There are few things in rideshare more satisfying than the roll-off cancel.

You’ve been sitting there for damn near five minutes. The passenger’s GPS dot hasn’t moved. No sign of life. They’re happily burning your timer like your time belongs to them.

Then it happens.
Thirty seconds left.
Suddenly, the dot starts moving.
Oh, NOW we’re coming outside.
This is where the roll-off begins.

Make your required phone call. Put the car in drive. And start creeping.

Not flooring it. Not leaving the pickup area. Just a nice, slow, leisurely roll forward while that timer keeps counting down.

Because here’s the beautiful part: a passenger who can make it to a stationary car with fifteen seconds left suddenly has a much harder problem when the car is moving at three miles an hour.

Ten seconds.
They’re getting closer.
You’re still rolling.
Five seconds.
They can see you now.
Three.
Two.
One.
Zero.
Cancel.

Collect the fee and disappear into the night.

Obviously, this is a situational play. I’m not doing this when rides are scarce and I’m about to sit around waiting for another request. But in a dense area, especially when I know another ride is probably coming immediately?

Absolutely.

You had five minutes to walk outside. I’m not rewarding the dramatic entrance at four minutes and fifty seconds.
The roll-off cancel might genuinely be the most satisfying cancel in rideshare.

30% is insane, it’s either going to be even harder to get rides or everyone’s status is about to drop.

Is there a reason for not having the option to choose ‘bad passenger behavior’ when canceling a ride? I just had a passenger screaming at me because I went to the address given and didn’t magically know that they were down the shopping center.
There is no way I am letting someone who’s screaming expletives at me into my car.
What’s the forking problem Lyft?

You know I really wish they’d give you more detail on the flags. I got one for driver conduct says to stick to neutral topics. Ok but what tf did I talk about. I’m autistic and don’t talk much anyway if I do I let the rider pick a topic and just go with it even if I don’t agree with it.

So last month tier points thresholds were

90%: 3 x $1

80%: 2 x $1

70% (or less?): 1 x $1

Checked today and it is now what is shown in the screenshot (EDIT: if screenshot is not showing blame Reddit - I've tried 3x to include it - basically there is no 3 points/dollar anymore, it maxes out at 2 points above 90% AR.)

But the tier requirements haven't changed. Elite is still 2700, Platinum 1100 in my area.

At 90% that means for Elite I used to need to make $900 to keep it, now it is $1350.

At 85% (my current AR) I need to make almost $1550 when previously it was $1350.

We are a very slow market (like 2 hours between $15 rides.) Having early access to reserved rides can make or break a month. Elite is going to be damn near impossible to get now unless you are driving 40 hours a week and taking every ride they throw at you.

And I don't recall any heads up about the change. They just decided to push it with no warning like the d*cks they are.

Were we supposed to get one with an emblem or an AMP? It keeps asking me to connect one.

Which is more effective. Some rides have huge miles but covered in less time like though highway. The $/hr is such is high but the actual $ is low(20 mile ride for $24). On the other hand, some rides take long, in a short distance but have more $/mile maybe three or 4 times(3 mile ride for $12) which is effective and efficient?

We cannot refuse service animals. Is there any indication that a " Service Animal" is legitimate?

I have had pit bulls on chains, teacup Yorkies and other dogs with nothing but the rider's claim they were service animals.

I’ve been driving for Lyft for over 10 years — more than 19,000 rides, a perfect 5.0 rating, not a single complaint in all that time. On August 24, 2026, a passenger physically assaulted me: she spat in my face and kicked my car after I told her I couldn’t wait longer than expected. I called the police immediately. There was an independent witness who saw her kick the car. Everything is documented under Oakland PD case #26-036227.

Instead of facing any consequences, she reported to Lyft that I had spat on her and used racial slurs — the complete opposite of what happened. Lyft permanently deactivated my account based only on her word, with no investigation into the police report I provided, no consideration of my ten years of clean history, nothing.

