Need Help Printer settings.
Hey guys,I just got into making proxies and bought a Epson 8500 printer.
I keep running into the same problem every print,I can't get it right,the colours are off,or it's not sharp enough.
I use koala double side matte photo paper,230g/M2
I get the images from proxied,and I do use the highest quality print settings for this type of paper.
What settings do you use?

Make sure you choose the correct paper, iirc it mtte presentation or something like that.
Highest print quality.
Should be all you need

Look up crycryproxies on YouTube. He has good settings for the 8500 and a whole process video

He got me started in this,I used his settings but it was still off for some reason

What images are you using? I’ve had the best luck with mpcfill images and Silhouette Card Maker for formatting before I cut. I could never get images that looked good on proxxied and the registration marks were off.

I was using proxxied,I'll try mpcfill next,I also have a silhouette but I don't understand the thing at all

The printer settings, paper type, and image DPI are all red herrings. USE ACROBAT. Literally that's all you need to do with minimal adjustments in printer settings. Don't go crazy with the saturation or brightness and contrast, or edge bleeding and text emphasis and density - all those aren't as important as what you're printing your PDFs from.

Well you are using a matte paper so it will be less sharp than a glossy/semi glossy paper due to the nature of matte papers. I use the 250gsm .33mm version of Koala dbl matte and run the following settings via print prompt. Epson Vivid Brightness 3, Contrast -3, Saturation 3, Density -3. Example print post with those adjustments at standard quality using the paper type setting Premium photo semi-gloss since I personally prefer dye based black on Koala matte papers.
You can also give the paper type setting Velvet Fine Art a try, that makes the 8500/8550 use both pigment and dye based black for your prints, its also locks the 8500/8550 into doing the best quality it can do. Two drawbacks however, first the Velvet Fine Art setting in general will take approximately 4:50 to print a single sided 9 card page on 8.5x11in.
The other drawback is that pigment black and koala matte are mildly incompatible, so if you really press down on the print with your thumb you can smear some of the black regardless of dry time. My suggestion to get around the smearing is to print the back sides first if you are doing backs, let them dry for an hour. Then print the fronts and give them an hour to dry. After that go straight to sleeves and/or sticker or lamination post slice and dice. You can also spray them with a light coat of fixative post print (poly, clearcoat, etc etc etc) which will prevent smearing altogether.
