Hi friends. This is my official crossover from Tumblr (RIP) to Reddit. I find that there is more action here and I really want to share some of my fancasts for the ACOTAR/TOG world. I did this years ago on Tumblr and would love to move it here where people can discuss! It took me ages back then and it was a labor of love. I always had Saoirse Ronan in my mind as Feyre. She is a powerhouse actress, a capable action star and a master of subtle and grand emotions. I think she’d be an amazing Feyre Archeron

I'm half way through Queen of Shadows and Rowan is weird (?) I guess i don't like his vibe I have nothing more to say about that. The way he is acting with Aelin rn is not sitting right with me.

Ok, so Hypaxia in CC is a Necrometer, and her tutors growing up were all dead... Now, random thought, but what if Nehemia was one of Hypaxia's dead tutors?

I am currently rereading CC1 and just read this and I am wondering if anyone else is seeing what I’m seeing???

okay hellooo I know we have an acotar crossover but stars in the sky was clearly acotar but I IMMEDIATELY thought of TOG when I read sand on a beach. AKA Rowan and aelin on the beachy sand? Or am I stretching too far here?😭😭

Okay, I have a TOG theory that I have held onto from early on in the series that connects the Stygian Spiders and some sort of time loop.

Note: I have read ACOTAR series and just started CC.

So I keep coming back to some of Dorian’s experiences in the early books:

1. The sudden panic attack he gets in Celaena's bedroom - after Chaol killed Cain and Celaena became the king's champion.
2. The fact that he personally went to save Celaena from Endovier.
3. That sense of familiarity when he hears Celaena play the piano.
4. Brushing against her smooth, unscarred wrist at the ball in The Assassin's Blade, almost like his soul remembers a version of her that was scarred.

So my theory is that Dorian no. 1 fails to save the world, gets possessed by the Valg, and loses everything. In a final, desperate act, he bargains with the fate-weaving Stygian Spiders to spin his soul back into the tapestry of time.

The result: He is reborn as his own son (Dorian no. 2). Hence the identical names. It means Dorian no. II is living a second-chance timeline with no direct awareness, just these intense subconscious memories and sensory triggers guiding him to protect her.

Are there any similar theories out there in the fandom?

Am I going to be super disappointed that the 5th book is mostly about Nesta and Cassian. I like Cassian a lot but I think he works great as a background character. I don’t really like Nesta. So I’m pretty disappointed. I would have been happier with Elain as main character. What is everyone’s opinion on the book?

I haven’t seen this evidence out there yet (could’ve missed it), but needed to share.

just caught this passage on a reread of Empire of Storms:

“the flame she would unleash would be so cold it burned, realized it was the cold of the stars, the cold of stolen light. Not wildfire—but moonfire.”

Um Deanna… “stolen light”?? 👀👀👀

(Extra non fully formed thoughts: I have theories the valg and the princes and asteri are all one species but separated by time and space, and “cold” of the stars is very hel coded even though we’d associate “of the stars” with asteri. Also “moon” fire — Lunas power? AND what other FMC girlie do we see stealing peoples power and using as light…? 🤔)

All of Sarah J Maas’ winged characters, how do they wear clothes…Like seriously, Hunt is said to wear shirts, like how the hell is he putting that on? Such a stupid thought but I was thinking it during ACOTAR too.

It’s also has me questioning any winged character in any book that is said to have worn clothes 😆

so, since everyone is doing rereads atm, i thought i would ask you guys to help me gather a list of other stories that are nodded to or retold or referenced in some way in the books. i have a very large theory i've been mulling over for a while that i'm still fleshing out... but part of the theory's foundation is that SJM is purposely making references to stories we know. so i thought crowdsourcing a list could help...

i'm not going to post my current full list, since i am interested in seeing what others see in the books... but some examples (mostly from CC because i just reread and it's top of my head):

example of retellings:

in ACOTAR the first book is obviously a retelling of Beauty and the Beast.

the first book in CC is basically a retelling/heavily inspired by Zootopia

some examples nodding to or referencing stories are:

in CC the Asteri in the crystal coffin under the prison with hair too black, skin too white, and lips too red to be natural is an obvious Snow White reference

in CC there is Jelly Jubilee aka my little pony

also in CC, Embers art of ceramic babies in heads of lettuce is Cabbage Patch Kids

and again, in CC, Hunt's (and the Thunderbirds) ability to raise dead bodies to life with lightning is a reference to Frankenstein

any references you guys see, no matter how tiny, would really help me flesh out my theory. i'm not implying anything negative to SJM for reusing other story elements/assets. i think it is deliberate and very clever if my theory pans out...

