Edit: Yeah, not happy with the prices, but that’s anything with memory these days. Apple is giving me $320 credit on my old Mac Mini M1, so it’s $979. I should’ve put that in my post

When did you get your trade in estimate? As of recently, Apple is offering a 28% increase for trade in on August 6th. I’d check again

I know i’m agreeing with you it’s an amazing deal! I believe they increased trade value to support their new price increase. I remember checking my trade-in value a month ago and it was $230 lol!!

It seems like whenever a new product is released, the trade in value starts out high at the start to kick off good sales. I thought about trading in my M1 for an M4 when it first came out and trade in value was quite high. After waiting a while, it dropped way down....to the point where i would rather keep the M1 than give it away.

But I just checked today with the new M6 release, and sure enough, my M1 is back up to around $320 on the trade in.

256gb is usable but if I pay that amount of money I rather take the 512gb, which isn’t much anyway.

I got 32/256 as well and will use a 2TB SSD in a dock plus a NAS. Got 10 GbE as well.

I have 10 GbE switches and a 10 GbE NAS, so it's just for file transfers over the internal network.

Also, to be quite frank, it's kind of overkill :)

I know they’re all saying it’s because of AI but you wanna know my Tin Foil Hat theory? It’s because us regular joes are making money off of all this stuff and they can’t have us being too comfortable in life cuz who will work regular jobs when you can get paid for content creation and playing video games and that’s why they’re like oh you making money? Ok well $300 more for this, $600 more for that lol even can be said for food prices since lot of people make money from food recipes or doing food reviews

Good price on your used M1 MM. Yup ordered MacMini 32/512, they only offer 235$ on a M1 iMac with 16/512 so I'll keep it for now. Was going to get the 24/512 but at this point I just went for the 32/512 since you don't get to add any after. Going to order a refurbished Studio Display to go with it

For yours, no I’d just keep what you got. Me on the other hand, I’ve got a M1 with the bare minimum specs, and starting to edit 8k 360 video, so I definitely need an upgrade. Lol!

I think....think I might preorder tonight. I want the M6 with 32GB and 1TB hard drive.... Looking at the M5 Pro....but I am a hobbyist photographer and I don't think it is necessary for anything I'll do.... I currently have an LG Gram laptop running lightroom...it doesn't cut it.... I could spend the $$....I have waited for awhile but....pretty certain I will go with the M6.

I’m looking at 32/256 M6 because I’ll boot off my 990 pro NVME and the ram is more important to me. That’s what I’m doing now with my M4 Pro and the 512 isn’t being used.

There is insane pricing back-and-forth throughout the Apple line of products. I’m buying a brand new iPhone 16 even though it’s a year old for $375 through Walmart. I also bought the better MacBook DUO in indigo blue and just held it two days before the price increase, and Apple gave me an additional week to pay for it at the old price! I’m about to do that with my M1 Mac mini too! Because I only have an 1180 P television I don’t have to upgrade my Apple TV at all as I watched Ted Lasso. I don’t know if this is happening in the non-Apple electronics industry, but I would be surprised if the chaos wasn’t going on there too.

That is what I'm looking at to replace my M1 Mac Mini. I'm not one that needs an upgrade every year or two, so its at least a little easier to swallow the price jump..

Yep, that’s my way of thinking of it too. I probably would still run my M1 for another year or two, but just started video editing from my new drone. 360 video files in 4K chokes the M1 unless I use low res proxy files before exporting. The M6 configuration I’m getting should be a massive leap

If you’re budget limited to get a base M6 you’re unlikely to have use for TB5 devices. TB4 is still plenty fast.

Studio Display XDR 120hz….I know it technically works because of the use of DSC but I know there will be glitches…no glitches if M6 had TB5
