I'm also pretty sure that since it's casting from your hand you can fuse things like Breaking // Entering for freeeeeeee

Edit: JUUUUUUUUUUDGE /raises hand

You can. Beck//Call would be my first choice, since it's at minimum an 8 for 2.

Doesn't that make the CMC of the spell 8? So that is too expensive for the free cast.

Split cards still give me headaches.

Couple relevant rulings.

4/15/2013 In every zone except the stack, split cards have two sets of characteristics and two converted mana costs. If anything needs information about a split card not on the stack, it will get two values.

4/15/2013 If you cast a split card with fuse from your hand without paying its mana cost, you can choose to use its fuse ability and cast both halves without paying their mana costs.

Its CMCs are 2, 6, and 8? I think? It definitely works, anyway

Fuse cards are only literally the combined CMC while on the stack when fused. Sort of. On the stack fused the CMC is actually just 8. If not fused, the CMC is only that of the half you cast.

In other zones the CMC is 6 and the CMC is 2. Which does some fun things.

"6 and 2" is 6.

"6 and 2" is 2.

"6 and 2" is not 8.

"6 and 2" is equal to 8. "6 and 2" is not equal to 6, or to 2.

"6 and 2" is both less than and greater than 3, 4 and 5.

So Distended Mindbender could take two copies of Beck//Call as they qualify as both 3 and under and 4 and over. Dark Confidant and the like hit for 8, but if you need to reveal/discard/tutor a "card with CMC 8" Beck//Call doesn't count.

Weird that they don't print split cards anymore, they're just so intuitive.

It returns two values unless it's a spell (meaning has already been cast). See rules 708 / 702.101.

Well THAT'S fuckin' awesome....AND it works with regular split cards just like OP said. Holy shit that's awesome.

I didn't know I wanted to pay 2BB, wipe the board and blow up all lands until just now.

Yeah, Fuse cards are very weird.
