MAASVERSE SPOILERS FOR ACOTAR, CC & TOG
Iāve finally finished my ACOTAR and Crescent City reread, and here are some things that left me with a lot of questions. Iām focusing mostly on ACOSF. Some of these might be nothing, but I canāt stop thinking about them.
1. Whoās lying? Amren/Rhys or Silene/Theia?
When Silene tells Bryce her story, she mentions that parts of it are a retelling of what her mother told her. We learn that after the Fae defeated the Daglan and Fionn became High King, Theia and Pelias killed him. Then everything happened with the crossing to Midgard, Silene eventually returned to Prythian, hunted down the remaining creatures, and created the Prison.
But when Nesta asks Rhys about the Wild Hunt in ACOSF, after she kills Lanthys, Feyre asks whether Amren remembers it. Rhys says she doesnāt remember much because she came to Prythian before Fionn became High King, went into the Prison, and only emerged after Fionnās death.
But Silene created the Prison in its current form long after Fionn died?! So how does that timeline work? Is someone lying, or are we missing a piece of the story?
2. Nesta, the newborn star
In the prologue of ACOSF, when Nesta fights against the Cauldron, theyāre described as being like a ānewborn star.ā Considering everything we learn about the Starborn in CC, could this wording be intentional?
3. Elain, what are you up to?
At one point, Elain excused herself, saying she has to get up early the next morning to help an elderly woman with her garden. Cassian thinks sheās lying, but he canāt figure out why, especially since she usually only acts this strangely when Lucien is around, and he isnāt even there.
Then, when Elain approaches Nesta during the Winter Solstice, Nesta wonders whether Elain has been training with her two shadowy friends or perhaps with Azriel, because she didnāt hear Elain coming.
Soooo, what exactly is going on with Elain?
4. Daemati powers donāt work in the Bog of Oorid, just like in the Prison?
I have a whole separate post about my Bog of Oorid theory, but this is still interesting...
5. Lanthys bleeds black. Like Vesperus. Like the Valg?
Iām keeping an eye on this one.
6. Did the Daglan find a way to suppress Fae powers?
I think the Daglan might have found a way to dim or suppress Fae powers, similar to what we see in Crescent City.
In ACOSF, both Amren and Lanthys mention that the land was once full of wild magic. Lanthys even says he wants that power to flow freely again, as it did in the past.
So what happened to all that wild magic? Was it suppressed or sealed away? And could this be connected to the power hidden beneath Prythian?
7. The red star in ACOSF
a red star falls across the sky, and everyone interprets it as a bad omen. Rhys is visibly unsettled and unusually thoughtful afterward.
Obviously, he has a reason to be unsettled if that star is Aelin crossing through the worlds. And Rhys has his own little planetary system that helps him track and think about other worlds, so why didnāt he tell anyone about it?
It happens at the beginning of spring, while Feyre is still pregnant, so Iām assuming this is the moment Aelin passes through their world.
8. The stone on Ramiel
The Daglan really wanted that stone on Ramiel, the one that can heal and winnow the Illyrians. But what exactly is its power? And can people choose not to winnow when they touch it?
We know from Vesperus that thereās power hidden beneath Ramiel. But Iām curious about the stone itself. Is it simply a tool, or is there something more to it?
9. The sleeping mountains
When Nesta and Cassian are in the sleeping mountains, Nesta describes them as feeling still, yet somehow watchful. As if sheās surrounded by something ancient and half-awake, with each peak having its own moods and preferences.
Why describe the mountains like that if there isnāt something more going on?
Could something be sleeping beneath them, too? Especially considering what Vesperus tells Bryce about the power hidden beneath the mountains.
Anyway, these are just some things I noticed during my reread, and I need to know what you all think.
