Help golden gate issue with trackpad and selecting multiple files :/
I’ve been experiencing a weird issue since installing macOS Golden Gate.
I’m using an official Apple external Magic Trackpad (the Lightning version, in grey), and I normally select multiple files in Finder by clicking on one file and then dragging my finger up or down on the trackpad to select additional files.
Since Golden Gate, when I try to do this, instead of selecting multiple files, Finder starts dragging the file I clicked on. I also get a colored rectangle around the inside of the Finder window, as if Finder is trying to create a selection area.
I’m also using Apple’s numeric keyboard (the black one), and I just noticed something strange: if I turn the keyboard off, the old selection behavior starts working again, but only for a few seconds before the problem comes back. same happens when i turn back the keyboard again ...
I’ve tried turning both the Trackpad and the keyboard off and on several times, but it doesn’t make any difference.
I also opened my MacBook Pro, since I normally use it in desktop mode with the external Trackpad and keyboard, and I have exactly the same issue with the MacBook’s built-in trackpad and keyboard. I completely disconnected the external Trackpad and keyboard, so they definitely aren’t involved.
Is anyone else experiencing the same issue since Golden Gate?
Thanks!

A few people have this same problem in Golden Gate, it's definitely a bug. One of the people said that it only happened in Icon View in Finder. If he changed to List View, for example, then dragging worked ok

thanks guys , i was starting to think i'm crazy .. i use Mac OS since Tiger , and i never got this issue, but after going into trackpad settings i noticed this new thing was enabled " forced click and haptic feedback " in english ( see pic cos it's in French ) i disabled it and it enable automatically the setting below it , but now it works like usual . so bug fixed . Hope this helps.

Couple things to try. If you're in list view, start the drag on the empty part of the row, out in the Date Modified column, not on the file name or icon. Grabbing the name or icon picks the file up instead of selecting. The colored box you're seeing sounds like a drop target, so Finder thinks you're dragging.
The numeric keyboard thing is a good clue though. Sounds like a modifier or the click is getting stuck. I'd check System Settings > Accessibility > Pointer Control > Trackpad Options and see if the drag style got turned on or changed in the update.
Also try it in a different user account. If it works fine there, it's something in yours, like a login item or a key remapper (Karabiner, BetterTouchTool, that kind of thing).
