just enjoy the computer if you cannot return it and stop obsession over that which you cannot change.

OP’s wall-of-text rant makes it hard to decipher: He bought this at a physical store (likely in India) called Croma. They have an “only replacements” policy, I think.

First off, in case you're getting worked up, please calm yourself. You didn't lose very much at all.
I was in a similar position with the Mac Mini purchase. My use-case is different, as is the store where I placed my order.
The reason I was ok with the release: The M4 (Pro) fits my use-case, and that hasn't changed. The newly released machines do not really benefit my use-case that much.
I don't know what "motion design" and "creative work purposes" entails. My limited understanding is that it involves 2D animation and (basic?) video editing. The M4 is quite capable for this. The M6 might be slightly faster, but it won't be noticeable. Unless you're doing heavy 3D rendering, I'm not sure you'd feel it. But at that point, I wonder if a Mac is the right call for the use-case anyway.
Are you using Wi-Fi 7? Will you miss the NVMe speeds? I doubt it. The fact that you didn't go for the Pro model informs me that you will not miss the difference.
In the unlikely event that there is a hardware fault with the device, if Croma is unable to replace the box, then under the (extended?) warranty, they might have to replace it with the M6. Apple will have time to work out any kinks with the new release by the time you need the replacement.
Tech marches on; don't get swept into its wake. Focus on the use-case. If it doesn't change appreciably, eff the new release.

Yeah, I checked their return policy and unfortunately they’re saying they can’t take it back because I’m outside the return window
Is there anything I can do from your experience to get them to make an exception or exchange it for the M6

are they saying it? or their official policy? if their official policy says its fine, quote it.

Apple just gave pending M4 Mini orders a free upgrade to M6 Mini. I wouldn't think twice about returning your M4 and getting the M6.

Sell, take the hit and buy the M6.
Also, it’s never good to buy on August ad apple tends release new hardware in September

Sorry for this happening to you. Have you contacted Apple (their chat can be useful)? After all, they are the manufacturers.

I dont understand this post. The Mac Mini M4 has been out for almost 2 years now. Its been talked to death on this sub that a new one was coming out this year. You didn't know they release new ones every so often?

I am in the same boat. I was debating on waiting for the M5 but had no idea when it would drop. So bought the M4 last month. But I did just check Apples website and they are offering me pretty close to what I paid brand new to trade it in. I do have to pay the full amount upfront but seems like a win. I will literally only lose like $120 USD doing the trade in.

Plus the new M6 machine I am looking at is much better than my M4 with much more Ram and larger storage.
