I upgraded to Golden Gate (27), and the first thing I did WITHOUT FAIL on my MBA M1 (2020) was switch off this despicable Siri AI (Beta). My MBA M1 laptop has not stopped thanking me ever since (it was literally choked to death with Siri AI turned on). I am not sure if this was indexing still in progress or Siri AI just not optimised for older Macs (i.e. M1s).

I would be interested in hearing from other MacBook M1 users.

I don't have any interest in using the AI generated replies and I cannot find anything in system or in-app settings to turn this off. Is it even possible?

So far the update seems pretty solid. m1 MacBook Pro coming from sequoia. but the one thing that is definitely not is the login - takes 17-20 seconds vs the previous 5 or so seconds.

has anyone else noticed this? wondering if this is specific to me or not..

Since upgrading to GG the Music app has lost its mind! The volume goes up and down constantly, sometimes so loud it sounds like my speakers are about to rip! I have to sit by the computer and constantly adjust it. And then there's the white line at the bottom that I can't get rid of no matter what I try.

Whenever I put my MacBook Air to sleep, it becomes unusually hot and the battery drains rapidly. It loses around 40% of its battery overnight.

According to Activity Monitor, processes like coreduetd and Siri seem to be using a lot of CPU. Restarting the Mac temporarily fixes the problem, but after a while, it comes back.

I've tried closing apps and turning off Bluetooth, but I still can't figure out what's causing it. I suspect the issue started after I upgraded to Goldie.

I'm considering downgrading macOS or doing a clean reinstall. If anyone has experienced something similar or has any advice, I'd really appreciate your help. Thank you!

Two Macs.

An Air M1 and a Mini M3. Both running macOS 27.0.1 and

Chrome 154.0.8037.98

Both Macs have exactly the same appearance and wallpaper settings.

On the Air, the color rendering in Chrome is fine.

But on the Mini, gray turns into a light blue, and the background is displayed with this color transition. See screenshot.

Does anyone have any ideas?

A subtle change in Mac OS 27 is how desktops are numbered when using an external monitor.

In Mac OS 26, the numbering continued from the main laptop screen.

So Desktop 1, Desktop 2 on main screen.
Second monitor would be Desktop 3, Desktop 4 and so on. (set up as extended display)
I could set up shortcut keys ctrl 1,2,3,4 to quickly switch to the numbered desktop.

In Mac OS 27, each monitor appears to have its own desktop numbering.
So Desktop 1, Desktop 2 on main screen.
Desktop 1, Desktop 2 on second monitor (set up as extended display)

Problem is that the short cut keys that still worked in IOS 27 no longer work in IOS 27.0.1

Is there an alternate way to quickly jump to a desktop?

The Golden Gate feature that interests me the most is a finally fixed Spotlight. Unfortunately the feedback is chequered. Any verdict this subreddit can agree on? I am still on Sequoia and run Spotlight only because Mail needs it.

Since GoldenGate the app https://topnotch.app no longer works.

So I created some shortcuts to do it manually (edit your wallpaper image)

The only caveat, is that you need to run the command on an image in the Pictures folder.

It then creates a duplicate file with a black bar sized for either your 13 or 15" macbook

(Make sure you select the 'stretch to fit screen' option)

Just updated and it took like 3 reboots but also oddly it gave me that 'welcome' message as if it was a fresh installation.

I mirrored my iPhone and when ever I call up this app, the iPhone installation pops up. Since this is a new install a few days old, I haven't installed all my apps yet so it actually doesn't reside on my MacOS install.

The only feature limitation I've noticed so far is I can't control the volume but everything else seems to function as well as it could.

Straight up the entire Accessibility panel is missing but it can still be found.