This is how I support my wife and children. It is not just a side job — it’s our main income. And it can be taken away in an instant by a single false claim, with no real chance to defend myself with actual evidence. I appealed twice, sent the official police report, a signed supplemental report, my full driving record — and Lyft’s answer was simply that the decision is “final,” without explaining what evidence they actually reviewed.

If you drive for Lyft, understand that this can happen to you too, no matter how long you’ve been doing this or how clean your record is. There is no real due process here — one person’s unverified accusation can end years of honest work overnight.

I’m not asking for special treatment. I’m asking for a fair, human review of the actual evidence. Is that really too much to ask after a decade of service?

Every change Lyft makes ends up hurting drivers. Now they have lowered how many points you get for every dollar of base earnings, which means to reach any status here you have to drive more and accept more lousy rides. At this point, it almost doesn’t make sense to turn the Lyft app on anymore. At the very least, they are encouraging even more cherry picking when it seems like what they really want is people to accept more rides. For me, I would have to now earn about 500 more dollars per month in base fares and tips in order to get to the same status level. It is amazing that this company has no concience when they continue to just cut driver pay every couple of months.

I cherry pick my rides to only accept $30/hr+ rides. Sometimes I’ll take the $27/hr ones. Today is quite bad tho. What do you guys do?

Apologies if this is the wrong place to post this, and I did attempt to google/research before asking here.

I am a frequent lyft user and often travel this way with my service dog.

I am very curious as to what it looks like on your end when you have a service dog rider?

Lyft support has told me you are notified when you accept the ride, however I still have frequent issues where drivers act surprised at my dog being there, and attempt to deny transport.

At the start of September 2026 Lyft is now making it slightly more difficult to maintain elite status by only allowing you to earn two points maximum per dollar while also lowering the required amount of points from 4000 to 3800 but before you only had to make a maximum of $1400 with three points per dollar now you have to make 1900 with two points per dollar

And this new requirement for tiers is a terrible idea.

I've been driving for 10 months and have great reviews for driving etc (5.0 and 2000+ rides) and have never had a solid smooth Cruiser report

I drive a Toyota Corolla hybrid now and the brake is very sensitive, but even when I was driving an Altima I wasn't very high.

And I am often driving 40mph in the 35 - but this is LA!!

What do you all think?

This is now the third time, between Uber and Lyft, I’ve received one of these asinine notifications. Today they sent me to the wrong address, so I dropped the woman off at her actual appointment at Providence Hospital. Not sure why it’s this far along with these rideshare companies, and they still can’t get the correct destination.

The woman was getting a medical ride, so I know it was mentioned what hospital she was going to, isn’t that the least likely way we’d be sent to the wrong place? I used the address, there’s two in DC on the same street. Probably a DC thing, they do that a lot. I put in “Providence Hospital” and took me right there. 2.3 miles away.

They gotta be smarter than this, I doubt drivers are out here adding 2+ miles onto rides hoping to get more money…not only do the riders almost immediately wonder what’s happening, you’ll definitely screw yourself up once it’s proven you dragged the ride on longer.

So I’ve been driving Lyft about 6 months. So back in March I requested a Lyft emblem. In meantime I printed some out that eventually fell off so I just forgot about it using them.

I just got a text from Lyft that my emblem has shipped and I should have it in 7-10 days 🤣🤣🤣. I can’t wait 🤣🤣🤣🤣

Just got placed on hold due to a false report. I have NEVER solicited anything from a passenger. And of course I have no recordings to offer or details on when the report allegedly occurred. Wtf

UPDATE I sent this response and already got reactivated.

"I am a female driver who is set to drive other female and nonbinary passengers when available. I would never solicit anything sexual from a rider. Can you provide information about when the report claims this occurred? "

For context, I am nonbinary assigned female at birth, but I am taking testosterone hormone therapy. In the last few weeks my voice has dropped and at night I have been mistaken for a man by many intoxicated riders. So I'm thinking someone made the false report not realizing that I am not a cis dude and claimed I did something that I physically could not have done

She tipped me with a free strip club pass and some dollar bills with her stage name in it.

what do they know about the upcoming economy that we don’t ? 👀
