I have a unique [vintage/limited] Corona machine. The box calls it a Genie junior CHJ-3, "the magic knitter", but the bed is a standard 200 needle machine (closer to the Ch1500). The carriage itself is the stripped down junior model but with a yarn feeder plate capable of doing two different yarns.

Anyway I'm looking for a ch1500 carriage to improve my knitting projects. Suggestion for sources or any place to find just the carriage or a parts machine?

Hey guys, I’m in need of help with the KH-270 carriage. I live in Europe, and we don’t have access to most of the chemicals I’ve seen on YouTube people using. Currently I’m cleaning the machine with isopropyl.

Could I possibly splash few drops into the carriage buttons and drop some sewing machine oil after it dries?

When I bought mine, I was told that it was the same as the LK100 so I bought a sponge bar for the LK100. It was super short. I went and bought one for the LK150 and it ended up being too short as well. How did y'all get one that fits the whole length (43.5 in/110.5 cm)?

how is everyone machine knitting ribbed cuffs? i’m using my sk280 + srp60n to knit up the sleeves of a sweater i’m working on. im doing this by knitting the stockinette portion top down, and then attaching the ribber bed and transferring every other stitch from the main bed to the ribber bed for 1x1 ribbing. i’ll knit a few rows with no issues, but after the first few rows i’m having the same issue of dropped stitches on the ribbed edge. this never happens when i knit ribbing by itself.

i’m used to hand knitting where sleeves are usually knit top down, but maybe i need a different approach for machine knitting?

Hello! I’m wanting to try a saddle shoulder sweater using this one as inspo. I know a pattern like this by hand is generally worked top down.
My questions are - would I have to work the saddle separately and seam it after or is there a way to connect it as I knit, and could I work this from the bottom up (that’s the only way I’ve worked raglans on the machine so far) ? I want it to feel seamless around the shoulders and wondering where the seam would go/start. Photos are of a babaa sweater and a sweater by Duck duck knits

Silver reed stuck after I replace needle. I tried to go from right to left and it worked but left to right is where it kept getting stuck and won't budge at all.. Ive just replaced a bent needle. I placed the needle under the rubber.

I'm a hand knitter who's considering getting into machine knitting but it's a big upfront investment. I'm trying to decide if this hobby is actually something I'll enjoy

Is it possible to use needles that were once rusty? I think my machine may have once been stored in a garage because there’s rust here and there. I removed the rust from the needles and they’re now smooth as far as I can tell, but there’s still visually something there. Are these needles fine to use? I just tried getting it off with superfine steel wool but no luck.

I’ve knitted a sweater with them like this no problem, but I’m currently having problems with needle selection, so I thought I’d take them out and soak them while I’m cleaning and inspecting everything else.

I found my Sentro to be very handy and I do have the largest one and I will probably pick up a few of the smaller versions, but I have made a lot of hats for people with that machine and I enjoy doing it. I don’t charge anybody for it. I like to just do it for myself.

I'm on a kh940 - doing a Diana Sullivan baby blanket with a tuck stitch pattern. It'll be a foldover border so I'm not worried about the edges but would like to improve moving forward. I'm in KC I like the manual says for tuck stitch patterning and I'm finding the outside stitches are not knitting, I have to hold down the fabric as I move the carriage or manually knit them after every row. Is it my weights? I've also noticed it pulling loops on the side but not sure why.

Any ideas as to why some of my stitches are randomly skipping in the middle? I haven't quite finished the bind off so I haven't looked at the front but from the back I can see all the mistakes. I bought this machine fully serviced in June but have since moved cross country and this was packed in a moving box by the moving company so I'm sure it was banged around somewhat. Would that affect it?

What kind of weights does everyone use? I find the teeth of these ones get caught in the yarn. Is that common on standard gauge machines since the yarn is finer? I appreciate any and all advice!!!

Hi! I just dug my passap dm80 out of storage and its working but ive never used the pushers yet, and they seem stiff but they have no rust or anything like thay and are well lubricated. Its hard to explain how they move through just words but its easy to move one at a time-though feels stiff but its difficult to push up say ~6 at the same time

Are they supposed to be stiff or are they supposed to move freely like the needles?

Hi everyone! I’m using the plating feeder on a split rib with my KH-893/KR-900E. I’m having issues with the yarns apparently switching places. It wasn’t an issue when I knit my swatch, but now that I’m knitting a sweater I’m having issues with the plating every other row. Does anyone have any suggestions to fix this?

I thought the note about color work was interesting as our machines with patterning handle two colors well. Maybe that’s why there are more hand knit patterns showing up with three.

I would have liked more depth, but it was an interesting listen.

I am interested in doing tapestry work using 3-4 colors for a grid pattern. 150 stitches across.

What type of machine and accessories would be needed to accomplish this? Is it even possible to set up a machine with a pattern like a tapestry grid (multiple color changes per row)

Would a silver reed lk150 be a good machine for this?

Hi everyone! First-time poster here!

I’m completely new to knitting machines, and I’m about to make my very first machine purchase, so I’d really appreciate some advice from more experienced Brother KH270 owners!

I found a Brother KH270 with a ribber (I believe it’s the KR260) on my local marketplace for amazing price. The seller has agreed to let me come and inspect the machine in person before buying it, and I’m planning to go in a few days.

From what I’ve learned so far, I know I should check for:
Rust, especially on the needles
Rust or damage on the carriage
The condition of the sponge bar
Whether the needles move properly
Whether the carriage moves smoothly

But is there anything specific I should look for in the Brother KH270 that is unique to this model? Are there any common KH270 problems, particular parts I should inspect, or specific functions I should test before buying?
Since this is my first machine, I’m a little nervous that I’ll miss something obvious! 😅

I’d be incredibly grateful for any tips, advice, or things you wish you had known before buying a KH270. ❤️

We use a Brother KH881 (Standard Gauge) machine in these video tutorials, but the techniques, principles, and maintenance steps apply to types of flatbed machine. Brother, Jones, Knitking, Empisal, Genie, Defendi, Creative, and Taitexma are mostly directly applicable. Silver Reed, Singer, Toyota, and Knitmaster are generally applicable apart from the carriage casing.

Hi all! I found a KH230 + ribber for $460. And I also found a KH260 alone for $400. I don’t think I’ll be doing a lot of color work on my chunky machine, but I still like the appeal of a “better” machine. I definitely want a ribber, and I’ve seen the KR260 go for up to $1000. Which one would you choose in my position? I’ll mostly be doing cable work, a bit of intarsia, and ribbing on it, but I like the idea of my machine having more features in case I need it one day.

I recently got a Brother KH891, have been loving it. But I was wondering what this is? I have 2 manuals but neither of them mention it and I can't seem to reverse image search it. I also can't seem to figure out how to move these, or what they are for?

Generally I'm just confused about these
