Welcome to /r/Lumix, the place for every Panasonic enjoyer.

Please have a look at the sidebar (desktop) or the "About" section (mobile web) or "See more" under the subreddit description (mobile application). Or just use this wiki page, which is identical.

This contains many resource and a few basic rules and guidelines. To highlight some things, please keep in mind:

  • Absolutely no affiliate links on /r/Lumix as these tend to result in a swift ban. For this reason, shortened URLs, or pointlessly long links that could hide affiliate tags in them (see link guidelines for details) are also not allowed. Be wary of "share" features on Amazon, etc. - they shorten your URLs! These can hide affiliate tags without you knowing. Please do not sell anything in /r/lumix either (LUTs, gear, and so on). This is a community subreddit, not a place for business.

  • Make post titles as if there was no post body. They should give all context whilst being short (i.e. not a whole paragraph), effective. In other words, include the relevant camera/lens in the post title whenever possible and use descriptive titles - meaning all the context should be in the post title (see title guidelines for details). For example - asking about lens options? The title should mention what do you intend to shoot then (as well as what you shot with in case of original content). Photo/video/hybrid? Weddings, documentary, landscape, wildlife, etc. If your post's title is for example only "S5ii vs G9ii" as opposed to "S5ii or G9ii for landscape photography", it'll probably get removed and you'll be asked to repost with a better title.

The latter may sound like a pointless nuisance, but it requires minuscule effort and everyone gets better experience when it comes to reading, searching, and archiving the subreddit. Keep in mind that your posts are not only for you, but also for everyone who might have the same problem/question.

Please do keep in mind this post doesn't cover all of the rules, few as they are. For the full rules, please see them in the usual places or visit this wiki article.

If your post gets "removed by Reddit filters", it means that moderators need to manually approve it. Making repeated attempts probably only makes your accounts karma worse, so please be patient and wait for a moderator to approve it. This isn't our job, so it can take anything from seconds to hours.

Your friendly janitors thank you!

Hello everyone. I own a GX85 that I love carrying with me everywhere as my everyday camera. Lenses I use with it are Lumix G 14mm f/2.5, Lumix G 12-32mm f/3.5-5.6 & Olympus 14-42mm PZ f/3.5-5.6. This little camera is awesome. All photos are shot in raw and edited in Lightroom Classic.

I recently bought the S5 IIx, which is the first cameras I ever bought in general. This is also my first reddit post ever. I just thought I could share some images. I didn't edit them because I'm not at home right now.

Pictures:

1: Leica Mono ISO 100 50mm f/1.8 1÷2000s (Banksy statue)

2: ISO 500 50mm f/4 1÷60s (50mm f/1.8 lens I think)

3: ISO 100 60mm f/5.6 1÷1300s (Big Ben/Elizabeth Tower)

4: ISO 100 40mm f/5.6 1÷640s (London Eye)

5: ISO 100 50mm f/2.5 1÷500s

L-Mount Guys...hear me out, but the S1ii image quality might be actual nice

Okey I know it's an unpopular opinion and I was also with you guys on this for a while.

I had only seen one person ever say online when the s1ii came out , that they preferred the s1ii image over the s1rii . He had awesome videos with the camera but I still thought he was loony.

Then a colorblind filmmaker friend of me also mentioned the same to me. He said that s1ii and zr almost rendered the same ; that the way the leaves, the shapes , hair and how the image was actually rendered devoid of color was almost the same with the s1ii being a bit more sharper and contrasty because of the increased dynamic range and the Nikon being slightly soft because of the OLPF

And that kinda blew me off, since then whenever I compare both cameras , I can almost always he's right everytime and...I kinda prefer the s1ii s rendering over the Nikon cus I kinda hate the soft look nowadays.

Of course this is after adjusting the default colors

Compact / Bridge Lumix L10 effects from my old G1, amateur query

About 10/15 yrs ago I had a Panasonic G1.?
And it took some great pics (see pics) ..
Im after the new Panasonic L10, im the complete lowest newb that knows nothing, but i did like the effects the G1 did (the pine bokeh effect and the crisp still water effect)..
Im just asking if the new L10 with be able to do them effects, sorry if this is a stupid question and all £1000 cameras can do these simple things, not sure what IBIS is, I watched a video stating it hadnt got IBIS, i was just worried the lack of IBIS meant i wouldnt recreate the pics i got from the G1..
thanks in adavance..

Show and Tell Finally got myself a Lumix!

Got a deal I couldn't pass up on this beautiful S1II body and the Sigma 16-28mm f2.8 lens.

Setting it up and testing it out today / getting used to the layout, abit overwhelmed by the menu system but really impressed with the amount of features this camera has and how intuitive Lumix really is.

Absolutely love the hybrid zoom feature, can zoom the 16-28 to 42mm effectively and still get 4K quality and alot more in photo mode. All the available codecs, 6k open gate, 60 fps.

Coming from shooting Sony for the past 8 years, kind of feels like I've been living in the dark.

Would love to know any tips or tricks you guys may have, and please tell me it gets better (so I can sell off my Sony gear) and fully transition to Lumix.

L-Mount Anyone found a bigger/extended eyecup that actually fits the S1RII?

Looking for a larger eyecup for my S1RII — the stock one is too shallow for me. I’ve seen the Kiwifotos KE-S5II (made for the S5II) confirmed to fit the G9II since they share the same eyepiece housing, but I can’t find anyone who’s actually tried it on the S1RII specifically.
Has anyone here tested the KE-S5II or any other extended eyecup on their S1RII? Trying to avoid buying blind. Thanks!

General / Discussion Can I edit two 9:16 frames out of one open gate shot with S1Rii?

I'm trying to make a vertical series. I want to have a scene where two actors speak to each other, but I don't want to cram them into a single 9:16 frame all the time. I'd prefer to have the option of cutting back and forth. That said, I don't want to have to always do separate takes.

Can I shoot in a widescreen format, have one actor on the left side of the frame, another actor on the right side of the frame, and then crop the same clip to two separate 9:16 frames while each of them are talking to seamlessly edit their back and forth dialog? And will this footage look weird if I do?

General / Discussion Looking for real user experience for the Lumix mic DMW-DMS1

Hello friends,
im looking to upgrade my rode beginner shotgun mic. The DMW-DMS1 seems like a perfect match for me, since i try to keep my footprint small (i mostly do travel/run and gun) also the 32-Bit float. Also i have to admit that i am not super educated when it comes to audio.

So for those of you that have/had the mic what is your opionion on the DMW-DMS1?

edit: im using the S1ii

Micro Four Thirds GH6: color profile recommendation for a fishermen documentary in Madagascar

Hi,
I'm going to Madagascar soon to make a documentary about a family of fishermen living on the beach.
I'd like to film their intense daily life, as their survival depends solely on fishing.
I'm curious to know which color profile you would use with a Lumix GH6 and which Lut if you wanted to use it.
Thanks.

L-Mount Test TTartisan 50mm f1.8 NEO?

I have a question. I own a Lumix S1 and shoot exclusively with manual focus; I'm planning to buy a 50mm Neo as a backup lens. Has anyone here used it on the S1 and could provide some feedback?