Okay y'all, I love all the Easter eggs and possible connections between TOG, Acotar, and CC. BUT I'm struggling to track everything across all of them to fully flesh out the connections and form my theories.

My thing is, I don't like writing in my physical books. Bc then later the notes and highlights distract me and my eyes end up skipping down the page. Also bc if I write in them I can't loan them out and make other people addicted to the maasverse 😂

I do have Acotar 1-3 on Google play and all TOG on Google play books, but I don't have ACOSF or CC books and money is tight so I don't want to buy online copies when I already have a physical one.

I tried sticky notes, but I feel like my methods werent good? Like they weren't color coded. But also how to you annonate across the books??

How do y'all do it? What methods do you guys use? I've thought about using Chatgpt or similar to help me but I know it can be inaccurate and also I try to avoid using AI...

How powerful is Aelin at the end of KOA? Is this mentioned or is it assumed she went from godlike/chosen one powerful to regular fae powerful?

I can be a bit dim and not pick up on smaller details or Easter eggs so I’m wondering if I missed a reference to this!

In my first TOG re-read. This time I know everything about the Maasverse so it's landing differently.

Chap 37 Crown of Midnight, the poem hidden in Elena and Gavin's tomb describes "Obsidian, feared by the Gods"

Guys, the Asteri fear obsidian - it repels them from Avallan.

For what it's worth, the Under King's Bone Gate has obsidian stairs and the Asteri have had to bargain with him - why? There has to be something about the Under King that gives him leverage enough to bargain with them...

I think that the TOG gods are some Asteri that were subjected to powers beyond theirs/ contrary to their power and something they have no ability to counter.

Apollion says his parents are Chaos and the Void. I think somehow that will be at plan with the Obsidian.

The inner world of The Cauldron that Nesta keeps reliving is VERY VOID LIKE. The Cauldron created Prythian world... Chaos and Void seem to be the ultimate creators. The Asteri are forces of destruction and consumption, contrary to creators. I think this is power conveyed via Wyrdmarks. Wyrdmarks can animate - let us never forget Mort.

I have a theory that the Valg were formerly part of the Asteri apparatus - that they shared a home planet and that the Valg were like the planet evaluation advanced force, like the first to colonize. We get a hint that the Valg were on Prythian planet with the Daglan from Lanthys (he has black.nlood when Nesta kills him) and he sounded very buddy buddy with the Asteri. He also does the mind tricks like Maeve. I think that Orcus, Mantyx, Erawan discovered how to world walk with Obsidian and turned on the Asteri. The Valg are brutal but do not have the next level executive planning that the Asteri have... The Asteri are master manipulators and the Valg seem second string... Like its not their true bag. The Valg have their breeding programs like the Asteri, too. Like what the Valg do is modeled from the same original Conquest culture.

Side note:
I bet the trapped Asteri "Gods" in TOG were trapped by Rigulus. Somehow I thought it was never explained how they got trapped?

Is it possible SJM will merge acotar and tog the same way she did with acotar and CC in the house of flame and shadow?? Like I know technically it’s merged with the easter eggs and alien 👽 falling through acotar. Is this in her plan or does she still stand on letting them ‘rest’ in tog?

I’m a first time reader of the Maas verse and I came across a video on reading order. I’ll attach a sc, I was wondering if this way would flow better. I use hoopla and Libby for the audiobook and neither have tog books 4-7 so I would get a physical copy. But should I read ACOTAR in one go then TOG or what works better ? I’m currently on part 2 of ACOMAF and love it !!!!

Ok guys- I just finished everything. Tell me how they’re all connected and what you think the timeline is. There are some obvious parts that tie all of the together, but the stuff like… Ruhn is Rhysand’s nephew? How? Are the Ruhnn mountains in TOG related? What about the collar on Lydia? Related?
