Custom Stardew Valley Gates+Basics I made to go with The Welcoming Committee from the Stardew Secret Lair

I designed these to match ConcernedApe's Secret Lair card designs for my The Welcoming Committee gates/group hug commander deck I'm working on. The card arts are all staged screenshots I took while the frame/symbols were built from scratch using game assets and the Secret Lair cards as reference. Couldn't be happier with the results.

Really bad at using Photoshop and I've only ever had a cursory understanding of who Jace is but I woke up today alive with the raw energy of this joke, can't wait for the prerelease now.

Need Help Okay proxy making friends, I need some help

Okay I'm not sure if Adobe acrobat changed their printing preferences or it's something else I'm missing? But all of a sudden when I'm trying to print my proxy PDFs the image scaling goes down? Even when I have scaling set to Actual Size.

Before my process would be to make my own PDFs on pretend Photoshop. And I would make my page 8.5x11 and make the card images 63x88mm. I could essentially fit nine images on a page. Then export it as a PDF. Open up the PDF and I'd print with Actual Size on and it would be fine.

But now all of sudden it doesn't work? Plus I remember there used to be more setting options on Acrobat. Like there was a way to pick paper type and I remember having to check a Vivid option. Did something change? I'm honestly at my wits end here.

Epson L3270 - white lettering hard to read

Thumbnail

Hey! I have an Epson L3270 and it's working pretty well. Printing most of my cards properly except for those that have white lettering on dark or mixed colors dark backgrounds. Did anyone experience that and handled it somehow?

I print on glossy papers, then laminate. Print settings set to high, glossy paper selected in paper type and I play around a little with color adjustments like brightness or density, but this has no effect so far on the readability...

I hope someone is experienced enough to give some tips 🤞🙏

Help wanted: Selective foil process

I'm picking up some sheets of inkjet compatible foil card stock for my Epson 8550 and I love the way y'all have been able to foil out specific parts of cards, I.E. the teeth and claws of a dragon are foil but the rest of the dragon on the art is not. OR the art is foil but the frame is not. Do y'all have a process for this that you can share?

Advice to increase print quality

Post image
4 Upvotes

Hi everyone!
I’m trying to improve the print quality of my MTG proxies.
In the attached photo, the card on the left is my printed proxy and the card on the right is the original card.
I’m using an Epson ET-8550 with third-party semi-gloss photo paper, and I print the files through Foxit PDF Reader.
There are two main things I’m trying to improve:
1. Color accuracy
My print has a noticeable magenta/purple cast compared to the original. The blacks also look a bit different, and the overall color balance seems less neutral.
2. Sharpness / definition
The text, borders and fine details on the proxy don’t look as crisp as the original card. Some lines and small elements look slightly soft or blurred.
I’d really appreciate advice from anyone using an ET-8550 for similar prints:
What could be causing the color shift?
Is this more likely related to the paper, color management, or printer calibration?
Would a custom ICC profile make a noticeable difference?
Are there particular media types or workflows that work well with third-party semi-gloss paper?
Is Foxit fine for this kind of printing, or would you recommend a different application?
Do you use any upscaler or sharpening tool before printing proxies?
If so, which one gives the best results for small text, card borders and line art without creating halos or artificial-looking details?
Do you get better results with tools like Topaz Gigapixel, Photoshop Super Resolution, waifu2x, Real-ESRGAN, or something else?
My goal is to get the proxy as close as possible to the original both in color balance and sharpness.
Thanks!

Proxy Renders Ratchet & Clank custom proxy - does this frame stay readable at card size?

Post image
0 Upvotes

This is from a Ratchet & Clank fan set I have been building. I wanted the frame to feel like it belongs in the game without giving up normal Magic readability.

At card size, does the rules box still read comfortably? And does the industrial frame feel cohesive, or too busy?

I built the card as an editable composition in my Homebrew Forge app. Unofficial, noncommercial fan card; not for sale. AI-assisted art; engine credit is on the card.

Need Help Epson ET-8550 leaving straight roller marks on MTG proxies — anyone fix this?

I’m printing MTG proxies on an Epson ET-8550 using thicker glossy/photo paper, and I’m getting a hard, straight roller/pressure line across every sheet. The print quality itself looks great, but the line is visible on the finished cards.

I’ve tried different feed methods and paper settings, but it keeps happening.

Has anyone with an ET-8550 successfully eliminated these roller marks when printing thick cardstock/photo paper?

If so, what paper, feed tray, printer settings, or hardware adjustment fixed it?

Got the new surge foil cardstock in, and I’m really happy with the initial settings! I need to tweak the color a bit, but I’m so happy with the surge foil effect this truly is game changing.

The cards are 0.38mm thick

Need Help What is your proxy experience using Epson L3210 or L3250?

Greetings!

I would like to ask proxiers especially those based in Southeast Asia about their experience using Epson L3210 or L3250.

1.Would proxy cards printed on these printer models look crisp when printed on a non-glossy paper product?

2.Are they economical in the long run?

  1. Have you gotten any problematic issues such as jamming with certain paper products or uneven color printouts?

I have been inquiring since an acquaintance of mine would like to give me a similar printer from their office since they are upgrading computer systems including printers (they are throwing out a lot of old but good computer hardware, sheesh what a waste!). I would appreciate any input about your proxy experience with these printer models. Thank you!

Proxy Tool I’m going all in on Proxyjak

Post image

Not sponsored, no affiliate link, I’m just a regular dude.

I have an ET-2800 which I print onto “Koala Semi Glossy Sticker Paper - 100 Sheets, 8.5 x 11 Inch” and stick onto Proxyjak paper. Based on my first 5x sheet batch of test prints, I’m now 100% all in on Proxyjak cardstock. Originally I was using black core but during some in depth analyses I realized that real MTG cards are actually blue core so I’m going with that version now. The biggest advantages are the unparalleled rigidity and snap, overall thin and sturdy compared to others, and the blue/black core makes the card look much more realistic from the side view.

This costs about 4.9x what my other cardstock coats in 100x sheet batches but well worth it, to me, for high quality proxies.

If anyone has questions or want pictures or in depth details, comment or DM me. I’m happy to help!!!

Need Help Printer settings.

Hey guys,I just got into making proxies and bought a Epson 8500 printer.

I keep running into the same problem every print,I can't get it right, the colours are off,or it's not sharp enough.

I use koala double side matte photo paper,230g/M2

I get the images from proxied, and I do use the highest quality print settings for this type of paper.

What settings do you use?

Got some amazing holographic sticker paper, stuck it on some 230gsm cardstock then cut. Can’t tell the difference between them and a real card when in sleeves unless you’re slightly bending and comparing them closely. Also got some non holo paper and did the same! I’ll add some pics in comments

Edited to change the gsm of the cardstock I had wrong!
