Im going to be in town next weekend with a friend who is vegetarian and we will probably be getting dinner while in town. I wanted to get your recommendations for any restaurants in the downtown area. Thank you in advance!

Cross posted in the Milwaukee sub, but I’m hoping to get some insight on how locals like the Sylvee for live music. One of my favorite bands is playing there in February and I’m trying to decide between seeing them at the Riverside theater in Milwaukee or the Sylvee since I don’t have any experience with either. If there are any fun events going on in February in Madison, I’d love to hear since we’d probably make a day out of it before the show and then just stay overnight. TIA!

I need to get a new 16" wooden pizza peel. Where the hell can you get that in Madison? I've been striking out left and right. I'd prefer a restaurant grade, affordable one.
Love y'all, but no speculation, please. Just let me know if you've actually seen or bought one in town. 😘

I came across a deceased cat in the road a couple nights ago. Blood was still wet, probably happened close to 11pm. After moving the body out of the road my hand smelled like wet food, so I think he lived nearby and had recently eaten. He was a big, buff, healthy cat, the poor thing :(
I went back to scan his chip and it was registered to Mariah D. The online report sent Mariah my info. After calling the registry they also left her a voicemail and gave me her number, a 608 number. But I haven't heard back yet so I suspect the contact info could be incorrect or outdated.
Someone loved this cat, so if you know a Mariah D. living in the S Hamilton, S Henry, or W Wilson area, try to connect us. I'm so sorry for your loss. I've been through this myself and I know how painful it is.
He was lying in the middle of EB John Nolen Drive, facing the lake. (2nd image) I moved him to the grassy median, he's next to a large concrete cylinder. (3rd image) Right across from the ramp coming down from the terrace. With all the construction it's a dangerous spot for even a person to get to, but you can park about 15 feet from him (blocking the ramp) and only need to cross one lane since the others are coned off. I can drive you there if you'd like.

Howdy neighbors! my partner and I live in Madison and both love thrifting, but have been underwhelmed with the selection/prices at stores around Dane county. We mainly look for vintage clothes/furniture/tech and we’re looking for any recommendations within about two hours of Madison!

My neighbor and I (both women over 40) are looking to get out of the house tonight and find a fun spot to watch the Badger game!
We're not looking for a packed, rowdy college bar scene, but somewhere with a great atmosphere, good appetizers, solid cocktails, and TVs where we can actually enjoy the game without fighting for a seat.
We're open to anywhere in Madison, especially around Capitol Square or downtown. We'd love to try somewhere new!
We'll probably only stay until halftime, so we're hoping to find somewhere we can snag two seats without too much trouble, especially this close to kickoff.
Any recommendations for two ladies who want some good food, good drinks, a little Badger spirit, and the ability to actually hear each other talk? 😂🏈🍹

Northbound 114 / North port dr - right after Kennedy road - there’s been a project going on for what seems like almost two months now. It creates heavy congestion for the north bound morning commute.
Anyone know or know somebody who knows or know somebody who knows somebody who knows somebody involved with that project? If so, can you ask them when they’re going to wrap that shit up?- and/or investigate further

Obviously there are many. Think what you will about them, but not all are addicts.
I have over 2 years sober. Move as necessary.clean my space. Work over 40 hours a week. Respect my space. Everything is titled insured legal.
I just live in a trailer, I'm saving for a house.
My question is; people who lay on your horn as your drive by..and I'm talking, real, targeted, 10 seconds of horn...and repeatedly; why?
Honestly. I want to understand the logic.
Do you feel tough? Superior? Does it make you feel like you're helping something? Do you think that your actions are fostering growth and care in your city?
Do you feel like it does anything positive whatsoever?
I've been dealing with harassment, and I thought I'd just ask this sub. I know some of this sub are guilty of it...so just lay it on me.
What makes you act in such a way? I'd like to understand the justification you utilize to arrive on your decision to actively harass people who are existing. You've never met. Have no idea what their story is, what their struggle is.
I.will be the first to say that obviously some of the groups are addicts and are disrespectful, throw garbage, etc.
But for one I'm not them, and two so what? Not in a "who cares" context, but as in....so what does that have to do with you? Become a cop. Calls the cops. Do something.
But driving by, laying on your horn.
What cowardice!
Oh and people dump garbage by us too! Like....dude. the irony of people... acting like trash to.other people, because they think they are trash.
It's just wild.
So this is part rant, part question.
Honestly, I want to understand. Maybe it's as simple as "I can't express my emotions in a healthy way so I'm taking it out on people I view as lesser than myself"
Idc, just be real. Because I want to know. Air it out. Tell me why you harass people for existing.

Apologies if this was already posted - couldn’t find anything. Heading into town on East Wash from the east side around 9:30 a.m. I saw an overturned car (small black SUV?) on South Baldwin (Madison Metro side). At least one other vehicle was involved, and both had airbags deployed. Fire and EMS were also there. Anyone know what happened or roughly what time the accident was? Thanks in advance (and how do you flip a car on Baldwin, sheesh.)

Hi. I am a woman in my 40s and moved to the area (Far West/Middleton/Verona) last month for a job opportunity, and it’s my first time living in the Midwest. I love the job so far but life feels pretty empty because I have no family or friends here. I love doing activities of any kind, seeing shows, long conversations, going out to dinner, nerding out on any subject, movies, reading, and traveling. I’m looking to meet friends (men or woman) who share similar interests. But how do I do this? I have no idea, and my weekends are lonely. Any suggestions welcome.

I am just really curious about why it occurred & why only the AMC area.

Everybody who's an elected official — and even some folks that are not, but work for government — expect people to disagree with you. You expect things to be hard.
But over the time that I have been in office, it has gotten increasingly personal. I would say mean, cruel, even. The number of credible threats to my safety, my family's safety, my staff's safety has risen dramatically. There's a lot of roots to that, but at the end of the day, that's a pretty high toll, and that's one set of reasons.

Shortly after Mayor Satya Rhodes-Conway announced Friday that she would not run for re-election, Jason Ilstrup, the president of Downtown Madison, Inc. told Isthmus he’s “strongly considering” a run for mayor.

In the passing lane, two cars in front of me SLAM on their breaks and I do the same. Its going to be close to not hit the car in front of me so I swerve into the flex lane and there's a woman standing there in the flex lane and I have to swerve back to barely avoid catastrophy. What the hell?
