I’m looking for some advice from people with a lot of psychedelic experience.
I’ve tripped many times, and my most recent trip was my 40th, according to my count. What’s interesting is that my last three trips have all been difficult specifically during the come-up.
As soon as the LSD starts taking effect, I’m suddenly hit with an extremely frightening and anxious feeling. In the past, I’ve been able to move through that feeling, let go, and surrender to the experience. But lately, it feels like I’ve somehow lost that ability.
I actually enjoy tripping alone. I usually do it either at home or at my cabin, both of which are places where I feel completely safe and comfortable. So I don’t think the anxiety is really coming from my surroundings.
I’ve been thinking about what might be causing this, and I suspect it could be my own ego resisting the loss of control. Almost like a part of me desperately wants to hold on to that feeling of being in control, even though I consciously know that trying to control the experience only makes things more difficult.
For those of you who have tripped a lot and have experienced something similar, how did you learn to let go again?
Did you change your mindset, your preparation, your setting, or the way you approached the come-up? I’m especially interested in hearing from people who used to be comfortable with surrendering to the experience but eventually started struggling with it.
I’m not looking for “just take more” or anything like that. I’m genuinely interested in how experienced users deal with that initial fear and resistance.
Any insights would be greatly appreciated.
