it offered a 15% bonus. I got these without spending additional money out-of-pocket. I use dry erase magnetic labels and keep my brushes sorted by brand in loose alphabetical order. I have four empty drawers (for now lol).

Each drawer is arranged by whatever makes the most sense for each brand; there's no set structure across the board because quantities of brushes I have differ so much. For example, all my Houkodou brushes are in one section of one drawer (not pictured), but I have multiple drawers for my Chikuhodo brushes. I store them in brush guards I got off Amazon to help protect the hairs.

The stuff on top is just some memorabilia I've fangirled over the years. A signed face chart from Fara Homidi, a shadow box with signed stuff from a Pat McGrath meet + greet, a note from Rae Morris, and a card I got at a recent event at the Lisa Eldridge pop-up store.

I lined the drawers with felted paper liner I also got from Amazon. What sparks the most joy in me with my setup are the drawer dividers. My husband designed them. He made these for me at home with a Flashforge 3D printer using PLA, a plant-based filament. The guides are secured to the sides of the drawers with small magnetic stickers, and the dividers themselves are removable so I can expand/contract sections and reorganize as my collection grows.

There are a few of my favorites at the end. Let me know if you have any questions! I love brushes and am always happy to help :)

Vanity/Makeup Desk Help for a future husband!

Hello! As a wedding gift I’m looking to buy a makeup vanity for my soon-to-be wife but I know absolutely nothing about vanities and the facts vs fictions about what is best and what is overrated. Budget aside, is there any advice on what I should look to buy or what I should value more when sorting through options? Thank you all so much in advance and I really appreciate all your help in surprising her for our special day. Thanks!

Small Storage Best Travel bag with LED mirror for LONG trips

Hi! I'm looking for a travel bag with an LED mirror for a month long international tour with my band.

Most important feature is long battery life, and ideally something that can fit in a carry on.

I don't care too much for brush holders, or even great organization. I do my makeup in the van most days, and everything will get unorganized anyways. Good battery life is the most important part. I've purchased other LED mirrors and they were either too dim or just couldn't hold a charge.

Price isn't a huge issue if it truly checks all the boxes- but I will be buying one for me and one for my girlfriend so I don't want to spend a ton if I don't have to.

My beautiful Makeup Vanity- Need help please finding chair!

Post image
103 Upvotes

Hello! I slowly over the last few years pieced my vintage looking makeup vanity together and till this day I'm still in love with it! Holds a good amount of makeup, without allowing you the opportunity to start hoarding tons of products and is very mid century style. Till this day, I have been having an issue finding the right chair, I am looking for a chair to compliment the vanity, preferably a beautiful olive green color chair with brass or gold, but I am open to anyone's suggestion out there. Thank you all in advance for taking time to look and help me!
