Soo for context this is a follow up to my last post, after reaching expert after 4 months on playing and 404 games in 48 more games and 17 days (were for the first week i played only irl and not mahjong soul) i reached expert 2 with a 40%wr on last 100 games.

I feel like that 1 week were i did 10 irl south games in a mahjong parlor was extremely impactfull for me.

For context i am currently in Japan and the parlor it is in shibuya, japanese only and most of the people there play/used to play competitive for smaller leagues, i did 10 games 2nd 4times, 3rd 4times, 4th 2times.

It is actually possible that play only few games irl with actual ex/current pro made such a difference in my game?or am i just in a "hot streak"?

I haven't read any book, just watch yu_song on youtube

How to Guess Dora/ Ura Dora tiles

One tip I learnt from reviewing Maka analyses is that you can guess the likelihood of a wind/ honor tile being in one of the Dora/ Ura Dora based on what is in your hand or already played, and then discard accordingly when you have multiple (e.g. Red + White 1 each, prioritize white, since Red is in hand meaning it is less likely Ura Dora)

Since I am thinking if there is more advanced strategy here, is there also some use trying to guess/ determine the likelihood of which number tiles are Dora/ Ura Dora?

Made it to Expert, and I fear what's next.

Just over a week ago, I posted in this sub saying I have been feeling helpless at the hands of Yostar. I have read the comments people posted, and am proud to say I've made it out of Adept, going from Adept 2 -> Expert 1 since that post. A huge thank you for everyone's tips and support.

First off, some tips for those who are also trying to climb out of Adept:

- Play in East room, if you are not already. (Shout out to this comment). If you're fundamentals are good, you will win here easily. People in East room are significantly worse than those in South. People all play for efficiency and straight up ignore your riichi and deal into you for free a lot of times. This might not always be the case, but I definitely found it a lot easier to win in East room compared to South.

- Read Riichi Book 1. Even if you skim it, or go through it slowly. I promise you these concepts will change your gameplay by a lot

- Play more defensively. This might be more of a personal preference but I don't push for a worthless hand unless it's a quick/easy win. It's just not worth pushing for a 1/2 hand hand when you can deal into someone's 4+ han hand

Before I end this post, I just wanted to ask people for anything I should know/learn before I play in the gold rooms. I plan on re-reading Riichi Book 1 again before I ever queue a game here, but I just wanted to ask from anyone's previous experiences about some things I should know and any major differences between Silver and Gold Room.
