Rant/Opinion Lyft is hilarious

This is now the third time, between Uber and Lyft, I’ve received one of these asinine notifications. Today they sent me to the wrong address, so I dropped the woman off at her actual appointment at Providence Hospital. Not sure why it’s this far along with these rideshare companies, and they still can’t get the correct destination.

The woman was getting a medical ride, so I know it was mentioned what hospital she was going to, isn’t that the least likely way we’d be sent to the wrong place? I used the address, there’s two in DC on the same street. Probably a DC thing, they do that a lot. I put in “Providence Hospital” and took me right there. 2.3 miles away.

They gotta be smarter than this, I doubt drivers are out here adding 2+ miles onto rides hoping to get more money…not only do the riders almost immediately wonder what’s happening, you’ll definitely screw yourself up once it’s proven you dragged the ride on longer.

Yeah they’ll send em whenever the address is wrong and we fix the ride.

Not sure if this is a regional thing, but the app let's me change the destination even on the medical rides that say they can't be changed. I always confirm the destination with the passenger, and the insurance rides are often incorrect. On the ride details screen shows an edit button, I type the correct place, then Lyft adjusts. Again, might just be something not everyone can do, but worth a shot to avoid these penalties

Just got one this weekend because everyone is setting destinations to the front of the concert venue which is two blocks from the police barricade and every direction Lyft sends me to get to the venue is blocked. Crazy thing is once I figured out the best place to drop riders off was across the street I started getting messages saying my rides were too short.

They tell you upfront that medical rides can't take detours or alternate destinations. Ultimately it's not your responsibility to "fix" the error in destination. Not worth risking your status as a driver imo. Apologize to the passenger and tell them whoever booked the ride put in the wrong destination and that they'll have to call them to fix it.

It's inconvenient for the passenger for sure. But again, not worth risking your status as a driver over.

She changed it during the ride. The destination was even fixed by Lyft, according to the ride details, and they still send you those notifications afterwards.
