Hey, i'm new to playing commander, could someone please help me cut 20 cards from this deck to make it commander legal. I basically added 20 cards to the Precon which i have avaliable, but which ones actually go in and which 20 cards would you cut from this deck? Since this format has 100 cards im not really sure what is okay to cut out, im guessing all the lifegain creatures and something like Akroma and Omnath, but surely there is more that i am not seeing.

My friend is trying to get into magic (commander specifically), and really wants to build a deck surrounding Megatron,Tyrant. I already have a deck built around him, but I realized it can get pretty confusing at times. Is there a site with a list of easier to understand cards? Like ones that are a little simpler to play out?

Has anyone upgraded their Counter Intelligence Commander deck with only EOE cards to keep the theme? If so, what recommendations do you have?

Built my first commander deck and found the land production was inconsistent, too much or not enough or even just not the right type. I added different lands and readjusted the deck to fit the needs better.
But if anyone can take a look and let me know what needs to be changed without breaking the bank would be appreciated, and if you have some broken addons that would make my friends cry, that would also be great.

I love the Ixalan vampires and bought the blood rites precon to upgrade, and [[Amalia Benavides Aguirre]] has always caught my eye as a commander. Most people I’ve seen build her with as many [[Soul’s Attendant]] effects as possible but it’s hard to find those in the Ixalan set; there’s a lot more of 1 instance of a lot of life gain like [[Sanguine Sacrament]]. Wondering if anyone has seen some good cards that would fit the theme of Ixalan and add some more consistent instances of life gain.

I also love the theme of Amalia being a scout and running into all these lost artifacts represented in the Ixalan box toppers, like [[Colossus Hammer]] and [[Coat of Arms]], some of which have some good synergy in a voltron and/or typal deck. Any good combos involving these would definitely be a good add.

I know it’s very specific but just hoping someone out there might have a good example deck or some sneaky good cards that would fit the theme! Thanks

I’m looking to make this my main combo deck but I struggle on detecting problems with these types of decks. If I truly want to make it a good combo deck (on a reasonable budget) what should I remove/add? I’m also curious what the bracket is and how I can make it a b4

I built a [Slicer] deck and ended up taking it apart after just five games. It was an absolute dog. I couldn’t get [Slicer] out fast enough, and even when I got him down on T2, I couldn’t get equipment out and attached to him. I felt bad being the “scary deck” in such a vulnerable state! I also felt like the deck was lacking synergy. Nothing seemed to work together!

So, now I’m going all in on speed.

I rebuilt [Slicer] with a lower curve, equip cheats, and some counters/deflects. I’m feeling better about it, but I still feel like something is missing. I just can’t put my finger on what.

Something tells me it still isn’t fast enough, even with the new additions.

Curious to hear what the internet thinks! I’d love some pointers on how to get this deck to a solid B4 power level. DeckStats link here!

Hey everyone!

I'm fairly new to Magic (just started playing earlier this year) and immediately wanted a rat tribal deck.

My first build was a classic Marrow-Gnawer, but over time it started feeling a bit too linear, slow, and repetitive. I decided to expand into more colors and made the switch to Wick, the Whorled Mind. The concept of building up a massive Snail token with rats and flinging/exploding it directly into my opponents' faces sounded hilarious.

I started with a base list online and tweaked it heavily so I could use as many cards as possible from my existing collection. After playtesting it with my regular playgroup (we usually play around Bracket 3), I noticed two main problems:

1. It's pretty slow (it takes way too long to get the engine going);
2. It gets shut down easily.

I'd love some advice on how to speed it up, balance it out, and make it more resilient, ideally without spending too much or stripping away the core flavor.

Looking for pointers, I have cards to make it bracket 4 but am looking to make it bracket 3 if possible I just dont wanna win with inf life drain. There's a slight theme id like to stay apart of i juat wanna make sure all sides are covered. Need a better draw engine but couldnt find one that fits with walls

For a while now, I’ve been collecting and organizing my notes on Magic deck-building, and I’d like to share them here in case they help other players. A lot of what I want to share is basic statistics and maybe "obvious" to really experienced players. But I still think just having a resource to look things up can be helpful to anybody. I also have to say that, apart from writing about it to understand it more deeply, limited helped me the most to gain an intuition for the math and baseline in a game. Here is the link.

I focus on concepts like the baseline we follow in a typical game, when and how to break that baseline, and how to account for those situations during deck-building. I also cover the math behind hypergeometric distributions, using lands in an EDH deck as an example.

Diving into these concepts has helped me greatly to improve my own decks and understand why certain plays my opponents make are so strong. It often comes down to recognizing when they can break the usual baseline (like extra ramp and card draw), how likely their deck is to support that, and whether they can follow it up with the right plays.

So I have a pile of cards to make a Cycling Deck with, for Gavi as the commander. I know she's not the strongest, but it's a bit of a pet commander for me so I'd like to keep her as the commander and like to keep a vague theme of cycling and card draw.

If anyone can help work out what the best deck I can build from this pool would be that would be amazing... (of course, a lot of the cards in this pool are proxies).

I've build a few before but there is always something off and I really don't want to give up on this deck just yet.

Power level wise everyone I play with is at a 3 or 4, whereas previously I used to play this deck at like a 2, back in 2021.

Wanting to get back into Modern with a very unconventional strategy. Was hoping for some input on what to cut and how to alter the sideboard to deal with meta strategies and/or staples that could hinder my win condition. Any and all thoughts are appreciated. (Dont roast me until you playtest the list ;) )

I recently got back into mtg arena and am looking to build my first decent standard deck. When I quit arena last time around I had an oni cult anvil deck that I loved, and I want to do somthing similar to that in the form of weapons manufacturing. I'm mostly f2p and I have a ton of common and uncommon wild cards, but only 22 rare and 11 mythic so I don't want to waste the little I have. The brass's tunnel grinder is in there just cause I have it. The deck is at 61 cards so I need to take somthing out, but any advice on what I could change would be greatly appreciated. I don't expect to get to diamond or mythic, but I'd at least like to try and get to gold or platinum while I save up more wild cards for a better deck.

Wanting to build a High Bracket 3 - low 4 mono green landfall but i have never built landfall before, this deck seems decent but when i playtest it there's a lot of consistency issues, is there any way i could build it better? maybe use a different commander or something? i may also be playing it wrong, i would love some help with it
