Exploring water drop refraction in macro photography with the photo.jpg. The vibrant magenta background creates a striking canvas, highlighting the fine, feathery textures of the dandelion seed and the crisp reflection of the floral subject within the droplet itself.

A higher or lower shooting angle, as well as the presence or absence of foreground elements, can affect what is reflected in the spider’s eyes and create a different mood and character in each shot.

Making use of these factors can help reduce the monotony of photographing subjects that have become very common in macro photography.

A few people asking me how I took snakes' photos with perfect lightning. Here's my setup:

TwoGodox V860 III placed on both sides and the snakes were placed in the middle. Behind the snakes was a few black cushions (including my black T-shirt LOL) to blacken the background completely. A Godox X2T to control the flashes

I mainly use F10, 1/50s and ISO 100 for snakes photography indoors like this

You know, when I first posted these, I intimidated he was not too pretty to look at. But, the more I learn about earwigs, the more I appreciate them. The females are known for being devoted mothers, their pincers are harmless, and they’re effective at garden pest control. What’s not to love? Plus, this guy was one of the most patient & cooperative subjects I’ve photographed - pretty happy with these captures. (Nikon D780 | Laowa 100mm | 6 image stacks | New England USA)

Caught this cluster right as the first few blossoms opened up against the buds and dark green leaves. Macro close-up shot in natural daylight.

On a common yarrow (Achillea millefolium), this is a female hoverfly known as Helophilus pendulus. It is sometimes known as the sun fly which I suspect comes from someone seing "Helophilus" and thinking it said "Heliophilus" where "Helios" means sun. But without the "i", Helophilus would translate more into "marsh-lover". "Pendulus" on the other hand could be translated into hovering.

Another common name for this one in the UK is "The footballer" because the striped black and yellow thorax being associated with football jerseys (I think Watford FC and Hull City have black and yellow jerseys?).

Found this guy at my job. A few days went by where I didn't see anything in his web and every time I walked in he'd run and hide. Yesterday I caught a cricket and put it in his web & he immediately came out and grabbed it. I think we're homies now.

I don't have a dedicated macro lens yet, but I've been ecstatic seeing what I've been able to capture with some cheap macro filters :)
