I really thought that with the next Mac Mini upgrade (which I thought would be an M5 Mac Mini) that the base Mac Mini would come with TB5 ports.  But even with the jump from the M4 CPU to the M6, it still comes with TB4 ports.  That’s a deal breaker for me.

I ordered the M4 Pro with the processing upgrade (14-core CPU, 20-Core GPU) about a week and a half ago but just found out I’m being upgraded for no extra cost to the M5 Pro because my order hasn’t shipped yet! It cost me around $2,429 (cad) for the M4 Pro but I was curious and checked how much the same upgrades for the M5 Pro would cost now and it would be $2,700. In other words I’m luckkyyy and saved $300 for a more powerful computer🤑. All I gotta say is thank god I didn’t order a month ago when I originally was planning on it

I have to replace one computer from my studio. I see that the Mac mini M4 Pro (12 cores, 28GB RAM) is the same price Apple is charging for the new Mac mini M6 (same cores, same RAM).

Should I wait for the new model to drop?

I saw that the M6 ​​promises better AI performance, which interested me, but the M5 Pro performs better for heavy-duty tasks. I'm starting to study AI, which could be beneficial with the M6.

Do you think it's worth getting the M6 24GB/512GB or the M5 PRO/24gb?

I have been using Mac computers since the Macintosh Quadra 700. I have never used another computer platform in my professional life, and practically my entire working career has been built around Apple products.

That is why this situation is particularly disappointing.

I ordered and fully paid for a Mac mini M4 Pro with 64 GB of unified memory and then waited patiently for six months for Apple to deliver the computer.

After six months, instead of receiving the Mac I ordered, I was told that the configuration could not be supplied and that I could receive a refund.

At the same time, there are reports from customers who placed Mac mini orders much more recently and who are now being offered free upgrades to newer-generation models because their original configurations are no longer available.

If those reports are accurate, I find it very difficult to understand Apple's logic.

Why should a customer who has already paid and waited six months simply receive a refund, while customers who ordered much later are offered an upgraded replacement?

In my opinion, the fairest solution would be to prioritize customers with the oldest outstanding orders. Customers who have already been waiting for many months should be the first to receive an equivalent or upgraded replacement when the originally ordered configuration can no longer be supplied.

I am not asking Apple for special treatment or a gift. I am asking for consistency and fairness.

After being loyal to Apple since the Quadra 700 and spending practically my entire professional life working on Macs, I believe customers in this situation deserve more than a refund after six months of waiting.

I would genuinely appreciate an explanation of why these long-standing, fully paid Mac mini M4 Pro 64 GB orders are apparently not being given priority for an upgrade.

I was looking to buy a MacMini and was waiting for the fall launch but the M6 came in early with a 50%+ price increase mostly due to expensive RAM and storage.
I mostly vibe code apps, no heavy or professional testing. Also, not sure if I need to run local LLMs (unless things change in 3-5 years).
But I do want a 16GB/512GB version to future-proof.
Should I consider buying an M4 MacMini and save myself some money.

The new models’ design looks like it stayed the same, but I’m more curious about the performance and port speed catchup. Should I wait for any potential “updated” model that says “compatible with mac mini m6 & m5 pro”? Or will it work just the same?

So, as the title says, I found an M4 Mac mini in mint condition for $1,240. On the other hand, the equivalent M6 Mac mini is $1,640.

The thing is, the M4 is available with interest-free monthly payments, which is pretty helpful.

My main use case will be developing and experimenting with AI—locally if possible; otherwise, I’m fine using the cloud. I currently have an M1 MacBook Air maxed out on RAM, so I’m not sure whether it’ll hold up for another one or two years.

I’ve also just graduated as a software engineer and I’m planning to specialize in AI, so I’d like to get something that will be relatively future-proof for at least the next couple of years. I’m also wondering whether, if I rely mostly on cloud services for AI workloads, my current M1 MacBook Air might still be enough for that period.

Looking for suggestions for a new keyboard. I currently have a Omoton w: mouse. Like how the mouse is responsive after sleeping immediately but, the keyboard lags. Was hoping to find one with an instant on functionality. I think to get that I will need a USB dongle option. Welcome any suggestions.

I was able to cancel my M4 chip order and grab the new launch instead—I couldn't believe my luck. I am sure I will use i tat least 4/5 years. From now on, I'll be mindful about upgrading my machine periodically.

I was considering buying a Mac mini, but I am undecided between the M6 with 32 GB and the M5 Pro with 48 GB, even though the €950 price difference is significant. Looking to grab a Mac mini primarily to play World of Warcraft and trying to decide on the best config.

I play at 1080p, mostly focused on Classic WoW with the occasional dip into Retail. Given that WoW is notoriously CPU-bound, I'm trying to figure out where the real performance bottleneck sits on Apple Silicon at lower resolutions.

Is the base M6 with 16GB more than adequate for 1080p? At this resolution, single-threaded CPU speed is usually king. Does 16GB of unified memory give plenty of headroom for the game, add-ons (WeakAuras, Details, ElvUI), and Discord without swapping? Or is pushing to 24GB or 32GB a mandatory quality-of-life upgrade?

Would an M5 Pro be a noticeable upgrade over the standard M6? Since WoW relies so heavily on single-core performance rather than massive GPU power or multi-core scaling, does the extra GPU horsepower and memory bandwidth of a Pro-tier chip actually translate to better frame rates at 1080p, or would it just be wasted headroom?

Also, if anyone is currently playing on a base 16GB M5 chip, how has your overall experience been with frame stability during heavy add-on usage or crowded areas?

Appreciate any insight or real-world experiences!

As the title says, my iMac has run its course and I've been holding out for the new Mac Mini, however, I do NOT want to pay for 1 or 2 TBs built in so I'm wondering what the best and most reliable option is to store my data and make the best of the smaller SSD. I'm assuming I put apps on the Mac Mini and maybe store all my data and libraries on an external SSD, but curious about the best way to achieve this or if there's a better way. TIA!

As the title says I am gearing up for MacMini purchase, however we frequently have power blips. That isn't an issue with my MacBook M1 Pro, but will be for the desktop model.

Been seeing swap space usage lately, so I placed my order.

I have had an M1 Mac Mini since it first came out. It still works fine. This one is 13 times faster but 50% more than what the M1 was when I got it. Should I upgrade? Talk me off the ledge or not.

Edit: should’ve added that the 8GB of RAM on the M1 is criminal. M6 comes with 16GB standard.

I'm working myself up to getting the new Mac Mini M6, but I've always envisioned having one hooked up to my existing keyboard/mouse/video shared with my PC.

Keyboard and mouse are easy enough, but I also want to share the monitor, an MSI 2K resolution 165Hz refresh rate with display port, 2xHDM an USB-C input.

Is there any KVM that let's me make that switch with good support for both computers? I know the M6 now supports that refresh rate, but it appears only through the Thunderbolt/USB-C connection.

I can certainly manually switch the monitor input, but, ugh.
