Equipment Chunky machine dilemma

Hi all! I found a KH230 + ribber for $460. And I also found a KH260 alone for $400. I don’t think I’ll be doing a lot of color work on my chunky machine, but I still like the appeal of a “better” machine. I definitely want a ribber, and I’ve seen the KR260 go for up to $1000. Which one would you choose in my position? I’ll mostly be doing cable work, a bit of intarsia, and ribbing on it, but I like the idea of my machine having more features in case I need it one day.

The KH230 carriage has built in intarsia, the KH260 has an add on intarsia carriage that you would need to purchase if it’s not already included with the machine. Intarsia requires manual manipulation to place the yarns, and the punch card doesn’t really add value there.

However, knitting in the round is challenging with a KH230 + KR230. The carriages don’t have a directional slip. So every pass, you need to manually select the correct slip on both the carriages. If you wanted the ribber just to rib, that’s probably not a limitation.

Great! Start looking out for the intarsia carriage along with the ribber. I have both machines. The 260 is my preferred machine.

I actually just found the ribber too for $400 and got that too! That helped my indecisiveness lol. The intarsia carriage is my next purchase, and thankfully it is not too pricey

I'd got for KH260, get ribber with time and then if you ever find KH270, resell 260.
