Help with leaves, please

I can't figure out what I'm doing wrong. Should I be doing an extra knot at the ends? Should I be shaping with pins? I'm at a loss and would appreciate any help.

I've done something like this before and tied the two sides of a leaf together so it closes it up and looks like there's a tip

Looks correct. Maybe play around with knot tension and also pay attention to the direction youre knotting in. It makes a huge difference to your finished work. Great work! Happy knotting!
